If you are a regular player at any slot site in the UK then you will probably have played one of the many games in Play n Go’s vast catalogue. Their eye-catching designs jump out of the page at you at a glance and once you’ve played on, the tendency is to remember it. You’ll find many examples of their titles in our slot game reviews. But for now, here are five absolute classics that you should try for yourself.

There are few slots out there that can match Riche Wilde and the Book of Dead for reputation and style. This deceptively simple 5 reel and 3 row slot is renowned for its super high variance but potential to deliver big time with full screens of top paying icons a possibility in the bonus round.

The Book of … format is one that is used by countless game developers from No Limit City’s Book of Shadows to Novomatic’s other classic, Book of Ra. Each one uses a random expanding icon in the bonus round that fills an entire reel each time it lands. The top win is 5,000x per spin!

Whether you are a fan of Reactoonz 1, Reactoonz 2 or the prequel, Dr Toonz, you’ll know what this is all about – grid slot action at its most fun and entertaining with lots of little critters to keep you company and a smashing bonus round with tons of different features firing off at all times.

The Reactoonz series is illustrative of Play n Go’s ability to be highly innovative with its gamified Flutcometer feature. The name of the game is to fill the Fluctometer and release Electric Wilds onto the grid to increase your chances of landing winning clusters. There are lots of cascades, progressive multipliers and wild icons to drive this thrilling game. If you haven’t already, make sure you give it a spin next time you’re looking for a new grid slot to try.

Play n Go have a thing for grid slots and another of their best games is this one with an anime theme and three Princess characters who help trigger the features. The grid size is an 8×8 and each of the Princesses – Love, Storm and Star – can make things happen with their ‘Girl Power’! Expect transforming symbols, wild symbols and symbol destruction to help form more wins.

The highlight is the Princess Trinity feature, which is triggered by filling a meter to the side of the screen. When this happens, each Princess applies her powers in one go to give you the maximum chance to hit big wins. There is a touch of the Reactoonz about this one, with a 5,000x top payout up for grabs. You can also check out the Chrismas version of the game here.

If you like Book of Dead and Moon Princess then you will love Gemix, another grid slot, this time on a 7×7 set-up and with a distinctly Candy Crush and Bejwelled feel to it. Stacked to the top with gemstones of all different colors, the name of the Gemix game is to collect clusters of the same color gem.

If you manage to clear the grid of 20 gems of more the gameplay moves up a notch to the level of the Crystal Charge. Now you can access four more features, called Nova Blast, Crystal Warp, Light Beam and Chain Lightning. These are all variations on symbols exchanges, symbol blasts and win cascades and open up the opportunity to score more wins.

Unlike many other Play n Go games, the variance here is turned down a notch to medium and the top prize is a little lower at just 500x.

Our final favourite is another with a similar feel to the Book of Dead game. Like many great slots, it has an Egyptian theme, with temples providing the backdrop and ornate gold awnings around the reels.  This is a 5 reel and 3 row game with 30 fixed paylines in play at all times.

The best stuff happens in the bonus round in which the number of free spins you get is determined by the spin of a wheel before you enter. You get upto 20 spins plus a random multiplier of up to 20x applied to all your wins.

In Legacy of Egypt the free spins round can be re-triggered an unlimited number of times and the top payout is 5,000x!

If that little lot isn’t enough to tickle your fancy, then you might want to consider playing more of the Riche Wilde series of games. Riche is the archetypal slots hero, an Indiana Jones type character always hunting out new jewels and gold stashes in his games. His daughter, Cat Wilde, is also a face in this series of slots.

Top games worth playing include Riche Wilde and the Shield of Athena with a 10,000x top prize, Pearls of India with a 10,000x top win, Riche Wilde and the Amulet of Dead with a 2,500x top win, and Cat Wilde and the Lost Chapter, with a 10,000x jackpot.

Away from the archaeology-themed games are several very good Rock n Roll slots from Play n Go. Like their peers, Big Time Gaming, Play n Go have a healthy appetite for a good dose of crowd-pleasing tuneage! Top titles in this range include Annhilator, themed on the Canadian thrash-metal act, and House of Doom, with its reference to the dark song by epic doom band from Sweden, Candlemass! Both games aren’t quite as scary as they sound and offer pretty good potential at around 6,000x per spin.

So, you can see from our brief look at some of the best slot games in Play n Go’s armoury that this is a provider who likes to offer a diverse range. That makes them a suitable starting point for pretty much any kind of slots player. Before we finish, here are some interesting points about the maths models in these games.

The average RTP of a slot game is around 96%. You should be looking for games with a return at this level at least. The good news is that Play n Go deliver most of their games between 96% and 97% RTP. Very few actually go over this mark. What is important to know is that Play n Go are one of the few developers who also allow the slot site operator to set the rate, chosen from the degree of variation offered. So, always check in the game info screen to see which level your casino has set the RTP to. In most cases it will be between a range of 96.2% and 96.8%.

Whilst Play n Go are primarily a slots provider known for their top-quality high variance games, it should be pointed out that they do produce some good titles in which the volatility is dialled down a notch too. Star Joker is one such example, as is Gemix and the sequel, Gemix 2.  For high risk action of course there is only one game to try – Book of Dead!
