The All Slot Sites Standard – How We Test and Score Casinos

This page sets out our new review framework, the All Slot Sites Standard, which replaced our earlier methodology as we expanded real-money testing and category-based scoring.
We launched the new All Slot Sites Standard scoring system in 2026. It is built around hands-on testing with the goal of providing readers with a clear, unbiased and unvarnished view of what it’s really like to play at a site.
By following the same methodology each time, we ensure scoring standards remain consistent and useful comparisons can be made between sites and operator platforms.
How Are The All Slot Sites Standard Scores Calculated?
The scorecard for every site uses six weighted categories and more than 30 individual assessment points including game coverage, withdrawal times, RTP settings, support quality and responsible gambling tools.
Here are the six categories and their weightings, and beneath that, a more detailed description of how the category scores are created.
| Category | Weighting |
|---|---|
| Safety and Trust | 25% |
| Banking | 20% |
| Games and Software | 20% |
| Bonuses | 15% |
| Website and App | 10% |
| Customer Support | 10% |
Safety and Trust
What we are assessing: Is this gambling site safe to play at?
Every gambling site we review is licensed by the UK Gambling Commission and therefore meets at least the same basic standards in safety and fairness laid out in the License Conditions and Codes of Practice.
To find out how well a site performs in this key area, we look at the operator profile, including the company size and UK license history. The best-scoring sites will have a longer track record with a clean operating history, whereas recent compliance issues can bring the score down.
We then consider the responsible gambling set-up. Whilst a minimum of deposit limits, session time reminders, time outs and self-exclusion is required for all licensed platforms, in our research we have found that some sites have developed more sophisticated options. Payday time outs, loss limits and automated risk-assessment tools provide more ways to manage behaviour and contribute to higher scores. We also test to see how accessible and configurable the tools are.
Our reviewers have a check list of site and account security features to look out for too. These include 2 Factor Account Authentication (2FA), player balance protection and data protection policies.
To complete the picture we review reputation signals and complaint patterns from authoritative review sites and forums including Trustpilot and AskGamblers. These can give useful real-world insights into the player experience, although they are weighted conservatively because in some cases the numbers are too small and the complaints unverifiable.
Banking
What we are assessing: how easy is it to deposit and withdraw, and how smoothly does the payment process work?
The cashier is not the most exciting part of any casino, but it carries significant weight in our reviews. We all want to know that getting our money in and out is going to be fast, reliable and simple to do.
Our reviewers begin by looking at the range and quality of payment methods available. Beyond the baseline of debit cards and Paypal, we give better scores when sites offer additional trusted options like Trustly and Apple Pay. We also assess how inclusive the minimum deposit and withdrawal limits are, and what fees are applied.
The most important test is of the withdrawal process itself. We use real money cashout requests and where possible test different payment methods, recording how long it takes to approve each request, when verification is triggered, and how clearly the process is communicated and if real time messaging is used.
Games and Software
What we are assessing: does this site offer a good variety of games and how easy are they to find and play?
With an extraordinary number of games on the market and 100s more created every month, this is one of the most important categories in our reviews. It accounts for 20% of the overall score and utilises nine different assessment points.
We begin by assessing the depth and breadth of the game library, looking to see which of the big game studios are represented, and which are not. We break our analysis down into slots, live casino, jackpot and instant win coverage, because sites can be strong in one area but weaker in another.
We also assess how easy it is to browse the list. The quality of search and filter tools can make a big difference to the player experience. Sites score better here when they make it easy to narrow down the catalogue by categories like provider, game format, payout rate, theme and player rating.
We are also looking at how the games perform. We load up and play more than 20 games across a range of providers, recording the speed at which the games load, failed launches, game freezes and overall stability on desktop and mobile.
We sample the RTP settings of 25 popular slots too. This is a key test point because we have found that two casinos can offer similar slot libraries but deliver very different value because of the RTP settings they choose. Sites score better when they offer the optimum RTP rates, but also when they make that information easy to find on the site or on the game loading screen.
Bonuses and Promotions
What we are assessing: do this casino’s offers provide real value, and are they fair and easy to understand?
All gambling sites offer bonuses, often frequently. The purpose of this category is to provide insight into the actual quality of those offers, measured by their value, the restrictions they carry and the ease with which they can be claimed. It’s a lot to think about and it requires our reviewers to both dig into the small print and test drive the deals for themselves to make sure the operator delivers on the promises they make.
We start by looking at the value of the deal itself. This includes how much bonus money or how many free spins are offered and their value, the deposit required to qualify, and how competitive the offer is compared with rival casinos.
We then examine the terms and conditions in detail. This includes whether winnings are paid as cash or bonus funds, whether wagering requirements apply, and whether there are win caps, expiry limits or other restrictions that reduce the practical value of the offer.
From experience we can say that the biggest welcome bonuses are not always the best offers. Terms and conditions can often reduce their actual value and mean they compare less favourably to others in the UK market.
Our reviewers also opt into and test promotions. This helps us judge not just how good an offer looks on paper, but how well it works in practice. We look at how easy deals are to claim, whether they are credited correctly, and whether the site communicates the rules clearly before and after opt-in.
We also assess the quality of the ongoing promotions programme. Sites score better when they offer rewards that are clear, consistent and genuinely useful to ordinary players, rather than relying on poorly explained loyalty schemes or promotions that are difficult to track.
Website and Mobile Experience
What we are assessing: how do the website and app look and how easy are they to use?
This category looks at more than just visual design. A casino can look modern and still be frustrating to use, so we assess the overall user journey across both the website and, where available, the mobile app.
We test how easy it is to navigate the site, browse games, use filters, and find important information such as bonus terms, payment details and safer gambling tools. We also check whether those pages remain easy to access once logged in, as that is often where weaker platforms start to show their cracks.
Performance is part of the assessment too. We benchmark load speed on key pages such as the homepage, game lobby and promotions area, using Largest Contentful Paint (LCP) and other consistent test methods to compare sites fairly. Most platforms we have tested perform well in this area, but when pages do load slowly it can make activities like account management or game browsing frustrating.
We also look for practical usability issues, including broken links, inconsistent layouts, awkward mobile interactions and poorly formatted help or terms pages. These may seem like small details, but they can have an impact on the real player experience.
Customer Support
What we are assessing: can players get help when they need it, and how useful is that help in practice?
Customer support can raise the blood pressure significantly when it’s not done well, especially when the issue involves areas like payments, verification or bonuses. In this category, we assess both availability and quality.
We start by checking which support channels are available, such as live chat, email, social media and on-site help content, along with the hours the service operates. Sites score better when support is easy to find and available when players are most likely to need it.
We then test response times and answer quality on both live chat and email. Speed matters, but it is not the only thing we look at. We also assess whether the response is clear, accurate and genuinely helpful, especially when the query is more specific than a basic FAQ.
Where a casino uses an AI assistant as the first point of contact, we assess how well it handles routine questions and whether it makes it too difficult to reach a human agent when needed. A good AI layer can speed up simple queries, but scores are reduced when automation adds friction or gets in the way of problem-solving.
Where possible, we use account-specific questions that arise from our testing in other areas like active promotions because these are more likely to expose weaknesses in both AI chatbots and human support teams.
Finally, we also review the quality and accessibility of the help centre or FAQ section. Good self-service support is a plus, but only if it is easy to find, well organised and still accessible at the point players actually need it.
How Long We Test For
We do not base our reviews on a 10-minute visit or a quick scan of the promotions page.
Most reviews are built around a multi-week testing period, usually around two to four weeks. This gives us time to test more of the player journey, including withdrawals, support, promotions and general site usability over repeated sessions.
That said, online casinos do change. Bonuses can be updated, payment methods can come and go and site performance can vary over time. Our reviews capture the site as it performed during our testing period and latest update.
How Often We Update Reviews
We revisit and refresh reviews when there is a meaningful change to the site, including:
- Bonus changes
- Payment method updates
- Changes to withdrawal performance
- Regulatory or operator developments
- Major design or usability changes
- Notable shifts in game range or RTP findings
Where possible, we show when a site was last tested and when the review was last updated so readers can see how recent the findings are.
Editorial Independence and Transparency
All Slot Sites is an affiliate website, which means we may earn commission if a reader signs up with a casino through one of our links.
That does not mean casinos can buy better reviews or higher scores.
Our testing and scoring are based on our own assessment of the site. If we find weaknesses – such as slow support, poor RTP settings, weak promotions or frustrating withdrawals – we include them in the review.
We only cover UK-licensed casinos and we aim to write reviews that are genuinely useful to players, not just helpful to operators.
Who Carries Out Our Testing
Our reviews are based on structured in-house testing using a consistent framework across the sites we cover.
That process includes real account setup, deposits, withdrawals, gameplay checks, support testing and review editing before publication. We apply the same broad standards to each casino so readers can compare sites more fairly and understand where one brand genuinely performs better than another.
As All Slot Sites develops, this section will expand to include more detail on individual reviewers and editorial oversight.
Final note
Our goal is not to find a single “perfect” casino. Different players value different things.
Some care most about fast withdrawals, others about game choice, higher RTP settings, simple promotions or strong responsible gambling tools. Our job is to test those areas properly and explain the trade-offs clearly, so readers can make a more informed choice.
