About This Site

Temple Nile is a White Hat Gaming slot site. It launched in the UK in 2018 and continues to be one of the more popular casinos on the operator’s books.

White Hat sites are a mixed bag. They can feel a bit samey as they all run on one platform with the same games and cashier and networked promotions. But thanks to its distinctive Egyptian theme and unique promotions Temple Nile stands out from the crowd. Here you get access to a super-stacked game catalogue featuring almost all the big names, and if you are looking for a high value sign up bonus, Temple Nile is a great choice too. The current welcome offer is a 100% match up to £300 and 60 spins on Blueprint’s Eye of Horus. Few other UK slot sites match this right now.

I explored the Temple Nile experience, including the registration, cashier, games and support to discover how it compares to other slot sites on the market.

Highlights of Temple Nile

  • 60 free spins on Eye of Horus with first deposit
  • Fun and distinctive theme runs through the website and promotions
  • Huge game catalogue with over 2,500 titles
  • Paypal accepted for deposits and withdrawals
  • Promotions and loyalty program rewards big spenders

Across The Web – More Temple Nile Reviews

Temple Nile has an average score of 2.5/5 across 27 reviews on TrustPilot (05.01.23).

This is a poor score though the sample size is small at just 27. 70% of those who posted comments on TrustPilot gave the site a 1/5 score and 15% gave it a 5/5. Scanning the complaints I could see that most are from players who have had a bad losing run venting anger, and a few who feel the wagering requirements are unfair. These are not uncommon complaints at casinos. I will cover these points when writing about my own experiences in this review. What is positive to see is that Temple Nile support agents have responded to complaints on Trust Pilot which shows a proactive approach to customer services.

Is Temple Nile Legit?

Yes, Temple Nile is a legit casino. It operates under the White Hat Gaming group license in the UK and Malta. White Hat Gaming Ltd is a business registered in Malta and the states. They have offices in Malta, the UK, Gibraltar and the US.

These are the license numbers under which Temple Nile legally takes bets in the UK:

There are 33 casino domains operating under the White Hat license. These include Dream Vegas and Casilando.

Regulatory Action

White Hat Gaming is one of many UK operators to fall foul of the Gambling Commission and receive a fine in the last 5 years. During a compliance assessment in March 2019, White Hat’s responsible gambling and anti-money laundering processes were found to be inadequate. The company paid £1.3 million towards the National Strategy to Reduce Gambling Harms in lieu of a fine.

This is reported on the UK Gambling Commission website here.

Should I be worried? Penalties like these are concerning for us as consumers. However, they are a positive sign that a once fast and loose industry is now being cleaned up and bad practices are being stamped out. From an experience point of view though, it does mean that you will be subject to stringent, and potentially lengthy checks on your ID and the source of your funds if you chose to spend significant sums.

Website Design and Usability

What sets White Hat Gaming sites apart from rivals like Jumpman Gaming or Dragonfish, is that there is more differentiation between them. The best White Hat sites – like Dream Vegas or Miami Dice – have a distinctive theme that sets them apart from one another. Temple Nile is a good example of this. The team have designed the site around a theme that is familiar to slots fans who enjoy Egyptian-styled games like Book of Dead by Play n Go or Eye of Horus by Blueprint Gaming.

Temple Nile Home Page

Temple Nile Home Page

As well as the temple-themed logo, the home page features video clips including the pyramids and a Cleopatra-style hostess and this is carried through into the promotions with a Temple Bazaar loyalty shop where you can trade points for gifts.

In short this is a compelling website which is fun to use and easy to navigate. It feels more sophisticated than other White Hat sites we have reviewed. The game menu filters are more powerful than at PlayGrand for example and the registration form looks great on a desert background with pyramids and a starry sky above.

However, there is room for improvement where informational pages are concerned. The support area is minimal with no FAQs or phone number. For comparison, head to an independent casino like Casumo or 888 and you’ll see how an in-depth FAQ can add to the trust-factor at a gambling site.

Sign-Up and First Deposit At Temple Nile

I signed up a new account with Temple Nile in under a minute.

The registration form is a simple 3-step one you find at most online casinos. As well as full name and address you will also have to give you mobile number and email address. This is standard practice and with all this information Temple Nile can verify your ID and age behind the scenes without requiring any further documentation.

Temple Nile Registration

Temple Nile Registration – 3 steps and you’re in!

I made my first deposit of £20 with Paypal. The process was smooth and the money was immediately available in my account. This allowed me to claim a £20 match and 60 spins on Eye of Horus slot.

Like all other White Hat Gaming sites, Temple Nile has an ‘opt-in’ bonus set up. This means you must choose to accept a bonus, or not. I like this feature as it allows me to reject the bonus if I don’t like the wagering terms.

For the purposes of testing I opted-in to the bonus.

Account Verification at Temple Nile

Temple Nile uses an automated verification tool that allows players to upload scans of their passport, driver license or ID card to prove their name, and utility bills or bank statements to prove their address.

In this way I was able to verify my ID in minutes rather than waiting for a member of the support team to check the documents which can take up to 48 hours at other sites, potentially causing serious delays to a first withdrawal.

Account Verification at Temple Nile

Automated Account Verification at Temple Nile

This is relatively new technology and it’s not perfect. The tool failed to recognise my bank statement three times so in the end I scanned a utility bill instead. This was accepted on first upload. Putting that glitch aside, this is a big tick for Temple Nile and shows a willingness to address one of the more problematic areas of customer interaction.

Bonuses and Promotions

Sign Up Offer

New customers at Temple Nile are eligible for this offer:

  • 100% match bonus up to £300
  • 60 free spins on Eye of Horus by Blueprint Gaming

Significant Terms

You must deposit £20 or more to qualify for this bonus. Winnings from free spins are capped at £20 and paid in bonus funds. The wagering requirements on the match bonus are 40x the bonus plus the deposit and the free spins winnings are subject to a 40x wagering requirement.

Is this a good offer?

On the face of it, this is a good offer. The average sign-up bonus in the UK right now is capped at £100, so for those looking making larger first deposits, Temple Nile represents a good opportunity.

There are also few welcome packages on the market today that come with as many as 60 free spins. I also think it is a novelty for those spins to be available on a game like Eye of Horus. Most sites still prefer to stick to tried and tested slots like Book of Dead or Starburst for their welcome offers.

There is only one other offer on the market right now that exceeds 100% up to £300 and that is Spin and Win from Rank Interactive, where you can pick up a bonus of 100% up to £500 with your first deposit.

All this comes with a caveat. The wagering requirements are strict at 40x the bonus PLUS the deposit value. That means, for my £20 deposit I will need to wager £1,600 (£40 x 40) to meet the wagering requirements and make a withdrawal. Keep in mind as well that only wagering with bonus funds counts towards this number.

All this means that you are unlikely to walk away with any winnings from your bonus.

Furthermore, with a minimum deposit of £20 to claim the Temple Nile bonus, this offer is better suited to higher spenders than those with smaller budgets. So, if you are not interested in making deposits of up to £300 you may be better taking an offer from another site. For example, a £10 deposit at Casumo will get you a £10 bonus at 100% match with wagering requirements of just 30x.

Other Promotions at Temple Nile

There is more promotional activity at Temple Nile than most of its sister sites in the White Hat group. However, I did notice that most events, and the loyalty program, appear to be targeted towards those with big budgets.

Temple Nile Bazaar

Temple Bazaar – Claim laptops, watches and luxury holidays

Firstly, there is a loyalty program in which you can earn Temple Tokens for every £1 wagered which can then be traded for tangible items in the Temple Bazaar. £10 wagered on slots gets you 2 tokens. I was also given 300 tokens with my first deposit to set me on my way.

Here are some of the items available in the Bazaar today:

  • 100 Spins on Book of Dead: 1,900 tokens (wager £9,500)
  • Mont Blonc Pen: 120,000 tokens (wager £600,000)
  • Tag Heuer Watch: 660,000 tokens (wager £3,300,000)

Ok, so most of us won’t be claiming much more than a few free spins on games like Book of Dead. However, I was impressed to see that this site has gone beyond the standards set by most white labels by creating a bespoke program like this. It does also add to the sense that Temple Nile is a casino that is built to appeal to bigger spenders than its rivals.

There is also a yearly £30,000 cash giveaway with just ONE winner takes all £30,000 prize. The entry requirements are steep with one ticket into the draw earned for every £500,000 wagered. A 3-monthly ‘Cleopatra’s Giveaway’ draw also awards £10,000 in luxury goods to one lucky player each time. Again, the entry requirements are steep. You’ll need to wager £100,000 to get one ticket.

Slot Game and Software

Online Slots

With over 2,000 slots from more than 100 game suppliers, the White Hat Gaming games catalogue is bigger and better than most rivals. Skill on Net are the only other white label operator in the UK with more games to offer. You can experience that at either Play OJO or BacanaPlay.

On desktop the games area looks superb. There are plenty of filters for me to view games through, like Popular, New, Must Go Jackpots and Drop and Win. I can also re-format the games into a list or rows with bigger icons. I could also search by Provider, a feature I think is really useful if you have a favourite.

Game Menu at Temple Nile

The only prominent providers whose games are not available here are Quickspin, Novomatic and Yggdrasil.

It would have been good to be able to carry out more sophisticated searches by number of paylines, top payout, RTP and variance. You get this at sites like Bacana Play. It’s not essential, but it can improve your chances of finding new games you might enjoy.

Here are 10 of the best slots available at Temple Nile:

  • Outlaw by Big Time Gaming
  • The Border by No Limit City
  • Space Stacks by Push Gaming
  • Raging Rhino Megaways by WMS
  • Sugar Rush by Pragmatic Play
  • Ted by Blueprint Gaming
  • Starburst by NetEnt
  • Money Train 3 by Relax Gaming
  • Pink Elephants by Thunderkick
  • Ecuador Gold by ELK Studios

Other Games at Temple Nile

The Live Dealer experience at Temple Nile is as impressive as the slots one with the caveat that these are all shared tables so you are mixing with players from other casinos. This is standard practice at smaller sites that don’t have the player numbers to populate exclusive tables. For that you should check out a site like Casumo.

Live Blackjack at Temple Nile

Live Blackjack at Temple Nile – Over 150 tables and stakes of 50p to £100 per hand

What there is here is choice, and lots of it. Evolution Gaming top the bill but there are also tables from Pragmatic Play if you prefer.

To give you an idea of the scale, the Evolution Blackjack lobby runs around 150 tables with stakes ranging from 50p up to £100 per hand and a variety of formats like Lightning Blackjack and Power Blackjack. There is also Baccarat, Sic bo, Roulette and Texas Hold Em Poker, and 15 Gameshow formats including Crazy Time, Monopoly Live and Gonzo’s Treasure Hunt.

Cashier Options

If you are looking to start with a low minimum deposit then Temple Nile is not your casino. The lowest deposit level here is £20 across all payment options. I recommend Spin and Win or Casumo (both £5 minimum deposit) if you are looking to start with a lower value transaction.

That aside, the cashier service at Temple Nile is good. I made deposits with both Paypal and Mastercard whilst testing and both were processed without any issues. There are a few popular services missing from the cashier including Google Pay, Apple Pay and Trustly, but all others are there.

How long do withdrawals take at PlayGrand?

I made two withdrawals from my Temple Nile account during testing. The first was to Paypal at 17.20. on a Thursday. The withdrawal was immediately showing as Pending in my account

Customer Support at Temple Nile

The customer support service at Temple Nile can be reached as follows:

Overall, my experience speaking with support agents – Mattaus and Courtney for the record – was very good. The response time was quick. I was usually the first in the queue and never waited more than a minute to speak. When the ID verification tool wasn’t working, Mattaus was very helpful in offering to speed things along by passing my documents directly to the right team. And all questions on wagering requirements, withdrawal limits and games were dealt with helpfully. It was also nice to know I wasn’t communicating with an AI bot at any time.

Being picky, the site doesn’t have an FAQ section. It’s a small point but these can be useful for finding bits of information that might ordinarily be hidden away in opaque terms and conditions or privacy policies.

Our Verdict

Temple Nile is at the top end of the White Hat Gaming group of sites. It has a luxurious feel that is reflected in a promotional program that is targeted at the higher spending players.
