About This Site

PlayGrand has been taking bets since 2015. It is one of the many White Hat Gaming Ltd casinos operating in the UK. White Hat are one of the most successful white label operators with close to 50 sites globally including names like Skol Casino, Temple Nile and Dream Vegas.

White Hat sites are popular for a reason. Their platform is excellent and can rival any other on the market for game selection. There are more than 2,500 to choose from here. And whilst the blockbuster £1,000 welcome packages are no longer available since the company had its wings clipped by the Gambling Commission, as a new player you can still get some decent free play, including 30 free spins on Reactoonz at this site.

Highlights of PlayGrand

  • 30 free spins on Reactoonz with first deposit
  • Over 2,500 games from over 100 suppliers
  • Paypal deposits accepted
  • Low £10 minimum deposit
  • Mobile app available

Across The Web – More PlayGrand Reviews

PlayGrand has an average score of 2.2/5 across 27 reviews on Trust Pilot (04.01.23).

This is a low score though I should add the caveat that the sample size of just 27 reviews is very small. 70% of those reviews gave PlayGrand a score of 1/5 whilst 15% gave it a 5/5. The most common complaint appears to be over withdrawal times that are slow when ID verification is required.  This is not an uncommon complaint at slot sites in the UK. For balance we did our own testing of withdrawals at PlayGrand and we publish our findings in this review.

We also noted that unlike other casinos whose staff actively respond to complaints in Trust Pilot, no member of the support team at PlayGrand has addressed the concerns here.

Key Findings From Our Testing

  • Registration Time: Under 90 seconds
  • Account Verification: Automatic on sign up
  • KYC Document Verification: 48 hours
  • Withdrawal Time Mastercard:
  • Withdrawal Time Paypal: 18 hours

Is PlayGrand Legit?

Yes, PlayGrand is a legit casino. It is part of the White Hat Gaming group who are licensed in the UK and Malta and now many states in the US too, including New Jersey and Michigan.

Here are their license numbers relevant to their UK operations:

Under their UK license White Hat Gaming operate 33 domains, including Dream Vegas, Casilando and Casimba.

Regulatory Action

Following a compliance assessment in March 2019, White Hat Gaming were found to have inadequate anti-money laundering and safer gambling policies and processes in place. In January 2021 a settlement was reached in which White Hat agreed to make a payment of £1.3 million to be used to support the National Strategy to Reduce Gambling Harms. The company also agreed to put new processes in place to address the issues raised in the assessment of their business practices.

You can read more about this here.

Should you be concerned? Regulatory action has been a regular feature of the gambling industry in the UK in the last 5 years. The payment of £1.3 million made by White Hat Gaming is in fact small change when compared to the huge fines dished out to companies like Entain (£23.3 million), 888 (£17.2 million) and Caesars Entertainment (£13.0 million). These fines relate to bad business practice in relation to high spending players who have been allowed to spend beyond their means. The good news is, companies like White Hat have had to clean up their act and are run more responsibly now. However, the knock on affect is that source of wealth and account verification checks are much stricter than they used to be and you will be asked to provide prove of earnings and ID documents if you become a regular player, which can feel intrusive.

Website Design and Usability

Whilst ultimately all White Hat casinos offer the same games and cashier, their websites have come with a wide variety of creative themes over the years. In this instance PlayGrand projects a sophisticated, elegant feel that is less gaudy than sister sites like Dream Vegas or Miami Dice. A black background overlaid with a smart sliver and grey font with pink buttons gives the whole site a high-class VIP feel that will likely appeal to high rollers out there, without being too showy.

PlayGrand Casino Home Page

PlayGrand Casino – Elegant and Classy

Beyond the colors and stylings, the functionality of Play Grand is the same as you will find at any other White Hat site. The home page simply shows a selection of games and the sign-up offer. It’s Simple and neat but PlayGrand is very much a typical white label slot site. It’s functional, with a nice identity, but without any of the depth of a big brand like Casumo, 888 or Play OJO. For example, here the help pages are sparse. There is no FAQs section and only a link to Live Chat. No phone support is available.

But if you are not bothered about the trappings of a big casino brand then PlayGrand serves its purpose. Once signed-up and logged in everything was within easy reach. My account page loads centre and I can deposit, withdraw, or configure my responsible gambling tools within just one click.

Sign-Up and First Deposit At PlayGrand

Registration at PlayGrand is a simple 3-step process with the usual details required including name, address, email address and mobile number. I was done in just over a minute with no glitches and without any further ID checks I could deposit and play.

PlayGrand Sign Up Confirmation

I was registered in less than 90 seconds!

I made my first deposit with Paypal.

PlayGrand is one of those sites that requires you to select a bonus if you wish to claim one. You won’t receive it automatically. This is made clear on the deposit page where you can choose to ‘Continue Without Bonus’ or ‘Add Bonus’. Personally, I like the option to claim or go without. If you don’t like the particular wagering requirements or withdrawal restrictions at a particular site then you can choose to make a straight deposit.

PlayGrand - First Deposit

Make sure you opt-in if you want the bonus with your first deposit

For the purposes of testing I opted-in to the bonus and made a £10 deposit with Paypal. There was a lag of around 10 seconds whilst the transaction was processed, but it was successful and my bonus balance and real cash balance updated immediately.

I also received 30 free spins on Reactoonz slot but these are NOT clearly signed posted in my account. If you do accept the bonus make sure that you head to the Reactoonz game to play them or you will miss out on some free spins. These are only valid for 10 days.

Account Verification at PlayGrand

Whilst account verification is done behind the scenes when you first register at PlayGrand, allowing you to deposit and play without sending any documentation, if you want to make significant deposits, or withdrawals, you will be required to verify your ID.

This is done to comply with anti-money laundering and responsible gambling regulation. I prefer to do this through a link in my account page. Unfortunately, despite claims by the support agent to the contrary, there wasn’t one and the only option was to send documents via email. This doesn’t feel secure for scans of bank statements and passports and I was uncomfortable with that.

It took a full 48 hours to verify the documents.

Bonuses and Promotions

Sign Up Offer

New customers at PlayGrand are eligible for the following offer:

  • 100% match bonus up to £100
  • 30 free spins on Reactoonz slot by Play n Go

Significant Terms

The minimum deposit required to receive this offer is £10. Winnings from free spins are credited as bonus funds. Bonus funds have a 35x wagering requirement attached to them. The maximum bet with bonus funds is £5.

Sign Up Offer

100% match bonus and 30 Reactoonz Spins at PlayGrand

Is this a good offer?

A welcome bonus of 100% up to £100 is about average in the UK right now. If you are looking for a more generous offer then your options are limited. From White Hat Gaming you could try Temple Nile and Dream Vegas where you can currently secure a bonus of 100% up to £300. Elsewhere Magical Vegas (100% up to £300) and Spin and Win (100% up to £500) from Rank Interactive are also good. Just keep in mind that those two offers come with much steeper wagering requirements.

But 100% up to £100 with the 30 spins from Reactoonz is a reasonable deal, particularly as the free spins are on a classic slot that isn’t always picked as part of a sign-up offer.

The wagering requirements of 35x are at the lower end of average. The only site in our lists currently offering better wagering terms on a match bonus is Casumo at 30x. Of course, you could try Play OJO where there are NO wagering requirements, but you will only get free spins on Book of Dead. There is no match bonus on the deposit.

More Promotions at Spin and Win

The PlayGrand promotions page is sparsely populated.

Once registered we were only offered one other promotion: a £5,000 cash prize slots tournament where those with the highest win percentage topped the leaderboard.

Aside from that, the promotions page includes adverts for ‘Top Games’ and Responsible Gambling tools, which are clearly not promotions!

This is disappointing but is quite typical of a white label casino. White label operators with smaller sites are less willing to invest in the promotions teams needed to support the kind of big promotional calendars that you see on sites like Play OJO or Casumo. So, if you are looking for regular daily deals, hourly tournaments and sophisticated loyalty programs with level-ups and VIP programs, then this site won’t be for you.

Slot Game and Software

Online Slots

What you most definitely are guaranteed of with a White Hat Gaming site is a massive game catalogue. I counted 108 providers in the list that pops up when I chose to select a game by supplier on the site. The total number of games is hard to ascertain but is generally quoted at over 2,000.

In fact, it is much easier for me to tell you which game providers are NOT featured than which are. Notable omissions then are Quickspin, Novomatic and Yggdrasil!

Putting aside those few, though not insignificant omissions (no Sticky Bandits or Book of Ra) there is much to enjoy here. White Hat have integrated many smaller, cultish or up and coming providers alongside the old favourites. So, Hacksaw Gaming, Nolimit City and Stormcraft sit comfortably with NetEnt, Microgaming and IGT.

I could also see that the game catalogue is regularly updated with new games. Fresh content at the time of writing included games like Rotten by Relax Gaming and Wild Falls 2 by Play n Go. This is an important gauge of how well-managed a casino is. Some sites we review do not update their lists regularly so to see new games drop in every week is a good sign.

PlayGrand have made it easy to search for games you like by name using the search box, or by game provider. On the desktop the game supplier list overlays on the right and you can just click a name to bring up a list of that supplier’s games. There are also general categories like Top Games (presumably the most popular), New Games, Megaways™ Slots, Slingo Games, or Jackpot Slots.

The search function for such a large catalogue is reasonable, but it could be improved. Rival sites like BacanaPlay on the Skill on Net label, use many more filters to enable players to search by stake range, paylines, variance and jackpot size as well. For me, when the game catalogue is this big I want to explore and find new games. Having those filters at my finger tips would make the site much better to use.

Nevertheless, for quality and quantity of games, PlayGrand scores very highly. Here are 10 slots that I picked out for your enjoyment.

  • Book of Dead by Play n Go
  • Undead Fortune by Hacksaw Gaming
  • Danger High Voltage by Big Time Gaming
  • Mental by No Limit City
  • Temple Tumble by Relax Gaming
  • Dead or Alive by NetEnt
  • Pink Elephants 2 by Thunderkick
  • Da Vinic Diamonds by IGT
  • The Goonies Return by Blueprint Gaming
  • Break Da Bank Again by Microgaming

Other Games at PlayGrand

The Live Casino at PlayGrand is provided by Evolution Gaming, Pragmatic Play and Authentic.

As a small white label, PlayGrand does not offer exclusive branded tables like you find at sites like 888 or Casumo. Instead, you can join a large pool or tables shared across multiple casinos. The advantage of this is that you get access to a very big range of game formats and stakes.

The Blackjack lobby alone features more than 150 tables including bespoke formats like Lighting Blackjack and Infinite Blackjack with stakes ranging from 50p up to £100. There are also 15 roulettes including Lighting Roulette and Double Ball Roulette.

Cashier Options

With a minimum deposit of £10 and ten different deposit and withdrawal options at PlayGrand, most slots players will feel comfortable with the cashier service on the site. Still, some popular options are not available, including Apple Pay, Google Pay and Trustly. Personally, I get by with just Mastercard and Paypal so my options are covered. But if you are looking for a more niche service then check out payment guides.

How long do withdrawals take at PlayGrand?

I made two withdrawals from PlayGrand in the first week following my registration and making several deposits. The first was £20 to Paypal at 14.33 on a Wednesday. I received the funds the following morning at 8am. This is within the 24 hours advertised on the website but still slower than other sites we have reviewed. Spin and Win, for example, turned around a Paypal withdrawal in just over 2 hours.

Customer Support at PlayGrand

Customer support at white label casinos can sometimes fall short of what we expect. Most of the complaints we read on TrustPilot regarding this brand concerned slow response times in relation to queries. And in particular those relating to withdrawals and bonuses. So testing this aspect of the PlayGrand experience was impotant.

There are two ways to contact the support team here:

There was no phone line available. I don’t have an issue with that if the live chat is of an acceptable level and available 24/7.

Like all White Hat sites, the support service requires you to use a 4 number PIN code. First time you use it you won’t have one because you have to ask the support agent to provide it. So, you will need to enter all your details at the start of the chat including name and address, so that they can verify your account. This felt needlessly frustrating and time consuming.

Overall, response times were slow, but acceptable – 2 to 3 minutes to engage with a support agent, and then a few seconds to respond to each question. The staff seemed knowledgable and answers to questions were helpful and informative.

Our Verdict

PlayGrand is a standard white label slot site from the White Hat Gaming group. It will suit anyone looking for a new casino to play at with a wide choice of games. However, like many white labels, it does feel like the level of service falls short in places

In summary, here are the strengths and weaknesses of PlayGrand:

What We Liked

  • The slots catalogue is massive
  • 30 free spins on Reactoonz slot from Play n Go and reasonable match bonus offer with 35x wagering on bonus only
  • Mobile app service available
  • £10 minimum deposit makes the site suitable for all players

What We Didn’t Like

  • Withdrawal period is longer than at other sites we have tested
  • Support service felt a bit impersonal and AI-led
  • The game menu filters could have been more sophisticated
  • There were few promotions after the welcome offer
  • The site was short on support information like FAQs
