Theme and Design
Lots Of Bling And An Unusual Front Man
The G.O.A.T. might have sporting connotations but in Blueprint’s world they’ve taking things quite literally and created a cartoon, beefed-up goat instead. Our hero lives in a log cabin on a snowy hilltop with the letter ‘G’ embossed on his roof. His world is full of luxuries, and if you actually hit free spins then you’ll be off to some exotic nightlife spot to cruise the sights.
It’s quite an interesting alternative take on classic luxury-themed slots like Diamond Sands or Mega Fortunes. I like the humour and it’s got a certain charisma about it. And if bling is your thing then you are in the right place.
RTP and Variance
Blueprint Gaming slots sometimes have more than one RTP setting and it’s important to make sure you are playing at a favourable RTP level to give yourself the best chance of winning. I have founrd this game running at two different RTP settings – 95.51% and 94.95%. There isn’t much between the two and you wouldn’t notice that small margin over a few hundred spins. However, for this review I did verify the RTP at 5 popular UK slot sites. This is what I found:
- BacanaPlay (Skill on Net) – 95.51% RTP
- Vegasland (Aspire Global) - 94.95%
- Casumo (independent) – 94.95% RTP
- Barz Casino (White Hat Gaming) – 94.95% RTP
- Pub Casino (L and L Europe) – 94.95% RTP
So, from this sample, BacanaPlay is your best option if you want to play at the optimum setting.
This is a medium-high variance slot according to the data on the Blueprint Gaming website. That means it can be unpredictable with an uneven distribution of wins. Much of that RTP is likely to be saved back for the free spins round where there is potential for huge wins if features align for you.
Maximum Win
The top payout in The G.O.A.T. is a very impressive 50,000x. That is very good for a mid-high variance slot. If you like this kind of potential you should also check out our list of the highest maximum payout games.
Symbols and Paytable
The G.O.A.T. is played on 6 reels and 4 rows and it is a Win Ways game. That means wins are triggered by landing identical symbols on 3 or more adjacent reels from left to right, regardless of their row position. That gives you the classic 4,096 win ways on each spin, the same you find in slots like Pink Elephants from Thunderkick and The Final Countdown from Big Time Gaming.
The paytable looks like it has reasonable value in it though the big wins will require you to unlock features too.
Low payers are the cards, 9 through to Ace. These are valued at from 0.1x for 3 9s up to 0.8x for 6 Aces. The premiums are all icons of wealth – a sports car, gold watch and private jet, along with the flamboyant goat himself – the top-paying symbol. These are valued at from 0.5x for 3 gold watches up to 10x for 6 Goats.
There are some powerful special symbols to, which I will cover in the next section
Features and Gameplay
This is a really simple game with three base game features and a bonus round with powerful enhancements to give you a chance of hitting those big payouts.
G.O.A.T. Triggers Three Features
First of all, after each spin, keep an eye on the horizontal spinning reel sitting above reels 2 to 4 during the game. This displays ONLY multipliers of up to 50x. Their values are picked up by the xWild and xWin symbols describe below.
You’ll find everything that is good in this game is triggered by the Golden Goat symbol, which is responsible not just for setting up powerful modifiers but also for triggering the bonus round. It lands only on reels 2 to 5 at any time to reveal one of the following symbols:
Best of all are the X-Wilds which are expanding wilds that will expand from the position they are in on the reel to cover the whole reel. They take the multiplier from the horizontal reel above and apply it to any win they form part of.
An X-Wins symbol takes the multiplier from the horizontal reel above and applies it to any win in view. These can be up to 50x, so lots of potential there.
Then there are Diamonds which are added to the collection meter at the side of the reels. You can get up to 50 Diamonds from one symbol. And once you earn 100 you enter free spins.
Gamble 50 Diamonds To Enter Free Spins – Or Lose Them All
Once you have collected 50 diamonds you can choose to gamble those to go direct to free spins. It’s a straight-forward all or nothing gamble at that point – either you go through or your diamond balance is zeroed and your back to the base game. Hardcore slots fans will love that choice!
Two Free Spins Rounds With xWilds and xWins
The only way into free spins is by collecting 100 Diamonds. What I love about this part is that you get to choose your free spins configuration, which always adds an interesting element to the game.
There are 2 configurations.
The first is X Wild Free Spins. This one is excellent because it gives you the Golden xWild which expands AND sticks. So, you can start to fill the reels with expanded sticky wild multipliers! That is very powerful. And, you get an extra spin when one lands. There is also a Sliver xWild which expands but does not stick.
The second is the xWins Free Spins. In this configuration, Gold xWin symbols apply to the current win AND add themselves to a progressive global multiplier for the duration of the round. Golden xWins also award an extra free spin when they drop.
Final Verdict
Once you get past The G.O.A.T.’s fun exterior you’ll find the beating heart of a slick gambling machine with a tough edge. But most importantly, it’s a fun game to play! You quickly get into the rhythm of watching those multipliers land on the top reel before checking beneath to see if there is a Golden Goat to trigger them. And thankfully, on many occasions there is. This, along with the diamond meter with gamble option and the ability to choose your own spins gives the game a more interactive feel than most slots. Meanwhile, the power that comes with those xWin and xWild multipliers means the game can really deliver on it’s 50,000x potential, making it an essential play for those looking for epic wins.
In short, another superbly entertaining slot from Bluerpint Gaming.
Testing Notes
I played 200 spins on The G.O.A.T. for free at Casumo Casino to test the game and this is what happened.
- Stake Size: £2
- Start balance: £1,000
- End balance: £797.40
- Biggest Win: 11.7x
- Free Spins: 1
- Session Time: 19 minutes 47 seconds
What I liked about this game is that whilst the wins weren’t always forthcoming, the Golden Goat landed many times over to set up its modifiers. As a result, the xWild appeared 15 times, the xWins appeared 19 times, and the diamonds appeared 7 times. Of course, that doesn’t mean that you will always score a win from them, but the chance is there roughly once in every 5 spins, which keeps thing interesting.
I also took a gamble once I’d hit about 70 diamonds and successfully unlocked the free spins round, leading to a 11.7x win. I took the xWilds option but only landed one expanded wild multiplier on the 5th reel but you can see how having 2 or 3 in play could be massive. You can see highlights in these screenshots.
