Theme and Design
Simple, But Strangely Hypnotic and Immersive
Fruity Treats is as simple as it gets, and weirdly immersive. The grid is set against a backdrop of neon pink and purple lines and stars that give the impression that you are moving through space. A feeling that is helped by a weird ethereal soundtrack. The grid itself is stacked with juicy fruity symbols and sticky sweets, all on a deep purple background. It’s a very immersive experience, and weirdly hypnotic. So keep your wits about you!
RTP and Variance
Fruity Treats has three RTP rates – 96.05%, 95.07% and 94.04%. Your casino operator is free to pick whichever rate they choose. To be fair, there is not a huge amount between these but still it is advisable to play somewhere that runs the game at its optimum RTP to give yourself the best chance of a cash positive session. My recommendation would be to play at MrQ from Lindar Media which consistently runs Pragmatic slots at the optimum RTP rates.
You can check the RTP for yourself in this game by hitting the ‘I’ button under the reels then scrolling through until you see the screen with the volatility meter at the top. Scroll down and you’ll see Theoretical Return to Player.
This is one of Pragmatic Play’s many volatile games so expect an uneven win distribution. There are some very powerful multipliers in the game as we will find out and they can send the payouts into orbit, but it will be a rare thing.
Maximum Win
The max payout in Fruity Treats is just 5,000x. That is a £5,000 win from a £1 stake. This potential is not untypical for a Pragmatic Play slot but they do sometimes offer better - check out our list of their games with the highest max wins.
Symbols and Paytable
This is a cluster pays slot, a game format Pragmatic Play are known for. The grid is 7x7 and wins are triggered by landing 5 or more identical symbols in clusters on adjacent positions touching vertically or horizontally. The beauty of this of course is that you can build HUGE clusters of up to 49 symbols to earn big wins.
There are 7 pay symbols in the table. The heart, triangle and circle pay out at from 0.4x for 5 hearts up to 60x for 15 or more circles. The top paying plums, lemons, oranges and apples are valued at from 0.8x for 5 plums up to 300x for 15 or more apples.
There is no wild in the game but there is a scatter, represented by a swirling multicolored circle. This triggers free spins as we will see, but it is also valued at 4x, 20x, 100x, 400x or 2,000x, where 3, 4, 5, 6 or 7 or more land ANYWHERE on the grid on one spin.
Features and Gameplay
Fruity Treats is a very simple game. You won’t have any problems understanding this one! It’s all about building sequences of tumbles combined with multiplier spots that move randomly around the grid. Here is how it works.
Tumble Wins
Like all good cluster pays slots, Fruity Treats follows the tumble wins model. That means, after every winning spin, after wins are paid out, winning symbols are removed from the grid, existing ones drop down to fill the gaps, and then more symbols drop in from above to fill the remaining spaces. This process repeats until no more clusters form.
Multiplier Spots
Multipliers are added to the game grid in an interesting way here.
First, at the start of each spin, FOUR random positions are marked with a spot, under the pay symbol that appears on each. Positions change on each spin. The spots are in red, purple, teal and blue colors.
If a cluster forms over one of these spots then it is activated and a multiplier appears there which is applied to any future wins that cover the spot during the current tumble sequence. If your cluster covers more than one multiplier spot, the multipliers are added together before being applied to the win total. The initial values of multipliers are 5x, 10x, 15x and 20x for the red, purple, teal and blue spots respectively.
After each tumble, the value of multipliers involved in a win increases by 1x.
Free Spins With Persistent Multipliers
The free spins round here is simple. You need 3 or more of those swirly scatters to trigger it. That gets you 10 plays where the activated spots and multiplier values do NOT re-set between spins.
And if you land 3 or more scatters on one of your free spins, you’ll extend the round by 5 spins.
Final Verdict
This is a cluster pays slot for those that find the Sweet Bonanza and Sweetopia Royale’s of this world to be a bit too heavy on features. The simplicity of Fruity Treats will make or break it for you. Either you’ll love it or hate it. The thrill of hitting a good sequence of tumbles where the multipliers are growing bigger and bigger is undeniable, but it’s rare, and I experienced a lot of near misses. I’m sure too that the free spins round can go off big time thanks to the persistent multiplier spots. But again, it could be a long wait for that to happen. The lesson is … be patient and choose your stake with care.
Testing Notes
I played 200 spins on Fruity Treats on Pragmatic Play’s test server prior to release to test the game. This is what happened.
- Stake Size: $1
- Start balance: $100,000
- End balance: $100,042.5
- Win Rate: 27.5% (55 winning spins in 200)
- Biggest Win: 34.7x
- Free Spins Round: 0
What was most impressive about these 200 spins was the win rate at 27.5% which is very healthy. Most games come in at around 20% to 25% so no complaints there. As I say in the review, this is a really simple slot. For that reason it can get a bit boring quite quickly, but there are at least plenty of regular wins and tumbles to entertain you. What you look to do is land clusters over the multiplier spots to activate the multipliers. Then you’ll see them displayed on the right of the grid. That is great, but it teases you a lot as you activate multipliers – and in particular that 20x one – and then on many occasions they never get used again! So be ready for that.
My biggest win in 200 spins was a 34.7x which isn’t bad. And to be fair, the balance overall was positive by 42.5. However, I only saw a handful of scatters in 200 spins, and I never even got close to that free spins round. Of course, that is high volatility slots for you. They tease a lot, but most days, it ends there!
