Mutagenes isn’t do anything particularly new here – cascading wins and progressive multipliers are a common combo, but it’s the presentation that makes this slot. The quirky science lab has a lot going on and there are a lot of weird things to look at if you ever get bored of the reels. Not that you will because I found the game moved at a good pace. The win rate was 22% – between 1 in 4 and 1 in 5 spins producing a win of some kind. The best base game payout came via combinations of wilds and pay symbols and a good multiplier – 5x was as high as I got.
But the best moment was the free spins round that dropped early on. Â That kicked out a 44.9x win. Your progressive multiplier is persistent here so it just keeps growing between spins and mine got up to 11x. You can see that in the screenshot.

Ever wondered how Frankenstein might have worked out if he’d been created in space? No, well no matter, as Peter & Sons have let us know with Mutagenes. This game is set inside an intergalactic laboratory, filled with various jars and potions, most containing parts of aliens. It seems, based on the symbols on the reels, that the scientists are hard at work creating a humanoid out of all of these parts.Â
However, don’t let this put you off. This slot definitely errs on the cartoon side of creepy, as most Peter & Sons slots do. If you’re after an out and out horror slot then this won’t be it, but if you’re after a funny take on a mad scientist theme then you’ll enjoy this game.

Mutagenes is one of those slots that just looks brilliant. The whole thing feels a bit mad, but in a good way. The cluster pays mechanic is always popular and combining that with cascading wins helps to net you some successes.
The max win of 12,000x your stake is pretty generous and together with the highest RTP is a great combination. The volatility does seem to be super high with this slot, so that’s something to watch out for. However, the multitude of excellent features more than makes up for it.
