Theme and Design
Slicker Visuals and Sounds Show It's Not Just Gameplay That Is Reloaded
The production in Reloaded it is a significant upgrade on the original Go Berzerk which has become a bit dated since its release in 2016. We are no longer on the high seas but instead in an icy cave with a stone structure housing the reels, dragon-like carvings in the top corners and a layer or snow covering the base. In the free spins round we move into a fiery, lava filled cave as the drama increases. The battles between viking and siren on the reels seem more real with great sound affects, whilst the reel animations, particularly the flaming wild symbols, are more vivid. And a similar orchestral score provides the perfect epic soundtrack. Top stuff!
RTP and Variance
Vikings Go Bezerk Reloaded has an RTP of 96%, just under the 96.1% of the original, and still solid for an online slot game. The variance is mid to high according to Yggdrasil and certainly felt that way in testing. This is also in line with the original Vikings Go Berzerk.
Maximum Win
The maximum payout in Reloaded has been significantly increased from just 4,000x right up to a whopping 25,000x. That is much better in my opinion and brings the Viking series into the modern age of online slots.
Symbols and Paytable
Just like the first Go Berzerk game this is a 5 reel slot with 4 rows and 25 paylines. Wins are triggered by landing 3 or more identical symbols across a payline from left to right, starting at the left most reel.
The 4 low value symbols are the coins – pewter, bronze, silver and gold – valued at from 0.2x for 3 pewter up to 2.2x for 5 gold. The premiums are our 4 vikings, again the same as those found in the original Go Berzerk slot. These are valued at from 0.8x for 3 of the female viking up to 10x for 5 of the highest value one.
There is also a Wild symbol – the word Wild in fire – which can substitute for any other pay symbol to complete a payline. It also now comes with multipliers – more on that in a moment.
Features and Gameplay
Yggdrasil have made some interesting updates since the original Go Berzerk game. There are no longer any Rage Meters or Treasure Chests in the base game and it’s really all about unlocking that free spins round with scatters.
Here is how it works.
Up To 8x Multiplier Wilds
At any point in base game or free spins a Wild can land with a multiplier attached. This can be 2x, 4x or 8x. This is a random event and doesn’t always happen. The multiplier is applied to any win that passes through the respective Wild symbol.
7 Free Spins With Bezerk Vikings!
The main event is the free spins round. This is triggered by landing 3, 4 or 5 Free Spins Scatter symbols ANYWHERE on the reels. If you’ve played the original you may remember the rage meters that could unlock free spins and the treasure chests that could do the same. Those are gone now, so you only have scatters to trigger the round.

Final Verdict
Vikings Go Berzerk Reloaded shows how slot gaming has changed since the original was released. Now the focus is on higher variance and enhancements only triggered in the free spins round where more intense periods of gameplay can set up much bigger payouts. In adjusting the maths model in this way Yggdrasil have opted to sacrifice some of the fun of the base game, including Rage Meters, and instead load up the bonus round with all the treats. As a result I found that spinning the reels here can initially be frustrating and less compelling as an experience. So be prepared for this.
But that all changes if you land 3 or more of those scatters …
Once you have unlocked those free spins of course it will be possible to push towards much bigger payouts by unleashing a good combo of sticky wilds and multipliers. The Ragnarok Free Spins can also be key here as they help to trigger more Wilds throughout the game and they are vital tool in your arsenal when chasing down the bigger payouts.

The free spins round triggered just once – not unusual over 200 spins in a high variance slot – to bring up an 82.4x win over 7 spins. I was given 7 spins and 1 Berzerk Viking and chose not to gamble or I’d risk losing the chance to see this feature in action. By the end of the round I had 9 Wilds on the reels, one of which was upgraded to a 2x multiplier wild.
