2 Wild 2 Die is the first slot to arrive from the Hacksaw Gaming studio in 2024. It is a dark Western tale, following a similar style to their classic Wanted Dead or a Wild game, with an outlaw cowgirl taking centre stage in a raid on a town’s bank vault.

This is a 5-reel game with a dramatic feature in which revolvers land and fire bullets from their chambers to transform pay symbols into huge multiplier wilds up to 200x. There is also a bonus round with cumulative progressive reel multipliers of up to 500x and revolver reloads.

This game has the makings of a classic with a huge 15,000x max win. Spins start at 10p.

A Classic Dark and Dramatic Western Tale From Hacksaw

What I like about Hacksaw is that they are not afraid to push things a little bit further in design and gameplay. This is no exception. 2 Wild 2 Die is one of those darkly atmospheric Western slots in the same vein as Nolimit City’s Tombstone. We are in a shadowy saloon bar for the base game, all dark wooden interior, dusty corners lit up by beams of sun through the windows, and our trigger-happy cowgirl standing right of the reels. Then the bonus round moves us to a bank, with the vault appearing behind the reels. The illustrative style is like a painting and the dark mood is pervasive. It’s top quality stuff and no less than we have come to expect from a talented creative team.

The maximum payout in 2 Wild 2 Die is 15,000x. I make that the highest paying Hacksaw slot to date. The best potential games by this provider have maxed out at either 12,500x or 10,000x so far so this is a welcome progression and hopefully not the only time we’ll see a more enticing max win from Hacksaw.

There is nothing revolutionary about the game set up here. You have 5 reels, 4 rows and 14 paylines to win on. Payouts are triggered in the usual way by landing 3 or more identical symbols across a payline from left to right, starting at the left most reel.

There are 9 pay symbols in the game. Their values are good, particularly when you consider the chance to power-up with those huge multipliers.  The low value ones are the cards, Jack, Queen, King and Ace. These are valued at up to 3x for 5 Aces. The premiums are the animal skull, cowboy hat, pistol and the two cowgirls. These are valued at up to 15x for 5 cowgirl symbols on a payline.

There is also a Wild that will substitute for any other pay symbol to complete a payline as well as paying out 15x when five drop onto a payline in one spin.

The gameplay in 2 Wild 2 Die is superb, cleverly building the features around the theme and including a classic Hacksaw free spins round with progressive multipliers and re-spins. Here is how it works.

Revolver Symbols Trigger Multiplier Wilds

Look out for silver and golden revolver symbols. When they land you’ll see between 1 and 6 bullets in the chamber. These bullets fire off, converting pay symbols into wilds when they connect.

A bullet from a silver revolver will turn a symbol into a wild. Another bullet will add a multiplier of between 2x and 200x to the wild. Better still, a bullet from a gold revolver will turn a pay symbols into a multiplier wild immediately.

And once the revolver is empty, it transforms into a wild too!

Huge Multipliers In The Most Wanted Free Spins Round

This is a classic Hacksaw bonus feature and it will have a familiar ring to anyone who has played other slots in their catalogue before.

To start, you will need to land 3 or more of the Free Spins scatters. The reel set now changes so that 6 reels, each with 4 rows are displayed, and ONLY revolvers, reload symbols and blanks drop. You get 3 spins, and each time at least one revolver or reload lands, the spins count resets to 3. But if you land all blanks, it drops by 1.

Above each reel sits a Wanted poster that displays a multiplier value. The multipliers are either adding ones, in which case their values are from 2x right up to 500x, or they are multiplying ones, in which case their values are 2x, 3x, 4x, 5x, 10x or 20x.

When a revolver lands, it will fire its bullets at the posters. The value of the revolver’s own multiplier is either ADDED TO or MULTIPLIED BY the value of the multiplier on the Wanted poster each time a bullet hits.

Importantly, silver revolvers don’t disappear after they fire off. Instead, they lock in and if a re-load symbol lands, then they fill their chambers again before firing off bullets once more.

Whilst golden revolvers add their values to the silver revolvers before disappearing off the grid.

It sounds complicated, but the task is simple: to grow those multipliers as high as possible to be applied to your stake for a payout at the end. The round complete when either you run out of spins OR the reel set is filled with symbols.

Shootin’ Wild Free Spins With Sticky Multiplier Wilds

There is an alternative bonus round, triggered by landing 4 Free Spin scatters. This one looks really promising. You get 10 spins where all multiplier wilds are sticky for the rest of the round. So, if you land a few good ones with high value multipliers you could really see some big wins from this bonus.

In the standard Hacskaw way, you can also extend the round by 2 free spins by landing 2 scatters, or 4 free spins by landing 3 scatters.

The Final Verdict

It will be easy to file 2 Wild 2 Die together with classic westerns like Tombstone RIP or Deadly 5 but make no mistake this game stands on its own and is as distinctive as anything produced by Hacksaw’s closest rivals. The studio made a big deal of the revolver feature in press leading up to the release and it’s not hard to see why. It’s a brilliantly executed event that adds drama and jeopardy to every spin of the game. Combine that with classic Hacksaw gameplay, with huge multiplier potential and re-spins based bonus rounds, and you have a top class slot on your hands. The icing on the cake of course is the 15,000x max win potential which, whilst still a long way short of the highest paying games on the market, is the best yet from this developer. Hacksaw are starting 2024 in style. No less than we would expect. Enjoy!
