A Super-Fun Slot With Party-Crazy Dinosaurs And A Rockabilly Soundtrack

Dinopolis looks like it has taken inspiration from the hallucinatory scenes from the movie Fear and Loathing In Las Vegas with Dinosaurs roaming the casino floors of Vegas. The game features an assortment of partying dinosaurs, living it up on the razzle in the city of Sin.

There are plenty of Vegas style buildings in the background, bright lights and casino iconography on the reels and in the paytable, whilst in the background a rockabilly soundtrack with piano and guitar fizzes along nicely. As you would expect from Push Gaming, the production is high quality with top class illustrations and slick animations throughout.

RTP and Variance

There are 3 available RTP settings for Dinopolis – 96.4%, 95.16% or 90.38%. The optimum level of 96.4% is above average but some sites will run the game at the lower settings so watch out. You can check the RTP by checking the game info screen once you have loaded up Dinopolis. Click the ‘?’ symbol on the bottom left and scroll down until you see RTP. In testing I found that Both Barz Casino and Casumo Casino run the game at 96.4%.

This is also, as you would expect from Push Gaming, a notorious producer of volatile slots, a high variance game, so it can be unpredictable. During tests it was quite capable of running for 10 or 15 spins with no wins before a short run of payouts occured. There was not a sniff of the free spins round for at least 100 spins and then it dropped twice in quick succession.

Maximum Win

The top win is 50,000x which puts Dinopolis right up there with some of Push Gaming’s highest paying slots, alongside Big Bamboo, Jammin’ Jars 2 and Fire Hopper, all of which also have a 50,000x top win, and second only to Razor Returns which maxes out at 100,000x.

Symbols and Paytable

Dinopolis has an interesting reel and row set up. There are 5 reels, with a 3-4-4-4-3 row configuration. but the best part is that this is a Win Ways slot – that means you can win by landing identical symbols on adjacent reels from left to right, regardless of the row they appear on. That gives you 576 win ways per spin (3x4x4x4x3).

There are three tiers of symbols – low, high and super high. At first glance the paytable looks unimpressive – with a maximum win of just 10x for 5 of the highest value symbol. However, there are plenty of ways to boost those wins which are explained in the gameplay section of this review.

Starting with the low value icons then, these are the dice, chips, cards and money, which are valued at between 0.1x for 3 dice and 0.5x for 5 money symbols. The high value symbols are the four dinosaurs, valued at between 0.2x for 3 of the card playing dinosaur and 4x for 5 of the tuxedoed dinosaur. And the two super-premium dinosaurs are valued at from 1.5x for 3 of a kind up to 10x for 5 of a kind.

Dino Coins With Wins up to 1,000x!

The 3 row reels at either end of the reel set are reserved for Dino Coins. These are worth much more than the standard pay symbols at 1x, 2x, 5x, 10x, 25x, 50x, 100x, 500x or 1000x. However, they ONLY pay out when they complete a line that includes at least TWO Wilds. 

Wilds Come With Multipliers Of Up To 3x

The Wilds perform a standard function of completing paylines by substituting in for other symbols on reels 2, 3 and 4. They become more powerful IF they land with 2x or 3x multipliers attached. These can also apply to your Dino Coin wins.

Dino Bonus Feature With Level-Ups, Stacked Sticky Wilds with Multipliers and Reel Multipliers

From experience I can say that to get the most out of Dinopolis you DEFINITELY need to unlock the free spins round. That’s done by landing 3 or more scatters on reels 2, 3 and 4.

During the bonus round, Sticky Stack Wilds become available. These are full-reel height Wilds that land on reels 2, 3 or 4. They come with multipliers of 2x or 3x and stick for the full duration of the Dino Bonus. They can land on their own, or you can pick them up through the feature picks described below.

Before the spins begin (over on the slots floor by the way!) you’ll first find out how many free spins you get and with which special features. This is done at a card table where twice you pick from four cards – once for the free spins amount, and once for the special.

The available specials are Sticky Stacked Wild 2x Multiplier on reels 2, 3 or 4; a 1x Reel Multiplier Boost that applies to an existing Sticky Stacked Wild; an All Reels Multiplier Boost which adds a 1x Multiplier Boost to ALL reels; or a Golden Card which basically gets you another feature pick.

Once you are into the free spins, it’s a level-up scenario where collecting 5 Dino Coin Collector Symbols, which are added to a meter on the right of the reels, at each level unlocks the next one.
