Theme and Design
Fangtastic Freespins goes down the cartoon werewolf route for Halloween. If you’ve ever watched the 80s movie, Teenwolf, or Michael Jackson’s Thriller video, then you might feel like you recognise the werewolf that appears in this game, complete with baseball jacket and glowing green eyes. The setting is a graveyard, at night of course, bathed in moonlight whilst a funky backing track completes the production. It’s not scary in a Nolimit City style, but rather fun and light-hearted instead.
RTP and Variance
Fangtastic Freespins has 3 RTP rates - 96.51%, 95.52% and 94.54%. Your casino operator can choose which of these to run the game at. There is only a small margin of difference between the 3 but it’s always best to play at the optimum RTP when you can. You can view the RTP wherever you play by hitting the ‘I’ button under the reels and scrolling through the game rules pages until you see Return to Player.
We always recommend playing at MrQ from Lindar Media which runs all Pragmatic Play slots at the optimum RTP settings.
As well as sharp teeth, Fangtastic Freespins also comes with a snarling high variance. So beware! It’s likely to give you an uneven win distribution and can burn down your balance fast.
Maximum Win
The max win in Fangtastic Freespins is a very lowly 2,100x. By today’s standards that is frankly poor! If you prefer playing for the big prizes then we recommend trying our list of Pragmatic Play slots with the highest max wins.
Symbols and Paytable
Fangtastic Freespins works on a simple 5 reel, 3 row format with 10 paylines. You’ll need to land 3 or more identical symbols across a line from left to right, starting far left, to trigger a win.
There are 10 symbols in the paytable. They are the low paying 10 through to Ace, valued at from 0.5x for 3 10s up to 10x for 5 Aces, and the high paying moon, knife, potion bottle, lavender, and silver bullets, valued at from 1x for 3 moons up to 200x for 5 silver bullets.
During free spins there is also a wild in play, represented by the werewolf. This will substitute for any pay symbol to complete a payline but has no pay value of its own.
Features and Gameplay
Just like the name says, this one is ALL about the free spins round which includes a Big Bass-style cash collect feature too. You’ll need to land 3, 4 or 5 scatters - represented by the claw - to trigger the feature and get 10, 15 or 20 free plays.
Here is how it works.
The Moon symbol is a money one and it will display values of 2x, 5x, 10x, 15x, 20x, 25x, 50x or 2,000x when it lands. Now, during the free spins when a werewolf wild lands at the same time as the Moon, the value displayed on the moon is collected.
TIP: When you have wild in play but no money symbols, then sometimes money symbols are randomly added to give you a payout.
Each wild also extends the round by one spin, adds a 1x to the Blood Bank meter AND is collected to be stored until the end of the round.
So keep track of how many wilds you have collected because for every SIX wilds you get another 8 spins plus a prize paid out based on the value in the Blood Bank. And you’ll also start to grow a win multiplier to 2x then 3x, to be applied to all wins in the round going forward.
And finally, if you get to 18 wilds, then the max win of 2,100x is paid out and the feature ends.
Final Verdict
On paper Fangtastic Freespins might sound like a hastily re-worked version of a Big Bass Bonanza slot just in time for Halloween. But I found it to be a bit more than that. The free spins round has been given a bit more power thanks to the Blood Bank feature that guarantees you an additional payout for every 6th wild. And with more free spins added every time you land a wild you can extend the round quite some way as our test session showed. So in my opinion, whilst the max payout might be a little disappointing, Fangtastic Freespins is still worth a punt.
Testing Notes
I played 100 spins on Fangtastic Freespins on Pragmatic Play’s test servers prior to release to test the game. This is what happened.
- Stake Size: 1
- Start balance: 100,000
- End balance: 100,096.5
- Win Rate: 14% (14 winning spins in 100)
- Biggest Win: 127x
- Free Spins Round: 1
Fangtastic Freespins has strong Big Bass vibes. The experience in terms of wins and features was not dissimilar. The win rate was low – just 14% of spins produced a win – and it was all about digging in and waiting for the free spins to drop. It took just 45 spins and it was a good one. I started with 10 spins, but every wild that landed gave me an extra one and I collected 6 wilds to extend the round by another 8. In total I played 27 free spins and won 127x. Just like the Big Bass games it’s all about filling the wild meter to extend the round and grow the multiplier. But in this case you also have a Blood Bank payout every 6 wilds which adds to your total win. In short, it’s a powerful feature and most of the RTP seems to be saved back for it. If you like Big Bass games for that, then you should try this one too.
