Testing Notes: Here’s What Happened When We Played Firewins Factory
IMPORTANT: To give you an accurate assessment of the games we review our writers play 200 spins. Whilst this is a useful tool to help us review games and to give an example of what might happen when you play, keep in mind that 200 spins is only a very small sample and cannot be used to accurately predict what might happen over another 200 spins. The outcome of all slots play is always random.
Boom Or Bust? Our Session By The Numbers
I played 300 spins on Firewins Factory in test prior to release. This is what happened.
- Stake Size: £1
- Start balance: £5,000
- End balance: £5,176.80
- Hit Rate: 18% (55 winning spins in 300)
- Biggest Win: 134.2x
- Free Spins Round: 2
The first thing to say about the test session for Firewins Factory is that the hit rate felt low. It actually came in at 18% which isn’t terrible, but there were several occasions on which I ran into a succession of 15 or 20 spins with no wins at all. And the Explosive Wilds, which are core to the gameplay, are rarer than you might expect. They went off 15 times over 300 spins – just 5%.
The flip side to this is that when you do get a win, they can be big. Over 300 spins I landed wins of 62.8x, 102.5x and 134.2x. That is a lucky run, but it’s indicative of the kind of wins you can hope for in this game. And its fun – the wilds fire off like rockets in all directions, and when you have 4 or 5 on the grid at one time that can clear almost all positions to set up those bigger payouts as you can see in this screenshot.
So, a classic high variance slot then, blowing cold for many spins then a short burst of wins.
But what about the free spins? That dropped twice for me, the first time after 216 spins and then once again after 235 spins. The first round brought up a 17x, and the second a 39.6x. In the second round I started with 9 spins and in the first 7 I didn’t land a single win, but the last two redeemed the feature. So, much like the base it’s a volatile play which can go one way or the other.
What We Liked
- Lots of ways for exploding wilds to spread the wilds across the grid
- Low minimum stake of 10p
- Progressive multiplier is persistent in free spins round
- Impressive 20,000x maximum win
- Fixed RTP at 96.19%
What We Didn't like
- Might be too volatile for casual slots players

What Our Reviewer Says ...
"A charming game which will delight those who like to see a lot of wilds on their reels with a potentially epic bonus round too!"
Overall Score: 8.2
Theme & Design
Our Score 9
A Charming Slot With Lots of Cool Explosive Animations
Firewins Factory is a fun, cartoon-style slot, set in a towering brick factory, peopled by grinning minion-type workers who are overseen by their big boss man, compete with top hat and moustache. What they are making here is unclear, but those minions are rebellious types, intent on causing explosions across the factory floors, which causes mayhem and firey animations throughout. The artwork is high quality, as we expect from Relax Gaming, and the theme is light-hearted. If you’ve enjoyed games like Wild Chapo then you’ll like the humour in Firewins Factory. And if you enjoy the slots with cute cartoon characters like Reactoonz, then this is for you too.
RTP and Variance
Our Score 8
What is RTP?RTP (Return to Player) refers to the amount a game will pay out in cash prizes expressed as a percentage of all the money wagered on that game. For example, a 96% RTP means a game will pay out £96 for every £100 wagered. This is an average number and will vary from one session to the next. Read more here.
What is Variance?Variance refers to how far a game will deviate from its RTP over time. High variance games deviate a lot and produce uneven win distributions and unexpected windfalls. Low variance games provide a more stable and even distribution of wins. Read more here.
The game has an RTP of 96.19% which is good value. As a rule, Relax Gaming do not produce slots with more than one RTP setting so you always know you are getting a good average return. Sometimes they drop below 96%, but not in this case, so we’re happy with that number.
This is also a high variance slot so it will be volatile. Relax Gaming are known for their high volatility output – think of the Money Train series or the Trail games. So, this is a game for serious slots players who enjoy the high risk for high reward gameplay.
Our Score 8
What Is Maximum Win?Maximum win refers to the maximum amount a player can win from one spin. It is expressed as a multiple of the stake. For example, where the maximum win is 100,000x, from a £1 stake, the maximum win would be £100,000.
The max payout on Firewins Factory comes in at 20,000x. Whilst not one of Relax Gaming’s highest max win slots, it is still a tidy sum to be playing for and suggests the game will be capable of kicking out wins in the 1,000x’s often enough.
Symbols and Paytable
Our Score 7
If you are familiar with Relax’s Wild Yield game then you will understand the paylines configuration here. Firewins Factory uses a connected ways system on a 6×6 grid. As normal, win lines start on reel 1, but now identical symbols must appear on adjacent reels on the same row, or one row above or below the matching symbol in the preceding reel. So, lines can grow across the reels in any direction diagonally up or down, or horizontally across.
Relax say this gives you 950 ways to win on each spin.
The pay table does not offer much value at first glance and you might wonder how on earth you are going to score any big wins. But as we will find out, as well as using cascading wins the gameplay leans heavily on wilds to help build your connected ways, so in theory, there is a good chance of landing a win each spin.
There are four low payers – the diamonds, hearts, clubs and spades – which max out at just 0.4x for 6 on a connected way. There are five premium symbols, made up of four workers complete with safety hats, and a greasy, top-hatted factory owner. Even these only max out at 1x for 6 on a line.
The wilds perform their usual role of substituting for regular pay symbols to complete connected ways. And they are also valued at the same level as the highest value premiums – so a 1x for 6 on a connected way.
Features and Gameplay
Our Score 9
This classic slot mechanism is central to the gameplay in Firewins Factory. After any win, winning symbols are removed from the grid and new ones drop in to replace them. If more wins are created, the process repeats. This gets you multiple wins from one spin and it looks fantastic as it plays out.
Explosive Wilds and Progressive Multipliers
There are SIX types of Wilds in this game. Five of them are Explosive, and one is just a standard wild that is represented by the letter W.
The Explosive Wild is a powerful symbol because in the blast it spreads wilds out across the grid, and in the case of the rare super explosion, it sends them further afield. The explosive wild also increases a progressive win multiplier by 1x each time it is part of a winning combination. The multiplier grows and is applied to wins for the duration of the current cascade sequence.
These are your Explosive Wilds:
- Cross Wild – spreads wilds in a cross pattern to the adjacent positions above, below, left and right
- Diagonal Cross Wild – spreads wilds to diagonally adjacent positions – above left and right and below left and right
- Vertical Wild – spreads wilds to the adjacent positions above and below
- Horizontal Wild – spreads wilds to the adjacent positions to the left and right
- Random Spread Wild – spreads between 3 and 8 wilds to ANYWHERE on the grid
For those who love their Wild symbols, this is a superb feature which adds lots of dramatic animations and improved odds of completing those connected ways.
Second Chance For Unused Wilds
Occasionally, where wilds have not been used by the end of your spin and cascades, then all the wilds left on the grid will explode, causing adjacent symbols to be removed, triggering another cascade and the chance to score more wins.
Free Spins With A Persistent Progressive Multiplier
The bonus round is triggered by landing at least 3 scatters. That will earn you 8 free spins, and another spin for each additional scatter that lands on the triggering spin.
As the round begins, the backdrop turns to night, all the better for showing those explosive reel events. But there isn’t a great deal of difference between the gameplay in the free spins feature and that in the base game. However, one important distinction is made. Now the progressive multiplier does NOT re-set between your spins.
A good run of exploding wilds and wins can therefore produce spectacular results in the bonus round!
The Final Verdict
Firewins Factory is a great looking slot with simple, but exciting gameplay. The powerful mix of cascading wins, connected ways, explosive wilds and progressive multipliers can trigger some big payouts even in the base game. And with the persistent multiplier in the free spins round, the potential goes further still. However, you should also remember that this is a highly volatile game, as shown in our test session, so don’t expect it to deliver all the time. There will be frustrating periods too and this is probably not a game for casual slots players, despite its charming exterior. Still, fans of Relax will feel right at home here chasing down that mega 20,000x max win and it’s a nice addition to an already impressive catalogue of games.
Useful Tips When Playing Firewins Factory
Remember, online slots are games of chance, there is NO strategy that can improve your odds of winning. However, reading our review and following these tips will help you get the most out of your time playing this slot game.
1. Start At A Low Stake
Firewins Factory looks charming but it still has a volatile heart so be wary. It may burn your balance in no time. So stick to a low stake – Relax slots start at just 10p – if you want to make your balance go further whils trying to chase down those big wins.
2. Look Out For Cross and Diagonal Cross Wilds
All those exploding wilds are powerful, but the best are the two cross wilds. These will add 4 wilds to the reels each time they activate, which gives you a good chance of scoring a win, particularly with the connected ways pay out mechanic which makes forming winning lines easy.
3. Play With A Slots Bonus
All the match bonuses on this page are eligible to play on this slot. I recommend one from Barz Casino – a 100% match up to £300 – which will get you lots of free play on Firewins Factory.
4. Only Play At Licensed UK Slot Sites
We choose the sites we recommend because they are licensed by the UK Gambling Commission which makes them safe, fair and secure with responsible gambling tools to help manage your spend. Never play at unlicensed sites.
