This was a reminder that Fishin’ Frenzy games can be tight sometimes. This one lived up to its medium-high variance billing. The win rate was just 16.5%. In fact that is not unusual for one of these slots which save back most of the RTP for the free spins feature.

So, I saw very little from base game spins but eventually the free spins showed up and I got 15 plays from 4 scatters. That suggested a potentially high value payout might be on the cards, but it wasn’t to be. I scored just ONE cash collect in all those spins and the total win was just 15x, shown in the screenshot. It was a long wait and 198 spins to get that far, so such a small win from 15 spins was disappointing. Needless to say, there were none of the symbol upgrades this time around.

The Fishin’ Frenzy series is iconic, so why mess with it? Blueprint Gaming has kept it simple with Fishin’ Frenzy Even Bigger Catch. They’ve sharpened up the graphics a little, cleaned up the lines and more or less left it at that. There are the same cute animations after wins, the classic pay symbols and the big blue ocean too. If you like any of the prequels to this slot then you’ll be more than happy with this straightforward design.

There are 9 pay symbols, as well as a scatter and a wild which we’ll come onto shortly. The low value symbols are the cards from 10 through to Ace. These pay from 5x to 10x the bet for 5 symbols. Scatter Symbol

A fishing boat named Scatter is the scatter symbol in this game. If you land from 3, 4 or 5 scatter symbols then you enter the free spins round with 10, 15 or 20 free spins respectively. Once you’re in the free spins feature the scatter symbol will no longer appear.

Wild Symbol

The wild symbol is a fisherman in a green hat. In the base game he can substitute for any symbol to make a win. He also carries a pay value of 0.5x, 5x, 20x or 200x for 2, 3, 4 or 5 on a line. However, in the free spins feature he has a very different role.

The free spins round is the most exciting feature in the game, involving the classic Fishin’ Frenzy cash-collect mechanic. During this feature if a fisherman lands on the reels at the same time as a fish then he collects all of the fish and their associated values. The fish have values of between 2x and 50x your bet.

And, just as in Fishin’ Frenzy The Big Catch, there is a trail above the reels during free spins. Each time you land a fisherman he is collected on the trail. Every 4th fisherman collected upgrades the lowest value fish in the table AND gets you 5 more spins.

Better still, this game introduces the Gold Fisherman. This new wild symbol works similar to the regular fisherman but also applies a multiplier to all collected fish. Whenever it lands you’re given three fish to choose from, once you click one, the multiplier (from 2x to 10x) is shown and applied to all fish currently on the reels. 

This multiplier booster is unique to Even Bigger Catch and shows the way to mega wins. If a high value multiplier is applied to 50x fish, then some serious cash is coming your way!

The Final Verdict

Another addition to the Fishin’ Frenzy series is always welcome and Fishin’ Frenzy Even Bigger Catch does bring some genuinely new gameplay along with it. The Golden Fisherman is a really nice touch, enabling you to multiply the wins of all fish in the free spins round. 

The max potential win of 50,000x is super generous, though it does come along with a slightly decreased RTP and increased volatility. For that reason, this slot is probably better suited to fans of fishing slots who have a more generous bankroll behind them.
