Cluster Pays slots often come with a serious volatility kick – from Play n Go’s famous Reactoonz series to the original Gonzo’s Quest, pumping up the variance is a favourite ploy of developers looking to add some edge to even the sweetest-looking grid games. And it seems Fruit Party 2 is no exception to that rule. In fact in this eye-catching game with bright colors that bring to mind a Haribo party, Pragmatic Play are more than willing to give the punters some serious headaches chasing down wins, as well as a lot of potential joy if they can get the right combo of Wild Multipliers and Cascades working in their favour. Indeed, this game has all the hallmarks of a classic high-risk slot, with the potential for explosive progressive wins cumulating when multiple cascades land one after another.

The high variance in this game means that payouts are unevenly distributed throughout your session. That said, the minimum bet is just 20p which allows you to ride out those dry spells quite easily even with a smaller bankroll. The top win is a modest 5,000x and requires a good mix of those multipliers to combine if you are going to get even close to it. 5,000x is standard for Pragmatic games but you can find better on their Cowboy Coins release (30,000x) or Gates of Valhalla (10,000x).

As we already know, Fruit Party 2 uses a Cluster Pays mechanic which means you need to find at least 5 matching symbols touching horizontally or vertically in a ‘Cluster’ to receive a payout. The size of a cluster can range from 5 up to 15 icons in total, with payouts of up to 150x achievable for a screen filled with top paying strawberries. The other fruits in descending order of payouts are the orange, apple, plum, grape, star and heart.

There is also a Wild symbol, which is the ‘W’ and this can substitute for any other symbol to create a cluster.

Importantly, Wilds come with multipliers attached which can reach up to 256x in the base game or an eye-watering 729x during Free Spins when they combine!

Fruity Party 2 boasts classic features – there is nothing particularly new or mind-blowing here, but for fans of this type of game, it delivers what it is supposed to.

Let’s break it down for you.

Tumbling Reels and Cluster Pays

Instead of the usual spinning reels, in this game the symbols drop down from above on Tumbling Reels. When a winning cluster of 5 or more identical icons is formed, then the winning icons will disappear to be replaced by new symbols – and more potential winning combinations may be formed!

The tumbling continues until no new winning combinations arrive.

Wild Multipliers

The Wild symbols in the slot have Multipliers attached starting at 2x. If more wilds land in a Tumble sequence, then each time the multipliers increase. The second wild takes the multiplier up to 4x, the third up to 8x, the fourth up to 16 x. And so on, up to a maximum multiplier value of 256x in the base game.

And crucially, if more than one Wild symbol appears in the same Cluster then their values will be added together before being applied to the payout. Wilds can also be applied to multiple Clusters at the same time.

Free Spins

Landing 3 or more gold fruit Scatters will activate the Free Spins round. You’ll land 10 spins for 3 scatters, 12 spins for 4 scatters, 15 spins for 5 scatters, 20 spins for 6 scatters, and 25 spins for 7 scatters.

Now, during the free spins round the power of your multipliers is increased as they start at 3x rather than 2x. This means, if you get enough wilds in a tumble sequence then your multiplier can increase to a massive 729x, making that top 5,000x payout possible.

Finally, note that unlimited free spins re-triggers are possible – each time you land 3 or more scatters in the bonus round you will gain an additional 5 Free Spins.

So, with all that in mind, you can see how the win potential of this game can sky-rocket.

The Final Verdict

Fruit Party 2 is a great follow up that will please fans of the original, as there are once more a range of bright and colourful fruits setting off Cluster Pays all over the grid. Meanwhile, the slightly harder edge and higher volatility will make this sequel more attractive to the higher rollers, out there. Indeed, some of the progressive features on display in the bonus round are reminiscent of classic high-risk slots like Bonanza.

We should add though that we were disappointed to find the top payout was only 5,000x considering the huge Multipliers available – it feels natural that the jackpot should be much higher. So, for players who love other grid-based slots, such as Reactoonz, this game might feel lacking in prize potential, but for those who enjoy colourful fruits, a Caribbean atmosphere and high volatility games, it is a worthy spinner.
