Heart of Cleopatra
By Pragmatic Play
Heart of Cleopatra is a high variance cluster pays slot from Pragmatic Play. It plays out on a 7x7 grid and uses Tumble Wins to create chains of cumulative wins. Money Spots with multipliers form when wilds are part of a cluster, and their values are applied to random money prizes at the end of each tumble sequence. In the free spins round up to 30 spins are awarded and Money Spots are persistent, growing in size through the feature. The max win is 10,000x and spins start at 20p.

Theme and Design
Dramatic Production For This Egyptian Slot
Heart of Cleopatra brings on all the classic Ancient Egyptian slots motifs – a dusty tomb lit by fire pits and framed by tall columns marked by hieroglyphs. Statues of pharaohs appear to left and right of the grid which itself is emblazoned with gold framework and gilded pay symbols. Coins litter the floor all around and dramatic music with drums and orchestral bits plays in the background to complete the atmosphere. It’s actually a surprisingly good production for a game that on paper looks generic.
RTP and Variance
Heart of Cleopatra has three available RTP settings – 96.48%, 95.5% and 94.5%. It is at the operator’s discretion to decide what rate to run the game at on their sites. There is little between those but to give yourself the best chance of coming away with a cash positive balance we recommend playing at the optimum level if you can. MrQ from Lindar Media consistently runs Pragmatic Play slots at top RTP rates so that makes a good choice.
Wherever you play you can check the RTP in the game by hitting the ‘I’ button under the reels then scrolling through the game info screens until you see the ‘Game Rules’. Scroll down until you see ‘theoretical RTP’.
On that same page you’ll see the volatility rating at the top. In this case it is 5/5 which means a very volatile game. The win distribution will be uneven but it can kick out some big payouts from time to time.
Maximum Win
The maximum win from one single spin in this game is 10,000x. That is a £10,000 win from a £1 stake. That’s not a bad figure, but if you want to chase bigger wins you should check out our list of Pragmatic Play slots with the highest maximum wins.
Symbols and Paytable
The game plays on a 7x7 grid with wins triggered by landing 5 or more identical symbols in adjacent positions horizontally and / or vertically. These clusters can be huge in size, triggering big payouts for 15 or more in one group.
There are 7 pay symbols in the table, each one an Egyptian icon of some kind including the Ankh symbol (means life), flowers, eyes, dogs, cats, eagles and the famous scarab beetle. The values range from 0.2x for 5 Ankhs up to 150x for 15 or more scarabs in a cluster.
There is also a Cleopatra Wild that substitutes for any pay symbol to complete a cluster, but it has no pay value of its own.
Features and Gameplay
Heart of Cleopatra uses features that will be familiar to anyone who has played their recent Cluster Pays games like Fruity Treats including Tumble Wins, Money Spots and Free Spins
Tumble Wins
After any base game or free spins wins, winning symbols are removed from the reels whilst existing ones drop into the spaces left behind. Then, new symbols drop down from above to fill the remaining empty spots. If more clusters are created then the process repeats to create a chain of accumulating wins.
Money Spots
The Money Spots feature comes into play whenever a cluster containing a wild is removed as part of a tumble. Now, a random number of spots on in the space over which the cluster formed are marked as Money Spots. Each one has a 1x multiplier, or for the position where the wild(s) were, a 2x multiplier.
From then on, each time a cluster of symbols forms over those spots, and is removed, the multipliers double in size, up to a maximum of 1,024.
When the sequence of tumbles ends, then a random money value is assigned to each spot, the multiplier in that spot is applied to it, and the payout made. The money values can be 0.1x, 0.2x, 0.25x, 0.5x, 1x, 1.5x, 2x, 2.5x, 3x, 4x, 5x or 10x.
At the end of a tumble sequence in the base game, then all Money Spots are cleared.
Free Spins Round With Up To 30 Plays PLUS Re-Triggers
The free spins round takes things up a notch in a big way!
The pyramid bonus symbol is the trigger here, and you’ll need 3 or more to set up the feature:
- 3 pyramid bonus symbols – 10 free spins
- 4 pyramid bonus symbols – 12 free spins
- 5 pyramid bonus symbols – 15 free spins
- 6 pyramid bonus symbols – 20 free spins
- 7 pyramid bonus symbols – 30 free spins
Now, the difference is, Money Spots are persistent. So, they do NOT re-set between spins, but just keep growing in size. The final payouts for Money Spots are not calculated until the final free spin plays out. Then, money values are assigned again and the payouts made.
And, you can also extend the round by landing 3, 4, 5, 6 or 7 pyramid bonuses once again to get another 10, 12, 15, 20 or 30 more free spins.
Final Verdict
Heart of Cleopatra is a really nicely produced game with cracking audio visuals. The gameplay is lifted from a previous Pragmatic Play slot, Sugar Rush, and if you’ve played that one, you’ll know what to expect here. It was a tough play in testing with a lot of teasing, but it does have the features to go pop on occasion in the free spins round so be patient and choose a sensible stake as you hunt down those treasures.
Testing Notes
I played 250 spins on Heart of Cleopatra on Pragmatic Play’s test server prior to release to test the game. This is what happened.
- Stake Size: $1
- Start balance: $100,000
- End balance: $99,947.95
- Win Rate: 25.2% (63 winning spins in 250)
- Biggest Win: 33.75x
- Free Spins Round: 1
Heart of Cleopatra played at a good pace with a 25.2% win rate which is roughly 1 in 4 spins. That’s about average for any slot. However, the Money Spots themselves did not pop up as often as I would have liked. You need to keep your eyes out for the Cleopatra Wilds and hope they add to a cluster because that’s when the Spots appear. The biggest base game win I got in this way was a 10x which isn’t great. There were nice multiplier values but frustratingly the money values were only in the 0.25x to 2x range.
The free spins round dropped once in 250 spins. Again, probably about average for a high variance game. I had high hopes for this feature as its clearly where all the power is in this game with the chance to build big multipliers as those Money Spots are persistent. I had 10 spots by the end of the round but only managed a 33.75x win. Even so, it was a teaser of what the game might do on a better day.
Overall, a good game, but very similar in format to Sugar Rush, which you might prefer.
