This is a high variance game so it was never going to be easy to unlock the top levels. Over the first 200 spins I eventually unlocked all THREE heroes – one was unlocked by default, the second after 81 spins and the third after 150 spins. This gave me the optimum RTP level of 96.53% and all 3 modifiers in play, which makes it more entertaining and exiting. However, my biggest win was still just a 15x.

I unlocked the Mimic Free Spins round early on and got 10 spins with Wild Treasure Chests, which isn’t as powerful as the Dragon Free Spins. This only produced a disappointing 1.9x win.

Overall, I thought the balance in the gameplay is about right – it wasn’t easy to unlock the extra heroes, but it wasn’t impossible either. It would have been nice to hit the Dragon Free Spins, and wins were overall somewhat underwhelming over 250 spins, but this still felt like a really entertaining and original Megaways game.

Awesome Fantasy Gaming Style Design

Design of Heroes Hunt Megaways is top class with a slick illustrative style and nicely executed fantasy gaming theme. The action takes place against the backdrop of a cave with an ethereal light bathing the scene. The reels themselves feature our three heroes – warrior, wizard and archer – beautifully drawn – and other quest-type imagery like coins, crowns and gems. There are excellent animations throughout and a suitably fun soundtrack. Overall, the distinctive production style more than matches the ambition shown in the innovative gameplay.

Heroes Hunt is a little complicated but after just a little time playing you’ll soon get the hang of it. For those new to the slot it can be worth spending a bit of time playing in demo mode to understand the progressions between levels. At it’s heart this is a super gamified slots experience with a genuine progressive gameplay where players can unlock new features and more win potential by collecting experience points.

Here is how it works:

Cascading Wins

Firstly, like many Megaways games, this is a Cascading Wins slot where after any winning spin, the winning icons are removed from the reels and replaced with new ones. More wins can be created this way, and the process repeats until no more new wins occur.

Heroes with Modifiers

There are 3 heroes in the game – the wizard, the warrior and the archer. Each has its own super -power or game feature. You pick one at the start when the game loads up to and are awarded a Modifier whenever the corresponding hero lands on reels 2-5.

Whenever the treasure chest lands on the reels, you receive Experience Points. You need 3 points to unlock each extra hero. Once you unlock all 3 heroes, you get key symbols on the grid and once you have collected 3 keys, you trigger the Dragon Free Spins round!

Heroes Hunt Megaways is an extremely atmospheric adventure, complete with heroes, dramatic soundtrack and cartoon symbols. It is also a pretty sophisticated game that cleverly utilises level-ups and symbol collections to produce something much more engaging than your average 3 reeler.

The Dragon Free Spins is the best feature in the game and it can lead to the biggest prizes. If you can trigger all 3 modifiers together with all heroes active, it can create some special payouts and some visually exciting effects too. And although collecting symbols to trigger features can be really tough in some slots, here it was relatively easy to unlock all three over 200 spins in testing. Of course, the high variance means it will be tough at times, but it never gets boring.
