An Epic Adventure With Cinematic Production
Another one of the great stories of Ancient Greece is brought to life in Medusa’s Stone. Her story is famous of course - with snakes for hair, was said to turn anyone who looked at her into stone! Fortunately, she only appears in the logo in the game. The rest of the production has the epic qualities you would hope for from an Ancient Greek-themed slot. The setting looks like the scene after the fall of Rome with ruined buildings standing over broken statues, all bathed in ethereal blue light. The reel set is built in stone too, the paytable is filled with warrior soldier types and the soundtrack is a cinematic orchestral one.

Medusa Spin Brings On Wilds
The Medusa Spin can happen in both base game and free spins round. All visible character symbols on reels 2, 3 and 4 will transform into wilds to potentially trigger better wins.
Free Spins and Super Free Spins With Multiplier Wilds
There are two free spins rounds, triggered by landing Bonus or Super Bonus symbols on reels 1, 3 and 5. You need at least 3 of one symbol type to trigger its bonus round.
The standard free spins triggers with 3 Bonus symbols. That gets you 10 spins. Medusa Spins still occur during free spins but this time the rule change:

Final Verdict
Medusa’s Stone produced strong first impressions. The production is high quality and contains lots of drama that will appeal to those who like the epic qualities found in the best Ancient Greek slots. The gameplay itself was less impressive but it will suit those who are in it for the big moments and are prepared to ride out the duller parts of the base game whilst waiting for the free spins round to trigger. Once there, combinations of wilds and multipliers can, as always, be very powerful, so if you decide to spin, be patient and choose your stake carefully for the best chance of a positive return.

This was all about hitting the free spins round which fortunately showed up twice in 250 spins which is a good result. The base game was tough. The win rate was Ok at 22.8% but the wins were all small and the Medusa Spins were very rare. I counted 6 in 250 spins – just 2.4%. That’s not a lot so you need a lucky break to get anything significant out of that phase.
The free spins were a different experience. The first round triggered a 68.5x win with 1 Medusa Spin in the round and an 18x global multiplier by the end. The second produced a 33.5x win with 2 Medusa Spins during the round and a 15x global multiplier by the end. The global multipliers are a big part of building payouts here – after any multiplier is used it goes into the global pot.
Overall this was a good play, but it is volatile and the base game can feel like a grind at times.
