Squeeze
By ELK Studios
Squeeze by ELK Studios invites you to a tropical island to take your shot at a max win of 10,000x your stake. With its RTP of 94% and high volatility this slot is far from budget friendly. However, its exciting feature meters, progressive multipliers and powerful bonus rounds should help get you closer to those top level wins. The super bonus round features persistent multipliers and lots of wilds, upgrades and big symbols. Squeeze is played on a 6 reel, 7 row grid and has a cluster pays mechanic.

- Original 'squeeze' mechanic grows your multiplier
- Persistent multiplier in free spins round
- Feature meters add extras to the grid during game rounds
- Nice 10,000x max win
What We Didn't Like
- Default RTP of just 94%
- A volatile game that can burn you sometimes
Theme and Design
Squeeze has a bold, bright, tropical theme with fruit as the high paying symbols and coloured squares as the lower paying ones. The reels sit on soft white sand and look out over a bright blue ocean, with fronds of palm trees blowing lazily. It feels like a tropical paradise.
With that said, the design isn’t all that original and it errs on the side of simple. It feels like a modern day fruit machine in some respects, there’s just not that much going on. If you like your slots classic, clean, and uncluttered then Squeeze will suit you. However, if you like a slot with lots of intricate details, you might be disappointed.
RTP and Variance
Squeeze has an RTP of 94% and high volatility, meaning you’re likely to experience dry spells interspersed with larger wins. However, the 94% RTP does seem pretty mean, consider the top prize isn’t that spectacular and the volatility is so high.
Maximum Win
Squeeze has a top payout of 10,000x your bet which is pretty decent! However, there is high volatility to consider and a fairly low RTP of 94% which does take the shine off things slightly. There are lots of other games in a similar vein that offer better max wins and more favourable RTPs, for example Fruit Storm with its 25,000x max win and 95.85% RTP
Symbols and Paytable
Squeeze is played on 6 reels and 7 rows with a cluster pays mechanic. To create wins you need to land five or more of the same symbol in adjacent positions.
There are 8 pay symbols in the slot. The low value symbols are squares in blue, green, yellow, and red. Wins with 17 or more of these symbols pay between 5x and 8x the bet.
The premium symbols are fruits in blue, green, yellow, and red. Wins with 17 or more of these symbols pay between 50x and 250x the bet. There is also a wild symbol that doesn’t pay anything but can substitute for all pay symbols.
Features and Gameplay
Squeeze offers a whole host of juicy mechanics including some pretty exciting bonus rounds. Let’s take a look at how they all work.
Squeeze Mechanic
The squeeze mechanic works more or less exactly like a cascade mechanic. Whenever a win is created, the symbols are squeezed until they burst and make way for new symbols. If more wins are created, the fruit are squeezed again and so on until no new wins are made.
Bounce Back Multiplier
The big difference with the squeeze mechanic is that sometimes those fruit just won’t be squeezed! If they bounce back, it increases their multiplier and makes the symbol stick around to be squeezed again, increasing the payout each time.
Feature Meters
Perhaps the most exciting features of this slot are the feature meters. You’ll see them on the left of the reels, with each colour corresponding to its own feature. Swap (blue), Make Big (yellow), Upgrade (green), and Spawn Wilds (red).
Every time you make a cluster it fills the meter a little (the one with the corresponding colour). Each cluster win advances the meter by one step, and once a meter is filled by three steps, the associated feature activates. Supercharged symbols fill up a meter completely if part of a winning cluster.
Symbol Features
The four symbol features mentioned above work like this:
- Swap: This feature selects two symbols to swap places, potentially creating new wins. Each activation allows for three symbol swaps.
- Make Big: This feature enlarges a symbol to either a 3x3 or 4x4 size.
- Upgrade: This feature upgrades a symbol to a higher-value symbol. If the highest value symbol is reached, it converts to a wild symbol instead.
- Spawn Wilds: This feature replaces 2 to 6 symbols on the reels with wild symbols, or sometimes supercharged wilds.
Bonus Round
Landing 3 scatter symbols activates the bonus game, awarding 5 free drops. During the bonus round, you can retrigger extra free drops. If at least one of these scatter symbols is a super scatter, the bonus game upgrades to a super bonus game (more info below). The win multiplier and feature meters from the base game are persistent.
Super Bonus Round
If you land 3 scatter symbols, including at least one super scatter symbol, the super bonus round is triggered. You receive 5 free drops, with the possibility to retrigger more free drops. Before each free drop, one or more of the feature meters is randomly filled. The feature meters and win multiplier from the base game carry over and remain active during the entire super bonus game.
Final Verdict
Squeeze is a classic slot to look at that features a whole host of interesting mechanics that make the gameplay feel anything but classic. The two bonus rounds each offer the potential to maximise your wins, whilst the clever feature symbols lend plenty to the gameplay too.
The max win of 10,000x your bet is a juicy offering, but the low RTP of 94% leaves a bit of a sour taste in the mouth. If you’re looking for a clean looking slot that offers wild swings and exciting mechanics then Squeeze could be a good choice, just make sure you’ve got the bankroll for it!

ELK certainly timed the release of this one well. It’s a total feel good hit for the summer. It may look simple – another beach side fruit-themed game like many others – but after a few plays it’s very hard to put down.
Like Oxygen, another recent Elk release, I found it quite difficult to follow for the first 10 or so spins as it is a new and unfamiliar format. But it’s actually simple. For starters, you want the win multiplier for your current game round to grow as high as possible – that happens when a cluster doesn’t burst but squeezes instead. Each squeeze increases the multiplier by 1x. Most times that only happened once or twice, getting the multiplier up to 2x or 3x. But one time it got up to 20x during my session. The win on that occasion was only 19.2x but you can see the potential there with better clusters.
Next, you want to fill the meters to trigger the features like extra wilds, symbol swaps, upgrades and bigger symbols. Clusters of each color fill their respective colored meters. And each feature is good in its own way, creating potential for more clusters which extend the round further and maybe help grow the multiplier even more. For my money the big symbols are best – they really helped to create more clusters when they appeared.
Finally, there is the free spins round. That triggered twice for me. The second time produced a nice 91.9x win. The scene changes to sunset which is cool but the big difference there is that the multiplier persists between rounds. Mine only reached 5x which was a bit disappointing, but you can see how the game could really kick out some massive wins if you were running with a 20x or more multiplier and got on a good run.
So, overall a big thumbs up for Squeeze from me. The gameplay is a little weird at first, but you soon get the hang of it and it’s also got one of the catchiest soundtrack’s I’ve heard in a long time!
