Another Journey Into A Sweet-Filled Wonderland

These sweet-themed slots are all interchangeable when it comes to visuals. Every background is a gloopy, marshmallow, sugar-icing and candy stick flavoured mash up in pinks, whites and ginger-bread browns. And the appropriately named Jelly studio have done us proud here with their own interpretation. It’s an escapist’s slot with a suitably dreamy soundtrack that wouldn’t be out of place in a kids movie. You don’t need me to say more. Just check out the screenshots.

RTP and Variance

Sugar Bomb DoubleMax rolls with a straight-forward fixed RTP of 96% which is about average for a UK slot, so no complaints there.

The variance level, as stated on Yggdrasil’s own website, is medium-high. So, enough volatility there to make this a bit of a thrill ride, but not a total jaw-breaker either. You’ll have to take a spin to find out.

Maximum Win

The maximum win is just 5,000x. By today’s standards that’s not raising any eyebrows but it still suggests you can hit some nice pay days from time to time.

Symbols and Paytable

Onto the paytable and reel configuration and this is a 5 reel, 3 row game with 576 paylines in play on each spin. You arrive at this number because this is a win ways game where wins are triggered by landing identical symbols on adjacent reels from left to right regardless of the row they are on, and starting at the left most reel.

Plus … there is an extra ‘tracker’ reel sitting above reels 2, 3 and 4. So that gives you a 3x4x4x4x3 calculation for the win ways, which comes to 576.

Then there are 10 symbols in the paytable. The low value ones are the cards, 10, Jack, Queen, King and Ace. These are valued at from 0.1x for 3 10s up to 0.75x for 5 Aces. The premiums are the sweets in red, green, blue, purple, and chocolate brown. They are valued at from 0.3x for 3 reds up to 10x for 5 chocloate browns.

There are Wilds too, represented by the Sugar Bomb, that ONLY appears in the 1x3 tracker reel that spins above the main set independently. Wilds substitute for any pay symbols to complete win ways and also have a say in the MultiBoost feature as explained below.

Features and Gameplay

As well as cascading wins, Sugar Bomb DoubleMax has a number of extra features triggered by symbols that land in the top tracker reel, as well as a free spins round. 

Cascading Wins

First up, this is a Cascading Wins slot. So, after any win, winning symbols are removed from the reels and new ones drop in to replace them. This can trigger more wins and more cascades. The sequence only ends when no more wins are triggered.

DoubleMax Multiplier

Look at the top right corner of the reels and you’ll see a multiplier value that starts at 1x. If a Sugar Bomb wild lands on the tracker reel at the top and forms part of a win, then the multiplier is doubled before it is applied to any win. This can happen more than once in a sequence of cascades.

Golden Sugar Bombs

A rare site will be the Golden Sugar Bomb. If it does land and forms part of a win then it will immediately boost the win multiplier up to its max of 256x.

Gobstopper 

The Gobstopper symbol will trigger is an instant win prize of 1x, 2x, 3x, 5x or 10x. The prize can be subject to the DoubleMax multiplier too.
