I played 200 spins on Toro 7s for free at Casumo Casino to test the game and this is what happened.

That was a strange session.  Firstly, Matador Wilds and Toro Wilds were rare – only 1 Toro Wild dropped and 3 Matador Wilds in 200 spins. That shows how tough this slot can be, and it’s not altogether surprising for a volatile game. However, what did surprise me is that the free spins triggered 5 times. Twice is unusual in 200, so 5 times is crazy. It’s brilliant when it does, thanks in part to that 5x multiplier which gives a big boost to all your wins. I didn’t crack the Lucky 7s feature but still brought up a 150x from 10 free spins which you can see in the shot below.

An Awesome Production With Iconic Visuals and Catchy Soundtrack

ELK Studios are truly channelling the spirit of Nevada in Toro 7s and for a 3×3 slot it looks and sounds superb. The action starts out on a dusty road at sunset, red rock mountains and a dilapidated roller coaster in the background and several signs bearing the word or number ‘7’ on them. You can feel the heat of the late afternoon. But the coolest part is the video screen that appears above the reel set, displaying Vegas sights before switching to POV your driving top down to Vegas in the free spins round!

There are 17 paylines, each triggered by landing 3 symbols across them. The paytable is made up of just 7 symbols, all classic slots icons. There are cherries, lemons and plums, valued at 0.5x, 1x and 1.5x respectively for 3 of each. The bars are worth 2.5x for 3. And the lucky 7s are worth 3.5x for 3 green, 5x for 3 blue and 10x for 3 red.

Onto the gameplay and if you thought you were in for a simple 3×3 slot game then think again, I was pleasantly surprised by how much extra ELK had built into this game.

Matador and Toro Wilds With Nudges, Re-Spins and Multipliers

The 2 wilds are powerful symbols that can help you score more wins. The Matador Wild is the simple of the two. He will trigger a Nudging Re-Spin when he lands where he nudges one place down. This continues until he nudges out of view.

The Toro Wild comes with a multiplier and also triggers the Nudging Re-Spin. Once again, nudges and re-spins occur until the Toro is out of sight.

The interesting part comes when BOTH land at the same time because now the Toro locks in place with his multiplier whilst the Matador nudges down with each re-spin until he disappears.

The free spins round here is generous and simple. You land 3 bonus symbols to get 10 spins. And all wins now have a 5x multiplier applied to them.

Lucky 7s Bonus Game

And finally, there is this really cool feature within a feature.

If you land 3 more bonus symbols on one spin on the free spins round then you trigger the Lucky 7s feature. The objective is to collect green 7s on reel 1, blue 7s on reel 2 and red 7s on reel 3. Once you have collected 5 of one then you score the maximum payout for that symbol – 3.5x, 5x and 10x respectively.

You start with 3 spins with the counter re-set to 3 each time a winning spin occurs or a 7 lands on its designated reel.

The Final Verdict

Toro 7s is a sunset ride to Vegas with the top down and the tunes most definitely turned up. ELK Studio have managed to turn a simple 3×3 game into a fun-filled slot with lots of regular features dropping. The two wilds can coax out some good wins on their own but it’s combinations of the two that are likely to do the most damage before you hit the bonus round. My test session produced an unusually large number of free spins events and projecting that pattern for your own sessions might be a dangerous game, but even so, with its 5x multiplier it showed that when it does go off, it has plenty of potential to drive big payouts.

It’s a shame the RTP is slightly under average here, but that’s only a small gripe, and Toro 7s has more than enough personality to see that off.
