More About These Slot Games
Here's what we made of the games when we tested them on Pragmatic Play's servers prior to release.
Blade and Fangs
This horror slot has a low-budget feel, more like a modern-day hammer movie than anything like to provoke real terror, but it’s all the more fun for it. The game plays out in a gothic church with plenty of werewolves, bats and scary skull figures on the reels. The game has a unique 2 reel set up, both 5x3 and one above the other. If you land multipliers on each simultaneously then the reels merge for a re-spin with more win ways. There is also a free spins round with a progressive multiplier where you can win up to 5,000x.
This game bared its high variance teeth over 200 spins with a low 20% hit rate but a top win of 76x in free spins.
The Big Dawgs
This cartoon slot with a hip hop theme was a superb play in testing with lots of fun moments including wins triggered by Colossal Wilds. The game uses a unique win ways system where wins are triggered by landing 3 or more identical symbols on adjacent reels from left to right OR top to bottom. It also uses a Tumble Wins feature after each win. Â Revealing the word DAWGS displayed across the middle reel or row from a winning spin and subsequent tumbles unlocks the bonus round with up to 10 spins and a progressive multiplier.
This one was also tight in testing with a hit rate of just 18% showing its high volatility. But it was super-fun and has the potential to kick out some big wins in the free spins round.
Castle of Fire
For their 3rd release of January 2024 Pragmatic Play produced this fantasy-themed slot set in a volcanic kingdom. This was fun to play in testing thanks to the Mystery Symbols which are, somewhat unusually, the headline feature. When these fire-y symbols drop they burst into flames and transform into the same symbol type. But also split into up to 3! The best part is, in the free spins round they will always stick on the reels. This way they can trigger huge payouts of up to 8,000x.
This volatile game produced a hit rate of 15% (very low) in testing but it did kick out a superb 232.5x win when all 5 reels contained sticky Mystery Symbols in the free spins round.
Year of the Dragon King
If you thought those 3 games were volatile, wait ‘til you get a peek at Year of the Dragon King. This game is packed with symbols of luck, fortune and prosperity and has a distinctly Oriental vibe. There is little to speak of in the base game but the bonus round comes with up to five 1-payline mini reels which just keep spinning until they turn a non-winning spin. And depending on the triggering spin these mini reels come with progressive multipliers that start at up to 5x and grow by up to 5x with each win!
This was by far the most volatile slot we’ve tested in a while. Over 300 spins it didn’t trigger its bonus once. With it’s simple gameplay and Oriental theme it will appeal those pure gamblers who like simple gameplay and high risk for high reward.
Blazing Wilds Megaways
This classic Megaways slot has a fruit machine vibe to it and utilises the classic 6 reels with up to 7 rows each and up to 117,649 paylines on each spin. It has one of the highest potential max wins of all the games on this page at 10,000x, and a bonus round where wilds that land turn symbols above them on the reels into wilds and trigger a random multiplier.

Good Luck and Good Fortune
There is no mystery in the theme of this game, a 5-reel slot with a more forgiving variance than many other Pragmatic Play releases. The reels are stacked with symbols of luck including 4 leaf clovers, lanterns and rabbits. Wild are central to the gameplay. When they land they trigger a further random number of wilds to drop onto the reels too. In the free spins round with more random wilds, scatters are collected in a meter, triggering a further 5 spins when 3 are collected.
This game has a more modest top win of just 2,100x.

Loki's Riches
And finally for January 2024, we have Loki’s Riches. This Norse-themed slot is a Cluster Pays game that plays on a 7x7 grid. Pragmatic Play are something of a specialist in Cluster Pays slots so this one should be good. It’s listed as having a ‘very high’ variance and a top win of 10,000x thanks to a progressive multiplier that tops out at a massive 128x. It grows when clusters form over positions on the grid that previously held winning symbols during the same tumble sequence.
