Aside from standard paylines wins, 3 Gladiators vs Caesar is all about landing scatters to trigger extra wilds or free spins. Here is how it works:
2 Scatters Add Wilds With Gladiator Feature In The Base Game
If you land TWO scatters on a spin in the base game then you will trigger one of three possible Gladiator Features.
Swords adds 2×1 or 1×2 wilds onto the reels in random positions.
Mace adds 2×2 wilds onto the reels in random positions.
Trident adds FOUR standard wilds onto the reels in random positions.
3, 4 or 5 Scatters Triggers Free Spins
The most powerful features in the game are the free spins ones. Yggdrasil ask you to make a choice about how you want the round to be configured, with varying levels of risk. This makes it interesting.
Choosing Challange or Death Match ModeYou need AT LEAST 3 scatters to land to trigger the round. Then you can choose between Challenge and Death Match modes.
The safe option is Challenge Mode where you get 8 spins and keep all your winnings.
In Death Match Mode you can opt for more spins with a lower win multiplier of vice versa like this:
- 7 Free Spins and a 2x Multiplier
- 6 Free Spins and a 3x Multiplier
- 5 Free Spins and a 4x Multiplier
There is no right choice here. You might like the idea of big multipliers or prefer to have more spins to win on. It’s called Death Match because you MUST reach a total win of 22.5x by the end of your chosen number of spins. If you don’t get there, your wins are wiped out. Although Yggdrasil must have been feeling generous because if you don’t hit the magic 22.5x then you will be granted a consolation prize of between 2x and 10x or 5 Challenge Mode spins!!
NOTE: One important thing to keep in mind here is that the multiplier ONLY applies to your TOTAL win from the round if you hit the 22.5x target. It’s not applied to your wins during the free spins. That is somewhat confusing!
Finally, to add to the fun there is the Free Spins Battle. This is where the 3 Gladiators finally get to take on Caesar.
Before the round starts, one gladiator is chosen to battle Caesar. During the round, Caesar ONLY appears on reels 2, 3 and 4. When he does then all premium gladiator symbols are replaced with the chosen ONE. The chosen gladiator will also throw their weapon at the reels to award their wilds (Sword, Mace or Trident) on EVERY spin.
And if they hit Caesar with their weapon, then an extra spin is awarded too.
