Big Bass Halloween 2
By Pragmatic Play
Yet another Big Bass game arrives at UK slot sites in October 2024. It’s called Halloween 2, and it follows the same format as Big Bass Splash. It’s all about the free spins round where wilds collect the cash values of fish worth up to 5,000x when they land together. There are also FIVE random modifiers including extra spins and multipliers. Collecting wilds in the free spins round extends the round by up to 30 spins and brings a multiplier of up to 10x into play.
Spins start at 10p and the max win is 5,000x.

What Our Reviewer Says …
Creepy visuals and audio and a dose of humour carry another Big Bass game despite VERY familiar gameplay
What We Like
- Nice visual and audio production with humour and horror mixed together
- Up to 5 modifiers available in free spins
- Regular free spins triggers - 3 times in 200 spins in our tests
- Fish symbols worth up to 5,000x
- Progressive element in free spins round is exciting
What We Didn't Like
- Max win is just 5,000x
- Same gameplay is found in many other Big Bass slots
Theme and Design
Big Bass Halloween 2 gives the classic fishing slot a blood-soaked makeover but the reels and setting remain pretty much the same. In some bass lake in the states night has fallen and our friendly fisherman has gone psycho. He wields a chainsaw whilst some of the fish seem to have zombi-fied too. Despite its gory theme Halloween 2 is not really a scary slot in the way NLC games are. It’s more humourous. Overall it’s not a bad looking game and a slightly menacing soundtrack adds good atmosphere.

RTP and Variance
Big Bass Halloween 2 has 3 RTP rates - 96.71%, 95.67% and 94.6%. This is normal for Pragmatic Play slots and it will be up to your slot site operator to decide which setting to run the game on. There is not much between the 3 but I would recommend playing at 96.71% if you can. You can check the RTP wherever you play by hitting the ‘I’ button under the reels then scrolling through the game rules until you see Return to Player.
Our recommendation is to play at MrQ from Lindar Media because in our research we have found they consistently run slots at optimum RTP.
No surprise to learn that this is a high variance slot like almost ALL the Big Bass games. They can blow hot and cold and sometimes the win rate is very low. So beware. Of course, on the flipside they can kick out some tasty wins too.
Maximum Win
Pragmatic Play have not been generous with the max win here. It sits at 5,000x, making it at the lower end of the Big Bass slots. There are just a few of these games with high max wins including Big Bass Day At The Races (10,000x) and Big Bass Bonanza Keeping It Reel (10,000x).
And for even bigger payouts I also recommend reading our guide to Pragmatic Play slots with highest max wins.
Symbols and Paytable
No surprises with the configuration of the game. You get 5 reels, 3 rows and 10 paylines, with wins triggered by landing 3 or more identical symbols from left to right on a payline, starting at the left most reel.

The paytable is familiar with a few horror-movie extras thrown in for good measure. Low value symbols are the cards, 10 to Ace, valued at from 0.2x for 3 10s up to 10x for 5 Aces. The premiums are the bass fish (now zombies of course), the tackle box, weird alien, chainsaw and truck. These go from 1x for 3 bass up to 200x for 5 trucks.
Wilds – your mad-eyed pyscho fisherman – fill in for pay symbols to complete win lines AND collect cash in the bonus round.
Features and Gameplay
Again, no surprises with the gameplay here. Nothing much doing in the base game other than payline wins whilst you wait for those scatters to drop. Then the fun begins.
3 Or More Bass Scatters Unlock Free Spins
You need 3 or more bass scatters to trigger the bonus round. That gets you 10, 15 or 20 free spins for 3, 4 or 5 scatters.
There is a ‘near miss’ feature as well that we see in other Big Bass slots. So, if you land TWO scatters but not the third then:
IF the two scatters can drop down one reel without falling off the screen, then they nudge down one and the reels respin to see if you can land a third.
OR … a hook appears and drops down before pulling one reel up to show a third scatter.

Up To 5 Free Spins Round Modifiers
This part of Big Bass Halloween 2 is taken directly from Big Bass Splash and it certainly spices things up. FIVE modifiers are available for the free spins round. From 1 to 5 will be chosen at random before the spins start.
- More Fish – more fish money symbols are available to be caught
- More Fishermen – more wilds are available to catch those fish money symbols
- More Dynamite, Hooks and Chainsaws – more chance of triggering either of these 3 features
- Start From Level 2 – you go straight to the second level on the progressive board above the reels with a bigger multiplier
- + 2 Spins – this powerful modifier starts the round with 2 more spins AND adds 2 more to every level on the progressive board

Fish Money Symbols and Wilds
The idea is simple. Fish landing during free spins display money values of 2x, 5x, 10x, 15x, 20x, 25x, 50x, 100x, 200x, 500x, 1,666x, 2,500x or 5,000x.
You need to land fish money symbols AND fisherman wilds at the same time to collect the money values.
Progressive Board and Multipliers
The best part about the bonus round is the chance to build a big win multiplier and extend the round. You do this by collecting wilds. Each time one lands it is added to the board above the reels and every FOURTH one collected triggers a level-up.
- 4 Wilds – 10 more spins and 2x multiplier
- 8 Wilds – 10 more spins and 3x multiplier
- 12 Wilds – 10 more spins and 10x multiplier
Second Chances …
As with other Big Bass games, there are second chances when fish symbols land but no wild, or the other way around.
Firstly, if fisherman wilds are present but no fish, a dynamite feature causes an explosion which MAY bring fish onto the reels OR a chainsaw will move across the screen causing all symbols except wilds to change, MAYBE bringing fish symbols into play.
Alternatively, if there are fish but no wilds then a hook may appear and bring fisherman wilds up onto the reels.
And that’s your lot. As I said, anyone who has played Big Bass Splash will recognise this as pretty much a clone of that slot.
Final Verdict
The sights and sounds make Halloween 2 worth playing even though it is a very familiar mash up of previous Big Bass games. The features are as compelling as ever and the frequency with which the free spins round drops means if you’re willing to stick at it for at least 100 spins then you’ should get a few cracks at a hitting a big win.
Testing Notes
Test spins and results analysis by Mark Wadie.
Results from 200 spins on Big Bass Halloween 2 on Pragmatic Play’s test servers before release.
- Stake Size: 1
- Start balance: 100,000
- End balance: 100,048.9
- Hit Rate: 10% (20 winning spins in 200)
- Biggest Win: 85x
- Free Spins Round: 3
This was very typical of Big Bass games. They are massively weighted towards the free spins rounds where the cash collects happen. As a result the win rates tend to be very low, in this case just 10%. That means 90% of spins produced nothing. On the flip side, the free spins rounds in my experience trigger more frequently than in other games. In this instance, 3 times in 200 spins. Whilst the biggest base game win was a 20x, my best free spins round produced an 85x payout.

The round itself is one of the better ones from Big Bass games. It has both the progressive feature which gets you more spins and a bigger multiplier if you land enough wilds, AND the extra modifiers chosen before the round starts. For example, for the 85x win I started with an extra 12 spins and a 2x multiplier which helped me to get to bigger wins faster.
Take aways? Nothing new here but the free spins round remains compelling and the production is great fun with good sound affects to compliment those creepy visuals.
