I extended this test session to 250 spins to see if I could trigger the free spins round but still no joy. That reflects the high variance of the game – some games can take 300 or more spins to unlock a bonus feature. The downside is, in this case there isn’t much else to Hot Fiesta. The rest of the game is spent chasing down multiplier wilds and it all felt very samey. The best win was an 18x – shown below – for a win including 2 multiplier wilds.

A Sunny, Colorful Festival Slot With Upbeat Soundtrack

Hot Fiesta follows a generic Hispanic summer festival template with a Spanish street providing the backdrop, stacked with bunting and confetti. The reels meanwhile are equally overflowing with guitars, accordians, senors and senoritas in party mode. There is nothing particularly original here but it serves its purpose.

Here is how it all works:

Multiplier Wilds

The wild performs its standard role of replacing all other icons to help form wins, but in Hot Fiesta it also comes with a random Multiplier of 2x, 3x or 5x. The multipliers come into play when the wild forms part of the win. When more than one is part of the win, then they are added together before being applied to the payout. So, a 2x and 3x make a 5x!

Free Spins With Roaming Wild Multipliers

To trigger the free spins round you must land 3 Scatters on reels 1, 3 and 5 simultaneously. At this point, from 9 to 27 free spins are randomly awarded. You’ll find out how many you get by watching 3 Pinatas explode on the screen, each showing a number. The total of the numbers is your free spins.

Hot Fiesta plays like a pretty average slot – there are no great surprises or unexpected features. However, for those who love high variance action and the classic multiplier wilds and free spins combination, it could represent a good choice. The roaming element does provide at least some unexpected hits in the free spins round which is where you need to get to have any chance of triggering big wins. However, Pragmatic Play have produced more interesting slots in their time and this isn’t their most memorable release.
