Theme and Design
Dramatic Primal Atmosphere For Big Win Hunters!
ReelPlay have created an epic-looking game invoking a prehistoric age of volcanic mountains and lush jungles populated by dinosaurs including T-Rexs and pterodactyls. Center stage is a giant reel set built in stone and lit up by flaming torches that rattles around as the reels spin, spitting fire in the lines around the rows that combine to form gigablox on each spin. It’s a dramatic scene and the artwork is really well crafted, backed by a tribal drumbeat soundtrack that adds to the atmosphere.

RTP and Variance
Primal Hunter Gigablox runs at an optimum return to player of 96%. However, there are also settings of 94%, 90.5% and 86%. Check the RTP wherever you play by hitting the ‘?’ to the right of the reels then scrolling though until you see Return To Player. To get the best return I recommend playing at Casumo or Barz Casino (White Hat Gaming) both of which consistently run games at their highest RTP.
This is also a medium-high variance slot so it will be a volatile game with an uneven win distribution and where the right combination of free spins and multipliers can really make the game go off.
Maximum Win
The game has a max win of 7,595x which isn’t bad but doesn’t quite scale the heights that you might expect from a game that is built around the idea of epic-size apex predators. If you want to chase down higher value payouts then I recommend taking a look at the games in our list of highest paying slots.
Symbols and Paytable
This is a 6 reel and 4 row slot with 40 active paylines on every spin. You’ll need to land 3 or more identical symbols across a line from left to right, starting at the left most reel, to trigger a win.
To help you, the game uses ReelPlay’s Gigablox mechanic where reels combine on EVERY spin to create larger symbols of 2x2 or 4x4 in size. These can be ANY symbol from the paytable including wilds and scatters.

There are 10 pay symbols in the paytable. These are the 6 cards – 9, 10, Jack, Queen, King and Ace – valued at from 0.05x for 3 9s up to 1.5x for 6 Aces. The premiums are the 4 animals including the pterodactyl, sabre-toothed tiger and the T-Rex. These are valued at from 0.175x for 3 pterodactyls up to 3.75x for 6 T-Rexs.
There is also a pre-historic hunter character, a bearded man, who represents the Wild. This will substitute for all pay symbols to complete pay lines and has its own value at 0.5x, 1x, 2.5x or 10x for 3, 4, 5 or 6 on a payline.
Features and Gameplay
Primal Hunter Gigablox is a very simple slot using classic cascades, win multipliers and free spins. Here is how it works.
Cascading Wins
In both base game and free spins round winning symbols are removed from the reels after each win. Remaining symbols drop down to fill the spaces and new ones drop from above to replace those ones. If more wins occur then the process repeats until no more wins are formed.
Free Spins and Progressive Multipliers
This is where you really want to get to in this game. Free spins are triggered by landing 5 or more scatters on one spin. Scatters are represented by the skull symbol.
It’s simple. You get 2 free spins for every scatter that lands on the triggering spin. And during the round for each win cascade a progressive multiplier starting at 1x increases by 1x. There is no limit to the size of this multiplier which does NOT re-set between spins and is applied to ALL wins throughout the round.
Finally, you can extend the free spins round by landing another 5 or more scatters on one spin. This time you get 1 more spin per scatter.
Final Verdict
ReelPlay have created a really good slot for fans of high-risk gameplay. The production is excellent with eye-catching visuals and sounds, and the no-nonsense features, stripped back to the bare bones of free spins and progressive multipliers will appeal to anyone who likes to just gun for glory without the complication of too many enhancements. The only minor quibble is that the max win was not set higher than 7,595x.
Testing Notes
I played 200 spins on Primal Hunter Gigablox on Reel Play’s test server prior to release to test the game. This is what happened.
- Stake Size: €1
- Start balance: €11,000
- End balance: €10,897.07
- Hit Rate: 19.5% (39 winning spins in 200)
- Biggest Win: 23.37x
- Free Spins Round: 0
Primal Hunter Gigablox is billed as a medium-high variance slot but it felt more like a high variance in every way over this short test session. The hit rate was just 19.5% which is low, even for a volatile game, and most wins came in at 5x or less. There was one good moment where a 23.37x win came from a run of 3 cascades culminating in 15 10s across the reels, shown in the screenshot.

I never unlocked the free spins. It can take 250 or more in high variance slots so it’s not totally unusual, but without much else going on in the base game it made Primal Hunter feel like a bit of a slog. The dramatic shaking and fire that highlights the gigablox reels is fun to start, but the novelty can wear off quite quickly if you don’t land some good wins. In short, whilst a great looking game, this is definitely a slot for high-risk fans who have the patience to chase down the big moments.
