10,000 Big Bass Lightning Blitz is a fishing slot from ReelPlay with a cash collect feature. Bass symbols carry cash values of up to 9x or jackpot values of up to 2,000x. Landing a wild on a special 4×1 top reel at the same time as a bass collects its value and triggers a tumble and maybe more wins. In the free spins round wilds are guaranteed on each spin and only bass and blanks land on the main reel set ensuring more payouts. Max win is 4,660x and spins start at 20p.

Testing Notes: Here’s What Happened When We Played 10,000 Big Bass Lightning Blitz

IMPORTANT: To give you an accurate assessment of the games we review our writers play 200 spins. Whilst this is a useful tool to help us review games and to give an example of what might happen when you play, keep in mind that 200 spins is only a very small sample and cannot be used to accurately predict what might happen over another 200 spins. The outcome of all slots play is always random.

Boom Or Bust? Our Session By The Numbers

I played 200 spins on 10,000 Big Bass Lightning Blitz on ReelPlay’s test server prior to release to test the game. This is what happened.

  • Stake Size: 1
  • Start balance: 1,000
  • End balance: 919.30
  • Hit Rate: 20.05% (41 winning spins in 200)
  • Biggest Win: 10.8x
  • Free Spins Round: 0

10,000 Big Bass Lightning Blitz was really tight over this short 200 spin session. Unlike a Pragmatic Play Big Bass game it rarely gave me a cash collect win. In fact I saw just 5 in total, with a top win of 10.8x. The wilds were a rare sight in the top reel. Still, the overall win rate was 20.05% which isn’t too bad. The problem is that the pay symbols are all very low values – maxing at just 5x for the top paying premium – so scoring a big payout is very hard without doing it via cash collects or free spins. As for that bonus round, I never got close. You need scatters to land on the top reel first, then more to land on the main set. The top reel revealed a scatter 4 times, but there were never any below.

A near miss – scatter on the top reel but not enough on the main set

The best I can say is that the game has a good feel to it with nice visuals and a pleasant soundtrack, but the variance just felt way higher than expected.

What We Liked

  • Fixed JP bass symbols worth up to 2,000x
  • Massive 10,000 paylines

  • Cheerful and upbeat theme and soundtrack
  • Guraranteed wilds on every spin in free spins

What We Didn't like

  • Max win is just 4,660x
  • No free spins re-triggers

What Our Reviewer Says ...

"Tumble wins create an interesting variation on the classic big bass cash collect theme but beware the volatility in this one!"

Overall Score: 7.2

Theme & Design

Our Score 8

A Spot Of Fishing In An Idyllic Mountain Setting

ReelPlay’s bass adventure does not have the typical sea or lake backdrop found in many fishing slots. Instead, we are taken to a wild mountain setting with a foaming river in the foreground and snow-capped mountains behind. You could be somewhere deep in the Rockies. It’s a pleasant scene, backed by the same style of cheerful banjo soundtrack that you find in Pragmatic’s Big Bass series.

RTP and Variance

Our Score 7

What is RTP?

RTP (Return to Player) refers to the amount a game will pay out in cash prizes expressed as a percentage of all the money wagered on that game. For example, a 96% RTP means a game will pay out £96 for every £100 wagered. This is an average number and will vary from one session to the next.  Read more here.

What is Variance?

Variance refers to how far a game will deviate from its RTP over time. High variance games deviate a lot and produce uneven win distributions and unexpected windfalls. Low variance games provide a more stable and even distribution of wins. Read more here.

10,000 Big Bass Lightning Blitz has 2 RTP rates – 96.11% and 94.36%. You want to be playing at the higher RTP rate if possible. It will be at your slot site operator’s discretion which rate the game runs on. Wherever you play you can check the RTP for yourself by hitting the hamburger button in the bottom right corner of the game screen and scrolling down until you see Theoretical Return to Player.

The game has a medium-high variance so the win distribution will be a little uneven but 10,000 Big Bass certainly has the power to kick out some big win sequences on its day.

Maximum Win

Our Score 6

What Is Maximum Win?

Maximum win refers to the maximum amount a player can win from one spin. It is expressed as a multiple of the stake. For example, where the maximum win is 100,000x, from a £1 stake, the maximum win would be £100,000.

The maximum win in 10,000 Big Bass Lightning is a somewhat underwhelming 4,660x. For a mid to high variance slot that is nothing special. If you are looking for better potential from your slot then check out our list of the highest max win games.

Symbols and Paytable

Our Score 7

This is a 6 reel slot with 4 rows and a special 4×1 reel that spins independently and horizontally to create a massive 10,000 paylines.

There is not huge value in the pay table BUT the bass cash symbols make up for that as we will see.

Paytable with 5x for 6 tackle boxes

There are 9 pay symbols in the table. These are the cards, 9 through to Ace, worth from 0.1x for 3 9s up to 1x for 6 Aces, and the spinner with hook, mayfly and tackle box, worth from 0.25x for 3 spinners up to 5x for 6 tackle boxes.

There is also a wild, represented by the fisherman, who will substitute for any pay symbol to complete a payline. He ONLY appears on the top 4×1 reel.

Features and Gameplay

Our Score 8

10,000 Big Bass Lightning Blitz follows the standard bass fishing slot format with cash collect fish symbols. However, a tumble win feature and additional jackpots add jeopardy to the gameplay.

Bass Cash Collects And Tumbles

Bass symbols come in 3 sizes – small worth between 1x and 1.75x, medium worth between 2x and 4x, and large worth between 5x and 9x. There are also 4 jackpot versions – mini (10x), minor (50x), major (250x) and grand (2,000x).

To activate a prize, the fisherman wild must land at the same times as a Bass. Remember, the wild only appears on the top reel.

After a cash or jackpot collect then the wilds and bass symbols are removed and new symbols drop in from above (or the right on the top reel) to replace them in a classic tumble format. This may trigger more wins and more cash collects.

NOTE: The mini and minor JPs may be awarded more than once in the spin and subsequent tumbles, but major and grands can only be awarded once.

Lightning Blitz Free Spins

There is also a free spins round, triggered by landing 4 or more scatters, represented by the game’s logo. But once again the top reel is important because scatters can only land on the main reel set if one lands on the top 4×1 reel.

Free spins are awarded as follows:

  • 4 scatters: 2 free spins
  • 5 scatters: 3 free spins
  • 6 scatters: 5 free spins
  • 7 scatters: 7 free spins

This feature drives more cash collects because now there are only bass symbols or blanks on the main reels and wilds and blanks on the top reel. And you are GUARANTEED to land a wild on EVERY spin.

So, a powerful free spins feature, but it can’t be re-triggered.

The Final Verdict

With so many bass and other fishing slots out there right now, if you’re going to create another, you better have something interesting to add to the mix. ReelPlay opted for many more paylines and a tumble wins mechanic, which on the face of it is a good shout. That, combined with the alternative mountain setting ensures this slot stands out at least. However, I found the game engine just too tight to really enjoy our session – those cash collects were just too rare. And with a top win of just 4,660x there isn’t enough potential here to make me want to come back and cast my line again.

Useful Tips When Playing 10,000 Big Bass Lightning Blitz

Remember, online slots are games of chance, there is NO strategy that can improve your odds of winning. However, reading our review and following these tips will help you get the most out of your time playing this slot game.

1. Watch The Top Reel At All Times

Keep your eyes on that top 4×1 reel for fisherman wilds to land. You need those to trigger the cash collects. AND watch out for scatters too. These only land on the main reel set when one lands on the top reel too.

2. Choose A Low Stake

Use a good bankroll management strategy because this is a high variance slot which can burn your balance fast. You can stake a minimum of 20p per spin to stretch your balance further as you chase down those wins.

3. Check The RTP Before You Play

To give yourself the best chance of a positive return on your wagering make sure you play at the optimum RTP. Check the game info screen at your slot site and try elsewhere if it is less than 96.11%.

4. Play At Our Recommended Slot Sites
