An 80s-Style Retro Slot With Neon Reno Backdrop and Synth Soundtrack

Quickspin have veered of course from their usual design style for Reno 7s. This is a studio that is known for its fantasy fairy tale games with plenty of features and slick, instantly recognisable illustrative style and pastel colors.

But for Reno 7s everything is much simpler.

Reno city skyline provides the backdrop, drawn in an 80s style with lots of neon and bathed in a pink sunset. It’s all a bit reminiscent of Miami Vice or other 80s US shows. Meanwhile, the reel set in the foreground is more like an old-fashioned Wheel of Fortune game. Then, in the free spins round the action moves to the Reno strip, with hotels, bars and casinos in the background. Despite its simplistic design, the game's style grew on me, helped by the funky synth track in the background for added atmosphere.

RTP and Variance

Reno 7s has a just under average RTP of 95.98%. Despite coming in at under 96% it’s still a reasonable return. This is a high variance slot as our testing session showed, so don’t expect any mercy. It’s more about chasing irregular, big wins in a high risk betting environment than expecting a nice regular run of small payouts.

Maximum Win

Symbols and Paytable

This is a very simple slot with just 3 reels, 3 rows and 5 paylines in play at all times. What is impressive though is the high values in the paytable.

The symbols in Reno 7s include low-paying plums, lemons and watermelons, which award 1x to 3x stake for 3 of a kind. There are also high-paying bars, bells and lucky 7s, which award 8x, 15x or 77x stake for 3 of a kind. The diamond is the Wild symbol in the game and this awards the same as the lucky 7s, while also substituting for the other pay symbols to complete paylines.

Wheel of 7s Bonus With Prizes Of Up To 7,777x

If you land 2 or more Scatter symbols – the Wheel of Fortune - then the Wheel of 7s Bonus will begin. This means the half wheel above the reel set will spin and reveal a prize. You can win a cash prize of 5x, 7x, 22x, 55x, 77x, 777x or 7,777x stake in this way. But it’s also possible to trigger 15 Free Spins if the wheel lands on the star segment.

You can launch the Free Spins round by landing the star segment on the Wheel of 7s Bonus feature OR when you land THREE Wheel Scatters on a normal spin, which launches the Wheel of 7s Bonus in addition to crediting 15 Free Spins.

During free spins, the Wild symbols always expand to cover the full reel when they appear AND this round is re-triggerable if 3 more Scatters land once again, with no limit to how many times this can be done.

For the record, over 200 spins in a test session I never landed 3 scatters on a single spin. However, I was able to trigger free spins twice through landing stars on the Bonus Wheel after landing 2 scatters.
