Theme and Design
A Lush Jungle Setting and Dramatic Jungle Drums Set The Scene ...
With an Aztec Jungle theme, this slot’s artwork screams adventure. The backdrop is a leafy rainforest and the pay grid is flanked by flaming torches. The theme continues onto the reels with jungle animals and members of the tribe.

Symbols and Paytable
Played on a 5x4 grid there are just 10 paylines. Sure, it’s not that many, but the aim of this slot seems to be to keep things simple. You make wins by matching at least three symbols which need to appear on consecutive reels from the left.
There are 11 winning symbols that all have slightly different payouts. The lowest value symbols are the stones which give 2.5x your bet for 3x symbols up to 5x your bet for 5x symbols. The high paying symbols are the inhabitants of the jungle, these give 10x your bet for 3x symbols and up to 30x your bet for 5x symbols. The animal tiles sit right in the middle of these, giving you a good spread of options.

Features and Gameplay
This game is all about the Dream Drops jackpot, but there are two other interesting features that we should also look into. Let’s find out exactly how they work first, then we’ll move onto the jackpot.
Wild Reels
The wild symbol is kind of a big deal in this game. If you land five of them then you win 50x your stake. So how do you do that?
Every time a coin lands on the grid, it’s collected and added to the reel counter - the snakes at the top of the grid. As soon as the counter reaches two, the reel underneath it becomes fully wild for two spins. If in those two spins you manage to line up five of the wilds, you get that bumper payout.
Free Spins
Scatter symbols are next. If you land 3, 4, or 5, of them at once then you’re awarded 7, 12 or 16 free spins respectively. During the free spins round, if any reel becomes wild (as we discussed above) it stays wild until the end of the round. Also, every wild reel also gives you an additional free spin when it first appears.
Dream Drop
The Dream Drop Jackpot round is what we’re all hoping pops up. It can do so randomly at any time as long as five DD symbols land in one spin, the bonus is activated.
During the round, you can only land stone blocks or DD symbols. The DD symbols land and stay on the five different reels, while stone blocks are blasted out of the way. The first reel to completely fill with DD blocks denotes your prize. The prizes are seeded as follows:

- Major (seeded at €25,000)

Final Verdict
Snake’s Gold has a tried and tested theme that many slots players will love and the opportunity to shoot for a huge progressive jackpot with a stake of just £0.20 can’t be sniffed at. However, with such high variance and a relatively low non-progressive max win, its only really made for serious jackpot chasers. Along the way, wild reels make a powerful and exciting way to score wins, especially when they stick in the free spins round. Ovearll a good game but not the easiest entry point to the Dream Drop network.
Testing Notes
I played 250 spins on Snake’s Gold for free. This is what happened.

As you can see from the hit on the balance, this was a particularly unforgiving session, showing, like many Dream Drop games, just how volatile Snake’s Gold can be. The win rate was particularly low at just 12% of spins (NOTE: this is lower than the advertised rate of 20% - you might not be so unlucky!). That’s not to say that those wild reels don’t show up a lot - I counted 39 in total (15.6% of spins) but they don't always produce a payout.
It’s a relentless task, waiting for 2 coins to trigger a wild reel. The best stuff happens when you get 2 or more firing at once, but they rarely synch which is frustrating. I had 2 or more in play simultaneously on just 3 occasions. The best win from 2 wild reels was a 10x which you can see in this screenshot.
But in fact the best win of all was a 12.5x which was not triggered by wild reels at all. Simply a standard base game spin and a bunch of premium red snakes shown here.
The free spins round didn’t trigger at all. Nor did the Dream Drop game. It’s a harsh lesson in the volatility of this one and a reminder it won’t suit all players, only those prepared to ride out the dry spells.
