Trigger Happy was a really fun game to play. Despite its high variance the action is relentless. A 25% win rate, roughly 1 in 4 spins, is pretty decent. And with a guaranteed wild on every spin, and sometimes a multiplier or bomb too, it felt like there was always something happening and a payout about to trigger.

Trigger Happy Big Win — A 240x on the last free spin in testing

I was lucky to hit the free spins round after just 35 spins and it triggered a 293.85x win including a 240x on the final spin which is in the screenshot. That was down to a big cluster of wilds including 3 4x multipliers. The free spins feature is crazy as you have 2 targets on every spin to add multipliers to your wilds, and with bombs going off to add extra wilds to the grid too, the payouts can escalate very quickly as I found out. Of course, with a 50,000x max win this game can go much, much further, but this short test session showed us a bit of what its about.

A Nostalgia Trip From BTG As We Head To A Seaside Arcade

BTG sometimes like to give their games familiar, down to earth settings, from the suburban garden in Fireworks to the promenade in Pop. Trigger Happy has that feel too, taking us to a classic arcade hall, the kind you might find on a seaside town pier, where you might go fruitlessly dipping for fluffy toys or play old skool arcade games. The 5×5 grid is set in a box with different colored fluffy critters crammed into every space. An 80s-style electro tune plays in the background to complete the nostalgia trip. I’m not sure it will be everyone’s cup of tea, but its certainly memorable.

There are 7 fluffy critter pay symbols in the table in lilac, yellow, orange, green, blue, red and purple. Their values range from 0.1x for 5 lilac right up to 50x for 15 or more purple. BTG use a really neat trick in this game to activate wilds, multipliers and free spins and your eyes will be transfixed on the targets that move around the screen, and those bonus panels that reveal features. Pay attention to how it all works …

Cascading Wins

BTG are one of the most frequent exponents of the cascading wins feature, also called Reactions. After each win, winning symbols are removed from the grid and new ones drop in to replace them. This process keeps going until no more wins occur.

Targets and Wild Multipliers

Wilds appear frequently in this game. In fact, on EVERY spin and with every Reaction a new Wild is added to the grid. To make it fun, a target appears over the grid on the position in which the Wild will appear.

Bonus Panels With Multipliers, Bombs and Coins

Look to the left and bottom of the grid. There you will see two bonus panels which light up with each spin to add enhancements to your spins.

Multipliers – If a multiplier lights up on a panel on the same row or reel as the target that adds the wild, then the multiplier value is added to the wild.

Bombs – when a bomb lights up on a panel, it takes out it’s full row or reel of symbols, adding up to FOUR wilds in place of the symbols that were there.

Coins – if the target position aligns with a coin on both panels then 8 free spins are awarded.

Free Spins With TWO Wild Targets

During the free spins round TWO targets appear on every spin and reaction to add more wilds to the grid and possibly activate the features from the two panels.

And a free spins round can be extended by aligning coins on both panels with either of the target positions on a spin or reaction. That gets you 3 more spins each time.

Win Exchange and Gamble Feature

It is also possible to enter the free spins round via the Win Exchange. Where you score a win of 100x or more, you can simply exchange that prize for 8 spins.

Trigger Happy is BTG doing what they do best. It’s a slot that is entertaining and innovative, and with bags of potential. As I said already, the gameplay is relentless and with all those spins, reactions, bombs and multipliers going off it never rests. As far as production goes, we already know that BTG love their 80s nostalgia – you see 80s hits in many of their games – and they’ve wrapped this one up with neat visuals and audio from that era to complete the package too. In short, perhaps not on the level of a Bonanza or a Danger! High Voltage, but Trigger Happy still has the personality to make it a sure fire hit amongst BTG’s many fans.
