What Is Fishin' Frenzy?

Fishin' Frenzy is a slot series developed by Blueprint Gaming, but originally started by Australian outfit, Reel Time Gaming, a decade ago. The first Fishin' Frenzy slot – called simply, Fishin' Frenzy – came out in 2014. At first site it doesn’t look like much, though the friendly cartoon design, seaside pier sound affects and simple gameplay are certainly endearing.

Perhaps because of its charm and simplicity, the series caught on. After a long wait, in 2019 the second Fishin' Frenzy slot was released, a Megaways version. There are now more than 20 Fishin' Frenzy games including scratchcard, bingo and Slingo versions, and even a seasonal Christmas one.

Fishin' Frenzy slots are almost always 5 reels, 3 rows and 10 paylines. Like many online slots, the base game can be quite slow. Indeed, there are no special features. Instead, it’s all about the free spins round and a cash collect feature where fisherman wild symbols collect the cash values of fish symbols if they land on the reels at the same time.

This free spins round appears in one form or another in all Fishin Frenzy games. It has also been the inspiration for bonus features in 100s of other fishing slots including Pragmatic Play’s Big Bass Bonanza series.

Fishin’ Frenzy slots RTPs are a mixed bag. The first in the series had a favourable 96.12% RTP which is about average for an online slot game. The RTP has dropped with subsequent releases, though it rarely dips below 95%, except when the game is part of the Jackpot King Progressive Jackpot network when jackpot contributions eat into RTP, bringing it down as low as 93.32% in case of The Big Catch Jackpot King game for example.
