Theme and Design
Baron Lord of Saturday has a sort of comedy voodoo theme. The backdrop is a moonlit graveyard at night with white candles fluttering in the breeze and a slinky snake eyeing you up from the side of the reels. The reel set itself sits within the frame of a stone mausoleum whilst the paytable is stacked with classic voodoo imagery including potion bottles and painted skulls. It might be a dark subject matter but the cartoon style and slow jazzy soundtrack will put you at ease. There’s nothing too scary here.

RTP and Variance
Baron Lord of Saturday has five RTP rates which is standard for Play n Go slots. They are 96.2%, 94.2%, 91.2%, 87.2% and 84.2%. Which you play at will depend on the slot site operator. Some run at the top end. Other squeeze the margins, and your wins, by setting the game to less than 90%. We recommend you avoid those sites.
Wherever you play you can check the RTP rate by browsing the game rules page from the link at the bottom of the game screen. In our own experience, MrQ from Lindar Media makes a good option for high RTP. They always run Play n Go games at the optimum RTP rates.
This is also a volatile slot from a provider who can crank up the dial from time to time so be ready for that. The win distribution could be pretty uneven.
Maximum Win
Play n Go have capped the payouts at a max of just 3,500x which is very poor in comparison to most high variance slots these days. We’re talking a £350 win for a 10p stake with very long odds. If that doesn’t appeal, you could try our list of Play n Go slots with high max wins instead, including games with max wins of 50,000x.
Symbols and Paytable
The format here is simple. 5 reels, 4 rows and 20 paylines with wins scored by landing 3 or more identical symbols on a line from left to right, starting at the left most reel.

The pay table doesn’t have huge value in it – as you might expect from a game with a 3,500x max win. Low payers are the potion bottles valued at from 0.4x for 3 green ones up to 2x for 5 of the yellow ones. The premiums are the hat with a skull, cigar, voodoo doll, and the two voodoo masters. These are valued at from 0.8x for 3 hats up to just 8x for 5 of the voodoo masters.
There is also a Wild that appears only on reels 2, 3 and 4. It substitutes for all symbols except for the bonus scatter.
Features and Gameplay
Baron Lord of Saturday is not a complex slot to understand. It’s really just about wilds in different formats – randomly dropping, expanding and hitting with multipliers in the free spins round. This is how it works:
Up to 6 Random Wilds Added To The Reels
On any spin you may see between 3 and 6 wilds randomly added to the reels to increase your chances of triggering a win.
Random Wild Reels
You may also find that any of reels 2, 3 or 4 turn completely wild on a spin. Only ONE of the reels can do this on a single spin. For the reel to turn wild, it must be lit up during the spin and then a wild must land on it. The wild will then expand to fill the reel, taking out other symbols as it does.

Bonus Symbols And The Free Spins Round
The highlight of the game is the free spins round. This is triggered when just TWO or more BONUS symbols - which display the word ‘BONUS’ on them – land on the same spin. You need to keep your eyes on reels 1 and 5 because BONUS symbols can ONLY land on those.
The free spins round is super-charged and definitely where you want to be.
Firstly, you get 8 spins where ALL wilds carry a 2x multiplier that will applied to any win they form a part of.
Secondly, you can now get up to THREE wild reels activated at any time. Remember it was only one during the base game.
And finally, there is a progressive element to this phase of the game. BONUS symbols are now collected and every FOUR you collect upgrades your multiplier and gets you 3 more spins as follows:
- 4 BONUS symbols – 3 more spins and 3x wild multipliers
- 8 BONUS symbols – 3 more spins and 5x wild multipliers
- 12 BONUS symbols – 3 more spins and 10x wild multipliers
NOTE: If you get to the top level then BONUS symbols will no longer appear on the reels.
Final Verdict
This is a fun, simple slot for those who like their spookiness to be a little light-hearted. The gameplay is easy to follow and whilst the base game can be slow at times, the configuration of the free spins round with its progressive multipliers set up and chance to extend by up to 9 spins, suggests that the Baron will pop every once in a while. It’s just a shame that he doesn’t have more to offer in the way of a top prize!
Testing Notes
I played 250 spins on Baron Lord of Saturday on Play n Go’s test server prior to release to test the game. This is what happened.
- Stake Size: 1
- Start balance: 25,000
- End balance: 24,865
- Win Rate: 24% (60 winning spins in 250)
- Biggest Win: 18.4x
- Free Spins Round: 0
Baron Lord of Saturday took a while to warm up as you might expect from a high variance slot. I didn’t’ see a single win in the first 14 spins. It continued to be streaky throughout the 250 spins, though it did balance out with a respectable hit rate of 24% in the end. That’s 60 spins with a win of some kind.
After 50 or so spins I hadn’t seen a single expanding wild and was beginning to think they might not exist. Then they started to drop, and I saw 9 in the final 200 spins. They are not that frequent but for me they are your best chance of scoring a decent win in the base game, particularly if you get one and a few random wilds on the same spin. That brought up my biggest win of 18.4x.

I didn’t see the bonus round once in 250 spins. Another indication that this will be a volatile play.
Overall though, this was a fun slot. The theme is definitely more light-hearted than horror. And despite the streaky win distribution the hit rate was enough to keep me entertained whilst waiting for the expanding wild wins to trigger. It will try your patience and you will need funds on your balance to ride out the slower periods but if you enjoy Play n Go’s fun cartoon style games I’d recommend giving this a go.
