A Classic 3 Reel Slot With Fun Fire-y Animations

Fire Joker Freeze is a fun slot with a classic fruit machine design, utilising classic symbols like lucky 7s, cherries and plums. The fire motif is carried throughout, from the blazing red background to the symbols that blaze up when part of a winning line. In fact, I enjoyed the really slick animations throughout and in particular the Bonus Wheel of Fire and Ice with its concentric circles of bright orange and icy white and blue.

To cap it all there is a nice synthy-funk 80s soundtrack that kicks along at a nice pace just like the gameplay. It’s the format used for many 3 reel games and it works really well here.

RTP and Variance

Fire Joker Freeze has 5 RTP settings – 96.18%, 94.2%, 91.21%, 87.18% and 84.18%. Whilst it is rare to see the game at less than 94.2%, some operators do choose a lower setting, so watch out for this. You can find the RTP on the game info screen. I verified the setting at 3 UK slot sites we test games on. This is what I found.

This is a medium variance slot, same as the original Fire Joker, so not as volatile as some of Play Go’s other work,  and a chance for those with a more risk averse mentality to explore the studio’s output.

Maximum Win

The top win is just 1,000x which is in keeping with the medium volatility – you can’t expect huge potential in these mid-variance games. In fact, 1,000x is higher than the max win you see in the original Fire Joker (800x).

Symbols and Paytable

This is a classic 3x3 slot game with just 5 paylines – the three horizontal ones and the two diagonal.

Pay symbols are your classic old skool video slot ones with modest values but they can come in stacks too which will help to accumulate bigger wins. There are X’s, cherries, lemons, grapes, plums, bars, stars and 7s. They are valued at from 0.4x for 3 Xs up to 4x for 3 7s.

There are also 2 wilds – Fire and Ice. Both of these will perform the standard trick of substituting for standard pay symbols to complete lines and will also pay out at 10x for 3 on a line.

Features and Gameplay

Like most classic 3-reelers, Fire Joker does not come packed to the rafters with features but focused instead on repeated unlocking of just 3 extras that can boost your prize payouts. Interestingly, there are no free spins, but instead a Wheel-based game brings on the best action.

Respin of Fire Or Ice Triggered In Non-Winning Spins

First of all, look out for the Ice Joker Wild dropping on a non-winning spin. In this instance it triggers a Respin of Ice. This means the Ice Joker is locked into position and expands to cover the entire reel. The other reels spin again, giving you another chance to hit a win.

In the alternative version, Respin of Fire, if 2 stacks of pay symbols appear on a non-winning spin then they are locked into position and the remaining reel is re-spun for another winning chance.

Bonus Feature - Wheel of Fire and Ice

The headline event is this one. It unlocks if you fill the screen with the same symbol or with Fire or Ice Jokers. But it can also work if you land 2 stacks of the same symbol PLUS an Ice Joker on the other reel. The Ice Joker then expands, effectively giving you a full grid of the same symbol.

When the Bonus Wheel opens it has 4 levels represented by concentric circles, or wheels, each containing Multipliers or snowflakes. You start on the inner wheel with the smaller multipliers, unless a Joker Stack was involved in the spin that triggered the wheel. If 1, 2 or 3 of these stacks were involved in the trigger, then you move up to level 2, 3 or 4 with better multipliers.

When the round starts, then the wheel spins to give you a multiplier win OR, if it lands on a snowflake, a move up to the next level. The maximum is a 20x Multiplier, which is applied to the triggering spin.
