Gemix 100
By Play n Go
Gemix 100 by Play n Go has given the original Gemix a makeover, inviting you to collect gems in a crisper, clearer environment. The slot is played on 7 reels and 7 rows and has a cluster pays mechanic, with cascading wilds. This is complimented by a brilliant multiplier which increases by 1 for every consecutive win that you make, up to a total of 100. The maximum win of 25,000x is super generous and combined with a default RTP of 96.2% it seems there could be some big payouts in store.

Theme and Design
The original Gemix game was popular, but it was looking a little tired, so Play’n Go decided to make it part of their 100 collection. They’ve already taken several popular titles and given them a bit of a facelift and the resulting Gemix 100 does not disappoint. The graphics look sharper, the worlds are crisper and more exciting.
However, at the end of the day, it’s still a gem-themed slot game, which is far from the most original idea on the planet. Though Gemix 100 is certainly better for its makeover, it would’ve been nice to see a little bit more of a unique personality injected.
RTP and Variance
The original Gemix game has medium volatility, but along with a higher max win, Play’n Go have increased this to high. Combined with a default RTP of 96.20%, Gemix 100 doesn’t stack up too badly.
However, look out for the alternative RTPs of 94.20%, 91.20%, 87.20%, and 84.20%. Playing at the lower end of the scale takes this from a solid RTP/volatility combo, to a pretty unfair one.
Maximum Win
Like many of the other ‘100’ games, Gemix 100 has seen a huge increase to the max win. This now sits at 25,000x your bet, which is super solid, especially considering the reasonable default RTP.
Symbols and Paytable
Gemix 100 is played on 7 reels and 7 rows and uses a cluster pay system. You make wins by connecting 5 or more identical symbols horizontally and/or vertically.
There are 8 pay symbols, plus wilds. The lower-paying symbols are blue, turquoise, purple, and green, each offering between 7.5x and 15x the bet for clusters of 15 or more. The premium symbols—orange, pink, red, and yellow—award between 50x and 250x the bet for clusters of 15 or more.
Additionally, three different Wild Symbols can appear during non-winning spins, replacing all regular symbols to help create winning clusters.
Features and Gameplay
Gemix 100 has a great selection of features that each add something unique to the gameplay. Let’s take a look at exactly how the mechanics work.
Cascades
After every win, the symbols that contributed to the win disappear, making way for new symbols to fill the grid. If these new symbols create another winning combination, they also vanish and are replaced. This process repeats until no new wins are formed.
Multiplier
Each spin starts with a win multiplier of 1x. With every successful cascade, the multiplier increases by 1. The multiplier resets once no more wins are achieved and can go up to a maximum of 100x. This 100x cap is Play’n Go’s nod to the ‘100’ part of the title.
Pattern Clear
Every spin, a random pattern appears on the grid. Achieving wins on all the positions of the pattern boosts the multiplier by 5. Completing a pattern also advances you to the next world. There are three different worlds in the game, and once you finish the last one, you circle back to the first.
World Wilds
Each of the three worlds features its unique Wild Symbol, which can replace all regular symbols. These Wilds can appear randomly during any non-winning spin.
- Miner Wild: adds up to 10 random Wild Symbols anywhere on the reels
- Girl Wild: spreads across the grid from one edge to the other
- Magician Wild: places up to 4 sticky Wild Symbols on the grid
Crystal Charge
When you accumulate 25 winning symbols during a single spin, the Crystal Charge activates, triggering one of the following effects:
- Nova Blast: One symbol explodes, changing all adjacent symbols.
- Crystal Warp: Selects a symbol and transforms all matching symbols into different ones.
- Light Beam: A symbol emits light beams, converting all hit symbols into different symbols.
- Chain Lightning: Connects two corner symbols with lightning, turning all affected symbols into one of the corner symbols.
Super Charge
When you gather 35 or more winning symbols in the Charge Meter, the Super Charge is activated. This doubles the multiplier for all subsequent wins.
Final Verdict
Gemix 100 is yet another of Play’n Go’s ‘100’ games that has succeeded in sharpening up its predecessor. The massively increased max win of 25,000x your stake is well worth the slight increase in volatility. The worlds, wilds, and massive multipliers are still there, keeping the essence of what made the original great - but just adding to it.
The eagle-eyed slots fans might have noticed that the basic symbol win prizes have been dropped, which is a bit of a shame. But, for me, the rest of the updates more than make up for that.
Testing Notes
Test spins and results analysis by Mark Wadie.
Results from 100 spins for free on Gemix 100 on Play n Go’s test servers.
- Stake Size: 1
- Start balance: 25,000
- End balance: 24,944
- Hit Rate: 46% (46 winning spins in 100)
- Biggest Win: 5.1x
- Bonus Round: 0
Like similar slots in the Play n Go catalogue – the Toonz series in particular – Gemix 100 is all about action and there is TONS of it. The win rate was very high at 46%, so nearly half of spins produced a win of some kind. That’s unusual for a highly volatile game, but it doesn’t mean that the balance stayed high. Most wins are very small so you still burn down that total fast. However, it’s an entertaining ride with all those cascades and that progressive multiplier that keeps growing with each successive win.
It's all about waiting for that big sequence to drop. That didn’t happen for me which isn’t that surprising in just 100 spins but I did see a Pattern Clear even that took me to a new realm to play in, and a few World Wilds that added extra wilds in.
Take aways? This is a really fun slot with lots going on, but the volatility means it’s going to be tough on your balance, so go low stakes to ride it out.
