Theme and Design
Octopus Treasure is set in the very depths of the ocean, and the star of the show, the huge octopus actually rarely shows his face. Instead he sits behind the reels, tentacles grabbing at symbols and triggering features at various times. The animations are fun and the bubbling backdrop with battered coral and shipwreck detritus makes for pleasant scenery, if a little over-crowded in places.
RTP and Variance
Octopus Treasure has 5 available RTP settings – 96.25%, 94.25%, 91.25%, 87.26% or 84.26%. Keys Are CRUCIAL to landing any significant payout …
When one lands on reel 3, then the Octopus reaches round, grabs it and unlocks a chest that sits above the reels. This brings up one of FOUR modifiers:
Wild Coins – watch the coins drift to the bottom of the screen. When they land, you must pick one to reveal a symbol. ALL instances of that symbol visible on the reels are now turned wild to create wins. I saw this feature more than any other in testing.
Treasure Grab Bonus – the octopus himself picks symbols to award instant cash prizes on. Another regular in testing.
Wild Reels – choose from the pots displayed on the screen to turn reels wild. You can turn more than one reel wild in this way! Only triggered once for me in 200 spins but brought up a 53x win so good potential there.
Gold Pile – the octopus randomly transforms some symbols into higher paying symbols from the paytable.
After the feature plays out, sometimes a RANDOM multiplier of 2x, 3x, 5x or 10x gets applied to your win. It appears from a new chest that is opened up, centre screen. In 200 spins in testing I only ever saw a 2x multiplier appear. However, even that can be useful.
No Free Spins BUT Re-Spins Offer the Best Chance of Hitting 5,000x
To trigger re-spins you’ll need to land 3 oyster scatters on reels 1, 3 and 5. This is the headline event and your best chance of getting anywhere near that 5,000x max win.
When this happens, then the reel set is modified so ONLY KEYS or empty spaces appear. You get 3 spins after which all keys visible are collected. The number of keys represents the number of re-spins you get.
On EVERY re-spin a treasure chest is unlocked and a modifier revealed - wilds, treasure grab, wild reels or gold pile – so your wins are significantly boosted. I clocked up 11 respins once in testing which led to an extended round with an 86.05x total win. Not bad.
Finally, any key that lands during Treasure Spins get you an extra spin in the feature. And there is no limit to how many times this can happen.
Final Verdict
Octopus Treasure is a fun online game with a balanced pay model and some cool features that trigger on a regular basis. The re-spins round certainly has the potential to kick out some big wins with its relentless sequences of wilds and instant wins. The icing on the cake is the random multiplier that drops at the end of each feature. With the chance for this to go as high as 10x this could catapult and ordinary win to much higher levels. If you enjoy slots with deep sea monsters and plenty of cash piles, this could be a good one for you!

In keeping with its medium variance billing, Octopus Treasure offered plenty of wins and feature triggers over 200 spins. The key landed on reel three 7 times. The most common features to unlock this way were the Treasure Grab bonus (3 times) and Wild Coins (2 times). However, the best win came from a Wild Reels which produced a 53x win. The random multiplier is a nice surprise when it arrives too. For me it appeared roughly 50% of the time at the end of the feature.
The headline event, the re-spins dropped just twice, but that isn’t bad over 200 spins. The first time I triggered 11 spins and scored an 86.05x win. It’s an extended feature and with a chest unlocking on each spin you can really rack up the payouts here, particularly if you get a nice multiplier at the end of the round.
200 spins took close to 25 minutes – longer than most games – thanks to that extended re-spins round, so good value for money on that front too.
