Tumbles After Every Win
After any winning spin, winning symbols are zapped from the reels and new ones drop in to replace them. If more wins are created, the process repeats. And so on until no more wins occur.
Multiplier Wheel After 5 Consecutive Wins
If 5 consecutive wins occur from one spin – one from the original spin and 4 consecutive tumbles – then a Multiplier Wheel appears. This contains multipliers of 2x, 3x, 5x, 7x, 10x, 15x, 25x or 50x. The wheel spins and the multiplier it lands on is applied to all subsequent wins in the sequence.
Free Spins With Multiplier and Bonus Symbol Meter
The free spins round comes around when you land 4, 5 or 6 of those bonus symbols on one spin. That gets you 10, 15 or 20 free spins. In this case, before the round starts the Multiplier Wheel appears to assign a multiplier that will be active on every one of your free plays.
That’s great, and if you get a high value multiplier things could really go off. But there is more because every bonus symbol that lands during the round is collected in a meter. Every 4th bonus symbol collected gets you 4 more spins and another spin of the Multiplier Wheel. The multiplier chosen is then added to your existing one, to be applied to all subsequent wins.
Final Verdict
Pragmatic Play are one of the best at delivering scatter pays games, from Sweet Bonanza to Gates of Olympus 1000. So, it’s no surprise that Wheel O Gold is a quality production. It delivers on all levels with lavish visuals next to simple gameplay where layering multipliers on top of tumble wins creates fun progressive win sequences. This is your ticket to the big time as each new multiplier is added to the running total, better still if you can extend the free spins round by filling the bonus meter. Finally, as ever, keep in mind that the maths is volatile so it can go either way, but as our tests showed, overall the hit rate is high enough to always keep things interesting.

Wheel O Gold blew very hot and cold throughout this relatively short session of 200 spins. During the first 50 spins the hit rate was very high, over 50% of spins turning out a win. But then out of nowhere, those wins dried up and I went 15 or 20 spins with nothing at all. So be ready for that. Over 200 spins the hit rate evened out to 30% which is still higher than many slot games and shows that despite its high variance, Wheel O Gold can still be an entertaining experience whilst chasing down those big payouts.
The Multiplier Wheel - which requires 5 consecutive tumble wins - launched on 7 occasions which is 3.5% of spins. That isn’t bad either, and though on most occasions the multiplier was just 2x, near the end of the session it came up with a 7x to help drive a nice 65.8x win, the biggest of the lot.
Free Spins dropped once in 200 spins to give me 10 free plays. That is about average for a high variance slot. Sometimes it takes 300 or more spins to trigger a feature bonus, so once in 200 is reasonable. The bonus meter collected 4 symbols in the first 7 spins to trigger another Multiplier Wheel spin which boosted a 2x multiplier up to 4x and added a further 4 spins. The net outcome was a 35.85x win.
To conclude, over 200 spins Wheel O Gold came across as a very entertaining game, with a high hit rate, lots of scatter wins and plenty of fun animations. But it also showed that at times it can run cold, so keep that in mind if you chose to play.
