Theme and Design
Glitzy, Glamour and A Spacey Soundtrack
Wheel of Fortune is one you are either going to love or hate. It’s a classic, iconic gameshow brand, first made famous on TV and then converted into one of the biggest offline slots on Vegas floors in the 70s and 80s. It’s all gawdy glitz and glamour and BTG have chosen to use the TV studio as the backdrop to their version, which gives it a distinctly retro-feel in my opinion.

Visual highlights include a nod to the original TV show, as hostess Vanna White appears in a video clip that spans the expanded reel space before the wilds are displayed, as well as a nice animation on the logo as the colors of the wheel spin behind the words. Meanwhile, a spacey kind of electro soundtrack has been added to complete the scene, and as you would expect there is plenty of chinking of coins when wins drop.
It’s a long, long way from the world of modern online slots. But criticising would be to miss the point. This is Wheel of Fortune and this is how it is supposed to be.
RTP and Variance
Wheel of Fortune Megaways has an RTP of 96.46%. That is a solid return for any Megaways or Wheel of Fortune game. This is also, of course, a highly volatile slot, with a large chunk of that RTP saved back for the free spins round where much bigger wins are driven by features like expanding reels and Megastacks.
Maximum Win
The top payout in Wheel of Fortune Megaways is a huge 80,150x. That makes it one of BTG’s highest paying slots, falling short of only Wild Flower (114,100x), Max Megaways (139,200x) and Max Megaways 2 (147,620x) in the list.

Symbols and Paytable
A Staggering Win Ways Engine With Up to 1,000,000 Lines!!
Wheel of Fortune Megaways™ uses the classic expanding reels set up with 6 reels, each displaying between 2 and 7 rows on any given spin. The game uses a Win Ways system so wins are triggered by landing 3 or more identical symbols on adjacent reels from left to right, regardless of their position. This creates up to 117,649 win ways per spin, calculated as 7x7x7x7x7x7.

However, the interesting part, and one that got me listening, was the chance to expand these win ways still further to a massive 1,000,000. This is done with the special Expansion Symbol that creates up to 10 rows per reel in the bonus round, which I explain below.
The paytable has a whole range of values with some good payouts available right at the top end. Low payers are the cards, 9 through to Ace. These are valued at from 0.1x for 3 9s up to 0.7x for 6 Aces. The premiums are the luxury icons, cars, speed boats, jet planes and diamond rings. They are valued at from 0.3x for 3 cars up to 25x for 6 rings.
There are also wilds that sub for all other symbols except scatters and expanders to complete win ways, and scatters, required to unlock the bonus round.
Features and Gameplay
A Chance To Build Huge Cumulative Wins On An Expanded Reel Set
An array of expanding reels, Megastacks and Free Spins enhance the gameplay in this slot. But how do they trigger the big wins? These are the big events on the reels to look out for when you start spinning.
To start, into the Megaways mix come MEGASTACKS – wilds that land on the reels can expand to up to 7 rows high. This way it’s possible in the base game to fill three reels entirely with wilds.

3, 4, 5 or 6 Wheel of Fortune logo scatters landing simultaneously will get you 12, 14, 16 or 18 free spins respectively.
But now, to add jeopardy to proceedings, the number of Megaways™ in play as the round begins is determined by the spin of a wheel. You may start with anywhere from 14,000 to 117,649 in play.
Then, during the round the number of paylines can be further boosted by the EXPANSION FEATURE – when the special Expanding Symbol lands during free spins it is replaced by two symbols sitting side by side. What does that mean? You can actually play with TEN symbols on ONE reel. When any reel reaches TEN high, then the Wheel Spin is triggered again and a further round of free spins is nominated – up to 12 again.

So how many paylines does that make? Incredibly, if ALL SIX reels are 10 ROWS high, that gives you 1 MILLION MEGAWAYS™!!
And to add further jeopardy, if you do re-trigger then you'll have to spin the wheel again to find out how many more spins you get!
Anyone who has played Big Time Gaming’s other early Megaways™ release, White Rabbit, will be familiar with the Expansion feature as something similar happens there. It’s a thrilling way to progressively build win upon win and extend your free spins round with cumulatively better and better paylines and win opportunities.

Final Verdict
Wheel of Fortune Megaways is a classic flashy gameshow slot with bold features and amazing winning potential. It’s pretty much what you would expect from a Megaways™ vs Wheel of Fortune event. BTG do not disappoint!
Of course, as a high variance game what we look for when we review is whether it can deliver those classic big win sequences that all high-risk players are looking for. And it can ... in big numbers! The trick here is to have the patience to unlock the free spins round and then hope you can bend the Expander Feature to your will and your advantage. Once you have 1,000,000 paylines in play there are of course lots of chances to win big, particularly if you have two reels of Wild Megastacks in play.
Are there any drawbacks to this slot? Well, if we were being picky we’d say that without multipliers or win cascades, Wheel of Fortune Megaways™ doesn’t quite feel like a true Megaways™ slot. But that is being picky – they can’t all be the same and the Wheel feature that determines your reel set up is a great way to kick off free spins and the high potential more than makes up for any gripes we had about the features.
So, in summary, if you love the flashy gameshow style and are happy to splash out on some highly volatile spins, then this is a great slot for you to spend your time and money on. Just beware of the super high-risk levels!
Good luck and have fun.
Testing Notes
I played 200 spins on Wheel of Fortune Megaways for free at Casumo Casino to test the game and this is what happened.
- Stake Size: £20
- Start balance: £4,980
- End balance: £3575.5
- Biggest Win: 25.65
- Free Spins: 1
- Session Time: 16 minutes 21 seconds
A session of 200 spins was enough to find out all about this slot. The base game was of course all about Megastacks and they landed regularly, 15 times in total which is a little under 10% of spins. Several times they brought up small wins in the 2x to 5x range. Of course, there is not much else to speak of in the base game so it is really about waiting for the free spins to arrive. When they did I landed 1 Expansion Feature but no re-triggers. The final win was 25.65x which you can see in this screenshot. Whilst not a profitable 200 spins it showed itself to be an entertaining game with smooth flow and regular enough features to keep me engaged.
