NextGen Gaming was established in 1999 to produce online slot games for land-based casinos. With the explosion in online casinos over the following decade the company turned its eyes to that lucrative market. For a long-time the slot for which NextGen was best known was 300 Shields, a game inspired by the famous Spartan army from Ancient Greek times.
