Theme and Design
A Pleasant and Upbeat Jungle Vibe Throughout This Game
We’re heading out to the jungles of some Latin American country for Aztec Powernudge, set in a clearing in the lush trees where a temple stands, along with stone carvings. The sort of place Indiana Jones might stumble across on one of his adventures. The grid is a bright gold affair, displaying gleaming gems which also litter the jungle floor around it. To complete the atmosphere is an upbeat jungle drum track with chanting backing vocals. It’s all very cheery and optimistic.

RTP and Variance
Aztec Powernudge has 3 RTP settings –96.46%, 95.56% and 94.49%. This is standard for Pragmatic games. Unlike slots from other providers where the lowest RTPs are below 90%, the range here is more acceptable. You wouldn’t notice the difference between 96.46% and 94.49% whilst you were playing. Even so, it’s advisable to play at slot sites which run the game at its optimum rate to give yourself the best odds. I would recommend MrQ from Lindar Media who consistently offer slots at the top RTP rates in our tests.
You can also check the rate for yourself by hitting the ‘I’ button beneath the reels, then scrolling though the screens until you see Return to Player – usually listed under volatility.
This is also a high variance slot, rated 4/5 on Pragmatic’s own scale. We see some very volatile games from this provider so expect a rough ride here. There is plenty of potential but it may be a grind at times too.
Maximum Win
The maximum win in Aztec Powernudge is 5,000x. That it not untypical for Pragmatic Play slots. They rarely hit the heights of big number studios like Nolimit City or Relax Gaming. And if you want bigger potential, try our list of slots with the highest maximum wins.
Symbols and Paytable
This is a Scatter Pays slot, a format Pragmatic Play specialise in. The game grid is 6 reels across, each displaying 5 rows of symbols. To score wins you need to land 8 or more identical symbols ANYWHERE on one spin. That creates potential for scatter pay outs with upwards of 12 symbols, something that is reflected by some big wins at the top end of the paytable.

There are 9 pay symbols in the game. The lower ones are the Jack, Queen, King and Ace. These are valued at from 0.25x for 8 Jacks up to 1.5x for 12 or more Aces. The premiums are the 5 gems in purple, green, yellow, blue and red. These are valued at from 0.4x for 8 purples up to 15x for 12 or more reds.
There is NO wild symbol in the game.
Features and Gameplay
This is a simple slot, built for those who enjoy high risk gaming. There is massive potential in the main feature, particularly when big multiplier kick in. Here is how it works.
PowerNudge and Multipliers
Many Scatter Pays games utilise a cascading wins mechanic to trigger multiple win sequences from one spin. Aztec Powernudge swaps this standard for its Powernudge headliner. It works like this:
After each win, the win value is recorded in a meter at the side of the grid, and every reel that displays a winning symbol nudges down one place to reveal a new symbol at the top. If more wins are created, the process repeats, with the wins added to the meter each time. The sequence only stops when no more wins occur.
Multiplier symbols are also in play, represented by a diamond displaying a value of 5x, 6x, 8x, 10x, 12x, 15x, 20x, 25x, 50x or 100x. During Powernudge, multiplier values are also collected. When the sequence ends the total value of the win meter is multiplied by the total value of the multiplier meter for another payout.
Free Spins With 15x Minimum Win GUARANTEED
Scatters in this game are represented by a carving of what looks like a sun god. They are collected during the Powernudge feature and at least FOUR are needed to unlock the round.
The number of spins awarded works as follows:
- 4 Scatters – 15 spins
- 5 Scatters – 20 spins
- 6 Scatters – 25 spins
- 7 Scatters – 30 spins
- 8 Scatters – 35 spins
This is a super-powered feature where the multiplier symbols can carry extra values of 250x, 500x or 1,000x on top of their regular values. And, if you don’t win at least 15x, then an extra spin is awarded. And more spins are awarded one by one until you reach a payout of at least 15x!
Finally, if you pick up 3 or more scatters during one Powernudge sequence during the round then you will add a further 5 spins to your total.
Final Verdict
Aztec Powernudge is another enjoyable slot to add to Pragmatic Play’s growing list of scatter pays games. It’s not a classic like Gates of Olympus 1,000 but it still has its moments. The production is good and it feels like the balance between volatility and hit rate has been carefully built so that there are enough small hits to keep you interested even when the wait for that epic moment is a long one.
Testing Notes
I played 200 spins on Aztec Powernudge on Pragmatic Play’s test server prior to release to test the game. This is what happened.
- Stake Size: $1
- Start balance: $100,000
- End balance: $99,945.60
- Hit Rate: 24% (48 winning spins in 200)
- Biggest Win: 22.5x
- Free Spins Round: 1
I expected this to be a brutal slot based on the game configuration. It bares all the hallmarks of a tough volatility monster. But it wasn’t so tight after all. The hit rate came in at a decent enough 24% - 48 wins in 200 spins. And it certainly felt like value for money as many of the Powernudge sequences extended for 5 or more nudges which is entertaining and gives the thrill of watching the payout go up and up whilst waiting to see if a multiplier will land before the round ends for that big boost. Reels with winning symbols nudge only one row at a time so the same winning patterns can get you consecutive wins a few times over. The all-important multiplier symbols didn’t drop that often, but I saw a few 8x’s in there, one of which contributed to an 18.4x win. And the biggest moment was a modest 22.5x payout from the free spins round which itself triggered just once.

Overall, the balance took a bit of a hit, but this is a fun game with a nice balance between plenty of regular wins, and the teases of some big potential if those multipliers land right for you.
