I found this to be an entertaining game. Despite the high variance billing it doesn’t squeeze you too hard. There are plenty of wins – a 23.2% hit rate gave me close to a win every 4 spins. And the Mystery Symbols feature, which is also the trigger for Wilds and Re-Spins – dropped on a very regular basis, probably 1 in 3 spins itself. That does NOT mean you win every time, but it adds excitement as you wait to see what you get – a winline, wilds, re-spins or scatters. The best was the Sand Re Spins because the Mystery Symbols and Wilds lock so you’ve got a decent chance of triggering a payout.

I got into the free spins round once in 250 spins which isn’t bad. I’ve seen games that take 350 or more spins, so 250 is acceptable. There’s a nice animated sequence with genie when the round starts before you move to a desert setting. The outcome was a solid 59.6x win thanks to THREE 2x multiplier wilds and a bunch of top paying premiums. It’s easy to see where the game could take you on a good day if you build up a nice number of high value multiplier wilds all locked in and extended the round further.

A Beautifully Illustrated Slot Inspired By A Famous Tale

Drawing on the famous story of the Aladdin and the Lamp, Mystery Genie has a rich design palette to work with and it doesn’t disappoint. The setting is a terrace in a city at dusk, the scene bathed in pink light with a classic Arabian soundtrack to listen to. Lamps, hookah pipes and a benign-looking tiger sprawled on a couch with cushions scattered around complete the scene. It all looks very chilled. Whilst on the paytable, characters from the story, including Aladdin, are well-illustrated and animated as they land on the reels. And finally, the Genie of the title is no muscle man but rather a wild-haired, buxom lady, winking at you from the screen. Fair play for taking the genie in a new direction!

It looks like Play n Go have put a lot of work into the production for this game and it’s paid off. They have delivered that magic mix of theme, design, gameplay and maths to make it one you’ll want to come back to time and again.
