Drawing on the famous story of the Aladdin and the Lamp, Mystery Genie has a rich design palette to work with and it doesn’t disappoint. The setting is a terrace in a city at dusk, the scene bathed in pink light with a classic Arabian soundtrack to listen to. Lamps, hookah pipes and a benign-looking tiger sprawled on a couch with cushions scattered around complete the scene. It all looks very chilled. Whilst on the paytable, characters from the story, including Aladdin, are well-illustrated and animated as they land on the reels. And finally, the Genie of the title is no muscle man but rather a wild-haired, buxom lady, winking at you from the screen. Fair play for taking the genie in a new direction!

Symbols and Paytable

This is a 5-reel game with 4 rows per reel and 20 paylines in play at all times. Wins are triggered by landing 3 or more identical symbols on a payline from left to right, starting at the left most reel.

There are 10 pay symbols in the table. Low payers are the cards, 10, Jack, Queen, King and Ace. These are valued at from 0.4x for 3 10s up to 5x for 5 Aces. The premiums are the story’s characters – the monkey, Aladdin, the snake charmer, the princess and the king. These are valued at from 1.2x for 3 monkeys up to 8x for 5 kings.

There are also Wilds that can appear on any reel to substitute for any pay symbol to complete paylines as well as having a value of 2x, 4x or 8x when 3, 4 or 5 appear on a payline. They only appear when a Mystery Symbol transforms itself into a Mystery Wild. More on that in the next part.

Mystery Symbols and Mystery Wilds

Look out for the ‘?’ symbols. These will turn to reveal either a pay symbol, a mystery symbol, a scatter or a sand re-spin symbol after they land. Where pay symbols are revealed, each instance on the reels will be the SAME pay symbol.

and they can come with multipliers of 2x, 3x, 4x or 5x. These multipliers are applied to any win from a payline that they form part of. Two or more can also appear in a winning payline, in which case their values are ADDED together before being applied to the win.

Sand Re Spins With Locked Symbols 

The Sand Re Spin will only occur when a sand re spins symbol is revealed by a Mystery Symbol. At this point, all Mystery Symbols, Scatters and Mystery Wilds are LOCKED. The Mystery Symbols go back to the ‘?’ state before the re-spins and reveal a new symbol when the re-spin ends.
