Time Spinners
By Hacksaw Gaming
Time Spinners from Hacksaw Gaming is an enigmatic high variance slot that riffs on heavy themes of time, eternity and death! It is a 5x4 game that has 10 paylines. Watch symbols act as wilds throughout the game, revealing multiplier values if they are part of a win. Special gold watches go one step further and collect all multiplier values across the reels before applying them to any win they are part of.There is also a two-part Dusk Til Dawn bonus round in which players must collect multipliers and free spins in part one before returning to the main game for the final pay off in part two.
Time Spinners can kick out wins of up to 10,000x and spins start from 10p.

Theme and Design
It is hard to figure out just what is going on in Time Spinners. The game takes place in a dark dungeon, into which you are beckoned by a ghoulish skeletal presence in cloak and hood. The reel set is held up by iron chains but appears to be hanging over a pit of some kind, and if you are lucky enough to hit the bonus round then the chains are broken and you appear to be playing in the deepest, darkest corners of space and time. Lord knows what it all means, but the overall vibe is an unsettling one and makes for a challenging play.
That said, for fans of Hacksaw there is come continuity between Time Spinners and other in their catalogue. You will recognise fonts, some sounds and the general granite grey vs bright neon contrasts from slots like Hand of Anubis or Itero. Perhaps that will keep you grounded as you try to figure out the narrative!
RTP and Variance
Like most Hacksaw Gaming slots, Time Spinners has multiple RTP settings. It is at your casinos discretion which one they use. The available settings are 96.19%, 94.19%, 92.41% or 88.4%. Whilst the optimium setting is above average for a UK slot, clearly you don’t want to be playing at the lower end of the scale.
We verified the RTP at 5 top UK slot sites and this is what we found:
- Casumo (independent) – 94.19% RTP
- BacanaPlay (Skill on Net) – 92.41% RTP
- Barz Casino (White Hat Gaming) – 94.19% RTP
- All British Casino (L and L Europe) – 94.19% RTP
- MrQ (independent) – 96.19% RTP
Not for the first time MrQ, from Lindar Media, was the only slot site in our test list to run the game at the optimal RTP setting. Therefore, for the best return on your wagering we recommend that you play here. Other sites running at 94.19% aren’t bad – you wouldn’t notice the difference between that and 96.19% in one session, but I recommend you avoid sites running at anything less.
This is a high variance slot, one of Hacksaw’s more volatile games and in a group with others like Hand of Anubis, Itero and Rotten. If you like these kind of games, check out our best high variance slots list too.
Maximum Win
The top payout in Time Spinners is 10,000x. The game won’t exceed that number. This is in line with many other Hacksaw slots. There are a couple with higher potential. You could try RIP City or Cursed Seas, both of which have a max win of 12,500x.

Symbols and Paytable
This is a 5 reel and 4 row game with just 10 active paylines. Wins are scored by landing 3 or more identical symbols across a payline from left to right.
The paytable has some reasonable value in it, but as we have become accustomed to with Hacksaw Gaming slots, big wins are really only possible using the multipliers that come into play when features are triggered in both base game and bonus round.
The low value symbols are represented by the card suits – Clubs, Spades, Diamonds and Hearts - with a max payout of just 2x for five on a payline. Premiums are represented by the arcane time pieces and paraphanalia – the book, a scroll, an egg timer, and the glass globe. The highest paying of these gets you a 20x for five on a payline.
In Time Spinners Wilds help you because they substitute for other symbols to form wins AND they are valued at 20x if you can land 5 on a payline. And finally, look out as well for the creepy-looking GHOUL, THREE of whom will herald the Dusk Til Dawn bonus round. He adds a slightly horror-movie feel to proceedings, with skeletal hands reaching out from the reel set.
Features and Gameplay
So, how do you score wins at Time Spinners?
There are two basics features – a Wild Multiplier and a Bonus Round.
Here is how they work:
Two Types of Win Multiplier Up To 12x
Look out for the watch symbols that represent Wild Multipliers. There are two types – red rimmed and gold rimmed.
The red-rimmed ones will reveal a multiplier of between 2x and 12x which is applied to any win line they form a part of.
Better still … Gold-rimmed watches provide a ‘SYNC’ function whereby ALL wild multipliers in view take on the value of the highest multiplier when one forms part of a winning line.
Two Dusk Til Dawn Bonus Rounds With High Value Multipliers!
What I love most about this game is the ingenious bonus round.
It requires you to land THREE GHOUL symbols to trigger. There are no traditional free spins but rather two parts – a multiplier collection where you try to add as many multipliers together as you can, then a payout part where you return to the main reel set with your multipliers for a final spin-off!
Let’s take each in turn.
Part 1: DUSK – Watch Multiplier Collection
Here you get THREE spins to collect as many watches as possible.
There are no standard symbols on the reels for this part, just Special Symbols and blank non-winning ones. When Specials land, you get a re-set on your spins for the chance to collect more. Check the meter to the right of the reels for a simple display of how many spins remain.
The special symbols are watches and Echoes. The latter are crazy symbols that react to what is around them to enhance existing multipliers!
Firstly, Red-Rimmed and Gold-Rimmed Watches work like they do in the base game, with multipliers of 2x and 12x available. The gold ones are better though because they stick for the round.
There is also a Special Echo which adds a 1x to 50x multiplier to ANY other multiplier within 3 spaces, and a Special Epic Echo which shows a value of 2x to 10x to be MULTIPLIED by the value of any multiplier within 3 spaces.
Part 2: DAWN – Payouts
Now the fun stuff starts – ALL sticky watch multipliers remain on the reels and normal symbols are added back in. You get THREE payout spins to benefit from.
And … there is the possibility of triggering the Dusk Til Dawn Bonus AGAIN from within the Payout phase. If this happens, you get AN EXTRA spin in the Payout part too (so FOUR in total).
Final Verdict
Time Spinners will never have the broad appeal of a new NetEnt blockbuster or the latest Megaways™ game, but that isn’t really the point of these slots. Rather than going for the broadest popular appeal, Hacksaw work at building unique cult classics that are highly memorable and stand out from the crowd.
And that is kind of what they have done here.
The theme is one that we have never seen before in an online slot. And that in itself is quite an achievement. Despite being hard to fathom it definitely has a cool, immersive quality to it. And whilst the features boil down to just multipliers and free spins, the execution is like nothing we’ve seen before either. The bonus round is tough to unlock – that Ghoul figure is pretty elusive – but once you are in then the tension quickly builds as you look to build a good multiplier and free spins stash. With the help of the Echos and Epic Echoes you will be able to punch above the 1,000x mark for sure when part 2 arrives.
In summary, Time Spinners will not be to everyone's tastes but I believe it will stand the test of time as a distinctive and interesting high variance game from a stand-out game studio.
Testing Notes
I played 200 spins in demo mode on Time Spinners at Casumo to test the game for this review. These are the numbers from that session:
- Stake Size: £1
- Start balance: £5,000
- End balance: £5,057.30
- Biggest Win: 152x
- Free Spins rounds: 2
- Session Time: 20 minutes 49 seconds
Time Spinners gave me a surprisingly good run for a volatile slot. The base game regularly kicked out a few small wins where red watch multipliers brought in a 2x or 3x multiplier, though I don’t recall seeing a gold watch multiplier EVER! But better still were the two free spins round. The first delivered a 152x win and the second a 26.3x win. You can see the bigger of the two in the screen shot below. The game certainly kept me entertained and at 20 minutes and 49 seconds that is a longer session for 200 spins than you get with most games.
