About This Slot

Towering Fortunes is an aspirational slot game from Pragmatic Play themed around the high life and set in a gleaming modern metropolis at nighttime. It has the feel of a game like Mega Fortune Dreams by NetEnt or Blinged by Play n Go. The backdrop features huge towering skyscapers, all lit up, and a big wheel, and what looks like the sea, a lake or a large river in the foreground. In the main feature, Hold and Spins, the action switches to a new grid lit up by huge spotlights. The objective here is clear – to invoke the feeling of success and opportunity in the player.

Towering Fortunes is a bit of a departure from recent releases like Spin and Score Megaways™ and Old Gold Miner Megaways™. It arrives at new UK slot sites from the 10th November 2022.

RTP, Variance and Top Payout

Towering Fortunes has an RTP of 96.5%. That is just above average for an online slot and about average for a Pragmatic Play game. If you are looking for better returns you could try Clover Gold (96.54% RTP) or Panda’s Fortune 2 (96.51% RTP).

The hit frequency is 32.63% which means around one in every three spins will turn up a win of some kind. And the odds of hitting the top payout are 1 in 1,000,000,000.

This is a high variance slot with a rating of 4.5/5 so be ready for some long low spells before short bursts of big wins. The top payout is set at 6,422x which can be won in the special Hold and Spin feature game. There are other Pragmatic Play games with higher top payouts. You could try Eye of the Storm (10,000x) or Crystal Cavern Megaways (10,000x).

Towering Fortunes is available from 20p per spin.

Symbols and Graphics

Towering Fortunes reel set gleams with aspirational symbols and glitzy visuals. There are some impressive values on the premium symbols too. Here are the higlights of the paytable:

  • Towering Fortunes takes place on standard 5 reels and 3 rows reel set with 20 fixed paylines.
  • Wins are triggered by landing three or more identical symbols on the reels from left to right on a payline.
  • Low-paying symbols are the Jack through to Ace and can pay between 2.5x and 5x when you land five of the same kind on a payline.
  • The premiums are sports cars, glasses of liquor and cigars, Lear jets, luxury yachts and blinged-up lady. These pay anywhere between 7.5x and 50x for five-of-a-kind.
  • The Wild is super-cool here. It subs in for all others to form wins AND it has a valuation of its own. No less than 250x is paid out for five on a payline.
  • There is also a mystery symbol, represented by a briefcase. When they land on any spin they transform into one other symbol from the paytable.
  • Finally, there is also a Money symbol represented by a blue glass house, which is responsible for triggering the hold and spin feature.

Gameplay and Features

Towering Fortunes is a very simple game with just two features. They work as follows.

Up to SEVEN Mystery Symbols

The Mystery Symbol briefcase can land at any time and as many as 7 can drop simultaneously. When they do they all transform into an instance of the same symbol, increasing your odds of a win.

Hold & Spin With 100x Multipliers

This is the main event, triggered by landing at least three money symbols on the reels at the same time, giving you THREE re-spins.

The regular 5×3 reels are replaced with an 11×5 grid and the money symbols responsible for triggering the feature drop into the bottom of the reels.

During the feature, only blanks and money symbols may land after each spin. Each reel has three lives associated with it. If 3 spins pass and a reel has not had any new money symbols, it becomes blocked. But when a money symbol lands on a reel, it’s lives are re-set to three.

Each reel also has a multiplier associated with it. As the stacks of money symbols grow on each reel, those multipliers increase from 2x to 5x, 10x, 20x, 30x and 100x.

The round only ends when ALL three reels are blocked. At that point, the total money values combined with their associated multipliers on each reel, are paid out. Up to a maximum of 6,422x.

More Slots Like Towering Fortunes

This game’s unusual Hold and Spin round make it difficult to compare with other games. But here are two more you might like to try.

Neko Night Dream Drop Jackpot – If you are looking for another aspirational game but with a bigger top payout you could pick any of Relax Gaming’s Dream Drop titles. This one is sushi-themed and set in a Japanese City at night. Aside from Re-Spins with Multiplier Wilds and Persistent Multipliers with Free Spins there is a £1,000,000 + progressive to play for. The jackpot feature uses a similar format to Towering Fortune’s Hold and Spin. You must land DD symbols on a new reel set with one reel for each available JP. Fill a reel and you win the prize. But watch out for blockers that stop you from filling the reel spaces.

Triple Royal Gold – if you just like gold-based slots with plenty of shiny symbols then you could try Thunderkick’s new 3×3 game, Triple Royal Gold. It offers a slightly lower top payout of 5,000x and an RTP of 96.41% but the simple gameplay, augmented only by avalanche wins and progressive multipliers, make this a really fun slot to play. Like Towering Fortunes, it runs on a high variance maths model.

Our Verdict

If you enjoy glitzy-looking online slot games stacked with luxury icons and a sense of wealth and opulence then you’ll love Towering Fortunes gleaming exterior. The issue for us comes with what’s underneath. The gameplay is quite basis, and although the Hold and Spin round makes for an interesting way to trigger the big prizes, the top win of 6,442x falls a little short of what you expect from games whose look appears to promise so much! For bigger payouts you could of course track down the bigger wins available on games like Mega Fortune or Dream Drop Diamonds.
