Ankh of Anubis Awakening does mix things up slightly, bringing a strangely otherworldly element to proceedings. The choice of neon lighting makes this particular God of the Underworld feel as though he’s from an alien civilization. Whatever conspiracy theory you’re into, it looks cool. The whole thing is crisp, futuristic, and plays on a theme that we already know is popular.

As with most Play’n Go games Ankh of Anubis Awakening has a variable RTP, which is decided by the operator. The default RTP of 96.20% is plenty generous. However, do check which RTP you’re playing at because the 94.20%, 91.20%, 87.20%, and 84.20% range from disappointing to downright rubbish. Combined with high volatility, you’ll need a fairly healthy bankroll to see you through the sparse spots.

Symbols and Paytable

The game features a somewhat unusual 3-4-4-4-3 reel format and a 576 win-all-ways approach. Wins are made by landing 3 or more identical symbols on adjacent reels starting from the leftmost reel. 

There are 10 pay symbols in total, plus a wild and a scatter. The lower-paying symbols are 10, J, Q, K, and A, paying between 0.3x and 0.8x the bet for 5 of a kind. Premium symbols include green jewellery, blue jewellery, purple jewellery, and red scales, awarding between 1.5x and 10x the bet for 5 of a kind. 

The Wild symbol substitutes for all regular symbols, awarding 3x, 10x, or 25x the bet when landing 3, 4, or 5 respectively. 

The Scatter Symbol is an Ankh, which triggers the Free Spins feature when 3 or more land on the reels. The most lucrative symbol, the Ankh, pays 5x the stake for a five-of-a-kind combination.

Features and Gameplay

Ankh of Anubis Awakening has some powerful mechanics at play with the many wild features. Let’s take a look at how those work and the free spins round too!

Wild Symbol

The wild symbol can substitute any pay symbol to help complete a win. If you land 3, 4, or 5 of this symbol you get a direct payout of 3x, 10x, or 25x the bet respectively. 

Anubis Wild Feature

The Anubis Wild feature can be triggered at any moment during the base game. If you do manage to, then between four and eight wild symbols will be added to the reels whilst they’re spinning.

Anubis Respin

If you happen to land a scatter or wild symbol (or more than one) on any non-winning spin then you are awarded up to 3 respins. During the respins all wilds are locked and expand to cover the whole reel. A wild will only remain for one respin if it expands and no new wilds can land during the feature. 

Free Spins

You can trigger the free spins feature by landing 3, 4, or 5 scatter symbols, awarding 10, 15 or 20 free spins respectively. You can gain additional free spins by landing 3, 4, or 5 scatters which give the same number of free spins. 

You’ll notice an Ankh Meter above the reels. If you collect 5 scatter symbols then the meter is filled and wilds are added to the reels via the Anubis Wilds feature. You can also trigger this feature by landing a wild symbol.
