Gold Everywhere You Look In This Enchanting Game
Blueprint are not breaking any new ground with this slot. We’re in the palace of Midas, a thickly-bearded regal guy with long sweeping toga with gold lining and gold crown (of course). The backdrop is a room in his palace with tall pillars and a balcony looking out over the skies. Yes, there is gold everywhere as you would expect, and plenty of gems and treasures in the paytable too. It’s a nice-looking game with an magical-sounding orchestral soundtrack which compliments your spins well. If you like God-type and Ancient Greek slots then this will be up your street for sure.
RTP and Variance
Blueprint Gaming are following the example set by ELK Studios who set all their slots to a fixed 94% RTP rate. This might be lower than you find in many other slots, but it is fixed, so you won’t find the game running at lower rates anywhere else which is good. Symbols and Paytable
The game are consists of 6 reels and 5 rows. That gives you 35 positions to fill and anytime 8 or more identical symbols land ANYWHERE on that reel set will earn you a payout. The beauty of scatter pays slots is that you can build BIG payouts by hitting high numbers of identical symbols.
There are four low value gem symbols in blue, purple, green and red. These are valued at from 0.25x for 8 or 9 blue gems up to 8x for 12 or more red gems. The gameplay is simple, with just one feature to look out for – the Midas Touch which brings in multipliers and instant cash wins – and a free spins round, of course.
Midas Touch Mini Reel With Extra Prizes
The simple Midas Touch feature in the base game enhances your wins via a mini reel. First though, a Midas Touch symbol must land. When it does then it will turn the background on ONE adjacent symbol to gold. Thereafter, when a WINNING symbol lands on the position with a gold background then the Midas Touch mini reel is activated to award prizes. The mini reel spins within the gold symbol space before stopping on a prize.
The good part is, the Midas Touch spot on the reels remains until it is used, even after your current win sequence ends. This way you can build up Midas Touch spots just waiting to be activated on one spin, and if you have a few active at once, the potential builds up.
Cash wins, free spins and multipliers can all be won on the mini reel.
Bonus Symbols and Free Spins
There are three free spins features to unlock in Midas King of Gold. You’ll need to land the gold BONUS symbol to unlock them and 4 or more are required.

In the King of Gold Free Spins activated by landing 6 BONUS symbols, the rules are the same, but the lowest value multiplier on the mini reels is now 10x.
Final Verdict
High variance scatter pays fans will enjoy this slot with all its gold trimmings. Thanks to some nice production it’s got a magical feel in keeping with the story line whilst the one simple feature has been configured so that it can produce some exciting moments in the free spins round. This was a very cash-positive session with Midas’s magic in full affect. The hit rate was 24%, which is roughly one in 4 spins and there were a few nice wins including a 49.5x where 3 Midas Symbols were active, including a 2x multiplier.
Over 200 base game spins there were 14 Midas Touch symbols active, though not at the same time of course. That is 7% of spins producing a Midas Touch symbol.
The game was also generous with the free spins round which triggered twice in 200 spins which is good for a high variance game. The second round produced a mega 831.3x win where 8 Midas Symbols were active, including a 21x multiplier. That is the golden ticket - landing as many Midas Symbols as possible and keeping them on the reels until they all trigger at once for one big payout.
What did we learn from this session:
- Despite its high volatility, Midas King of Gold has a solid hit rate and you should expect regular wins, though they may be small in size.
- Don’t expect Midas Touch symbols to activate that often. However, because they remain until they are used, they are powerful every time they land.
