There are TWO types of scatter symbol in Tomb of Gold – coins and sphinxes. Each triggers a different feature. They work as follows:
Six Coin Scatters Triggers Lock n Gold
You need SIX of the coin scatters to set up the Lock n Gold feature. If you land just 4 or 5 then they will each lock in place whilst reels without coin scatters will re-spin to see if you can earn those extras to launch the feature.
Lock n Gold is a mini ‘Hold and Win’ game. You get 3 spins to start and now only coins and blanks will land. Coins lock in place when they land and each time this happens your spin count re-sets to 3. Lock n Hold continues until the reels are filled with coins OR you run out of spins.
When the round ends, every coin spins round to reveal a multiplier value of between 1x and 100x. They are all added up and the total is applied to your stake for the final pay out.
Free Spins With Progressive Multiplier
The free spins round is a classic progressive multiplier one. You need to land 3 or more sphinx scatters to trigger it. They can land ANYWHERE on the reels. And if you hit 4, 5 or 6 you’ll also get an instant prize before the round starts like this:
- 4 Sphinx Scatters: 5x prize
- 5 Sphinx Scatters: 10x prize
- 6 Sphinx Scatters: 20x prize
The number of free spins awarded is determined by the spin of a giant wheel. It also reveals the starting multiplier value for the round. You’ll get between 10 and 30 spins and a multiplier of between 1x and 5x.
During the round each Sphinx scatter that lands will extend the round by 1 spin and every Wild that lands will increase your multiplier by 1x.
According to game rules, free spins are capped at 65, though it seems extraordinarily unlikely that you would ever see that many in one round!
