7.0

Another highly original adult-themed slot from NLC! But high-risk fanatics will be disappointed with the medium variance.

About Walk of Shame

Rumour has it that Nolimit City’s Walk of Shame slot is a tribute to the celebrations that went on when the studio was acquired by Evolution Gaming in 2022. The game was released in January 2023 and is something of a rarity from NLC – a medium variance maths model with a top payout of under 10,000x. Fans of the super-high variance games they usually put out might be concerned about the impact Evolution Gaming are having on their new acquisition. But fear not, because the adult theme and trademark features like xSplitters are all still present and correct.

What We Liked

  • Party starter Mr E splits cells
  • Lots of multipliers to enhanced wins
  • Easier variance than most NLC slots
  • Irreverent theme and animations

What We Didn't like

  • Free spins round was hard to trigger

Theme, Artwork & Design 8/10

Walk of Shame is the video slot equivalent of The Hangover film franchise, set in an upmarket hotel the morning after. Keep your eyes peeled as you play for prank-related blow up sheep, a guy wearing bunny ears, another sporting black eyes, and lots of empty cocktail glasses. Immerse yourself in it for too long and you can almost feel the nausea and aching heads of the protagonists!

Spins take place to the sound of a funky dance track and what might be tequila glasses being slammed down with every spin of the reels. And always lurking is Mr E whose presence kicks off all the best stuff in this game.

Nolimit City have brought their unique brand of adult humour and charisma to the design and build of this game and its not one you will forget in a hurry.

RTP and Variance 7/10

What is RTP?

RTP (Return to Player) refers to the amount a game will pay out in cash prizes expressed as a percentage of all the money wagered on that game. For example, a 96% RTP means a game will pay out £96 for every £100 wagered. This is an average number and will vary from one session to the next.  Read more here.

What is Variance?

Variance refers to how far a game will deviate from its RTP over time. High variance games deviate a lot and produce uneven win distributions and unexpected windfalls. Low variance games provide a more stable and even distribution of wins. Read more here.

The RTP of Walk of Shame is variable dependent on the operator. The settings are 96.04%, 94.04% or 92.12%. We checked the RTP at several UK slot sites we play at and got the following results:

  • Casumo (independent): 94.04%
  • Dream Vegas (White Hat Gaming): 94.04%
  • BacanaPlay (Skill on Net): 92.12%
  • Duelz Casino (SuprPlay): 92.12%

None of the sites we regularly play at ran Walk of Shame at the optimum RTP. However, of the four we would recommend Casumo where the RTP is set to 94.04%

Unusually for a Nolimit City slot the variance for Walk of Shame is medium. Most slots from this studio are high variance but this has been built to appeal to a broader fanbase with a more balanced pay model. If you prefer highly volatile games, then take your pick from the rest of NLC’s catalogue and titles like Tombstone RIP and San Quentin xWays.

Maximum Win 6/10

What Is Maximum Win?

Maximum win refers to the maximum amount a player can win from one spin. It is expressed as a multiple of the stake. For example, where the maximum win is 100,000x, from a £1 stake, the maximum win would be £100,000.

The maximum payout in Walk of Shame is 9,822x which is lower than most other NLC games. If you are looking for higher potential then try Mental (6,666x), Tombstone RIP (300,000x), or The Border (44,288x). You can also read our article, NLC slots with the highest maximum payout.

Paytable 6/10

The game is set up on a 5-reel grid with 3 rows on reel 1 and 4 on reels 2 to 5. Wins are triggered by landing three or more identical symbols from left to right on one of 768 paylines. Splitting cells can cause the number of paylines to increase.

Symbol values are not huge, so you will be reliant on enhancements like splits and multipliers to increase their value and boost your wins.

Walk of Shame Paytable
Paytable for Walk of Shame Slot

Low pay symbols are made up of 5 empty drinks glasses that contained various alcoholic drinks including mojitos, tequila shots and what might be an Old Fashioned which is valued at 1.25x for five on a line. The high paying symbols are the four hungover characters who are valued at up to 5x for five on a line.

There are two scatters that each unlock a different bonus round – The Invitation and the mysterious Mr E who looks like the party-starter!

Gameplay & Features 8/10

Loaded Wilds and the Walk of Shame

High paying symbols can land in stacks on reels 2 to 5. When they do they become Loaded Wilds which can substitute for all other symbols to complete win lines and by default come with a 4x multiplier.

But these aren’t ordinary wilds, they are walking wilds (of course). And if they appear on reels 3, 4 or 5 at the same time as Mr E drops by, then they move one reel to the left on the next spin and continue to do so until they hit reel 2.

Mr E – The Splitter!

Mr E is the mystery character who gets the party started. As well as triggering free spins he also splits all cells in the same row or reel, except for scatters. This increases the number of paylines in play.

One More!!! Free Spins Round

You need 3 or 4 Invitation Scatters to trigger the One More!!! Free Spins round. Here you get 10 or 15 spins. During this round there is a global win multiplier that increases by 1x with every Loaded Wild to land. More spins may be awarded if more Invitation Scatters land – 1, 3, 5 or 7 for 2, 3 or 4 scatters on a single spin.

You can also trigger the All Nighter during One More!!! by landing Mr E.

All Nighter Free Spins

The configuration here is the same as One More!!! You get the global multiplier and Walk of Shame features. However, Mr E is now a permanent fixture on reel 1, splitting symbols across the reels throughout the round.

Boom or Bust? What Happened When We Played Walk of Shame

Playing Walk of Shame for 30 minutes on Casumo at 20p stakes, brought the following results.

  • Session Time: 30 minutes
  • Bet Size: 20p
  • Start Balance: £105.78
  • End Balance: £149.91
  • Net Win / Loss: £44.13
  • Biggest Single Win (in base game): £48 (240x)
  • Biggest Losing Streak: 12 spins with no wins
  • Free Spins Round Feature Triggers: One
  • Free Spins Round Wins: £15.32 (153x)

Firstly, this certainly felt like a less volatile game than other NLC slots. The wins were regular enough and the longest streak without any pay triggers was just 12 spins. The key to getting big wins is always Mr E because he splits cells and triggers the Walk of Shame which is where my biggest win – 240x – arrived with two Loaded Wilds on the reels, each with a 4x multiplier.

The game teased what seemed like countless times by landing 2 Invitation Scatters but not a third. When this happens the remaining reels start smoking as you wait to see if the third will drop. Finally, about 30 minutes in, the One More!! spins round triggered with 10 spins and I scored a total win of £15.32 (76x) with a x6 multiplier. There were no re-triggers or upgrades which was disappointing. I definitely had a sense that the free spins round could go off if Mr E had got involved with the global multiplier in play too.

But overall this was an entertaining game with a fun theme and lots of typically irreverent NLC touches to the graphics and sound.

Our Verdict 7.0/10

Walk of Shame will make a perfect entry point for those who have steered away from NLC slots until now. The same irreverent humour that we find in games like Punk Toilet is still here but the massively high variance has been dialled down to a more acceptable level and the wins are regular as are the Loaded Wilds. Make friends with Mr E and you could go a long way with this one!
