If you enjoy anime girls, then The Moon Princess series is very appealing. It’s a nice concept and Play n Go have given it an adequate sprinkling of Christmas styling to make this a worthwhile seasonal affair.  There is plenty of snowy scenery, tons of Christmas decorations dropping onto the grid, and your favourite Princesses are merrily doing their thing in lively animated style to add modifiers and power-up those payouts.

There are more festive slots than this one out there – Piles of Presents and Wonders of Christmas both present a more traditional taste for example – but what you see in Christmas Kingdom is about as far as you can expect an anime style game to go.

It is a Cluster Pays slot but you only need 3 or more identical symbols in vertical or horizontal directions (not diagonal) to create a win, so the paytable looks similar to that of a standard payline slot with wins for 3 to 5 of each symbol type.

Symbol values are good, particularly when you consider how many extra modifiers, as well as the Cascade Wins feature, are there to boost them still further.

I found that there was a lot to keep me entertained in Moon Princess Christmas Kingdom. It can feel a little hard to follow at first, but it boils down to some straight forward triggers and outcomes.

Winning Symbols Are Always Removed – Empty The Grid To Trigger Free Spins

Your ultimate goal is always to empty the grid which triggers the free spins round. After any winning spin, winning symbols are removed. But there are NO cascades – so new symbols do NOT drop in to replace them.

Watch Out For Mistletoe Positions That Power-Up Your Multiplier

There is a useful multiplier feature available on every spin. You’ll see the current value in the top left of the screen. On every spin, on 5 places on the grid a mistletoe symbol appears. If a win is formed using a symbol that drops over the mistletoe, then the multiplier increases by 1x to be applied to all wins in the current sequence.

The multiplier keeps growing until the current sequence ends, when it re-sets to 1x.

The Princesses Are There To Help You

At all times there will be one of the three princesses floating to the right of the grid. Randomly, if you do NOT score a win, the active princess will trigger her own super power to see if a win can be induced. The super powers are as follows:

• Love – Will convert one symbol type into another – this can help to form clusters
• Star – Adds 1 or 2 wilds onto the grid – this can help to form clusters
• Storm – Removes 2 types of symbol – this can deplete the grid significantly

Trinity Features Gets You 1 Free Play

Look out for the snow fox scatter than lands will trigger a special Trinity feature where each Princess will be active. The fox may drop during the spin or be added randomly after a spin in a feature called ‘What The Fox’.

Here, all 3 princesses will do their thing IF a symbol drop doesn’t trigger a win. So, you have 3 GUARANTEED extra events to help you unlock the free spins round!

Choose Your Own Free Spins Round

If you do get lucky and unlock free spins – which I did once – then you have a choice of three configurations. In each one, one of the princesses is active on ALL non-winning spins. But the number of free plays is different each time, as follows:

• Love – 4 Free Spins and 4 extra every time a snow fox lands.
• Star – 5 Free Spins and 3 extra every time a snow fox lands.
• Storm – 8 Free Spins and 2 extra every time a snow fox lands.

It states in the game that the fewer spins you take, the higher the potential. So, if you go with Love you have only 4 but higher win potential than Star and Storm. And the free spins re-triggers are capped, but at 150, so there is plenty of room to keep earning extras.

That is a really useful free spins round but what I liked most about it is that the multiplier does NOT re-set between spins and there are 10 rather than 5 mistletoe spots per spin. That means you have a really good chance to grow that multiplier high. I got to 17x in my free spins round.
