Play Heroes Hunt Megaways™ At These Slot Sites
About This Slot
Those who have played the original Hero’s Hunt from Fantasma Games at any UK slot site will know it as a unique slot that utilises a very smart gamification model. Players choose a Hero at the start of the game, unlocking their specific features, then add further features by unlocking further Heroes through Experience Points in the base game rounds. Then, further into the game it is possible to collect keys to unleash the Dragon Free Spins round where the prizes are bigger and better still. It’s one of the best examples of a slot developer inviting players to take a journey through a game that we’ve seen and typical of Fantasma’s adventurous design style.
So how can they improve on that unique title? Well, with their Big Time Gaming Megaways license to hand, Fantasma have just upped the ante by increasing the win ways up to 46,656 per spin when all paylines are revealed. They aren’t re-inventing the wheel, but they have given Hero’s Hunt fans another taste of the good stuff and a new way to enjoy this superb video slot.
Before we get into the details, for those who like to know a bit more about the games then spin on, this is one of Fantasma’s joint efforts in partnership with Relax Gaming who own the Silver Bullet platform. Much of the front-end artwork and design is therefore provided by Fantasma, whilst the back-end stuff is covered by Relax. It seems to be a relationship that works well as what is a relatively complicated game compared to many slots runs smoothly and is pretty easy to get your head round after a few spins.
When you load the game up you’ll be struck by how eye-catching the artwork is – there is a real Dungeons and Dragons feel to this slot with a cavernous lair piled high with gleaming gold that our Heroes are desperate to get their hands on. The screens change from the base game to the bonus round and it’s all pretty dazzling stuff.
RTP, Variance and Top Payout
Let’s start with the Return to Player (RTP) which is variable depending on how many Heroes are in play – remember you choose one to start the game, but more are unlocked as you collect points, which we will come to in a minute. The basic RTP is 96.26%, but it will increase to 96.53% when three Heroes and their features are in play.
For sure though, the variance here is very high – this is not a game for a casual spin. There is a lot going on and the potential for big win sequences to unfold at various points, but there will be a lot of down time too where the wins are small and sporadic. So keep that in mind when choosing your stake – minimum 20p – and don’t burn though too much too quick!
Top payout, possible in the bonus round, is 26,000x.
Symbols and Graphics
The symbols in this slot are the wizard, warrior and archer, the dragon, a crown and a gold coin. There are also 4 precious gems, which pay the lower rewards, along with a treasure chest and gold key, which can unlock bonus features.
To enjoy a win, you need to land 3 matching symbols on consecutive reels running from left to right. The best symbol in the game is the dragon, who appears during the Dragon Free Spins round, and pays up to 20x your bet for 6 of a kind. The warrior pays up to 10x stake, the wizard 8x stake and the archer 8x stake for 6 of a kind. The crown and gold coin both pay up to 4x stake and the precious gems pay from 1x to 2.5x stake for 6 matches.

Gameplay and Features
Heroes Hunt is a little complicated but after just a little time playing you’ll soon get the hang of it. For those new to the slot it can be worth spending a bit of time playing in demo mode to understand the progressions between levels. The exciting part is collecting points and then keys to unlock the extra features and further win potential.
Here is how it works:
With all the other action going on it is easy to forget that this is a Cascading Wins game where after any winning spin, the winning icons are removed from the reels and replaced with new ones. More wins can be created this way, and the process repeats until no more new wins occur.
Heroes with Modifiers
There are 3 heroes in the game – the wizard, the warrior and the archer. Each has its own super -power or game feature. You pick one at the start when the game loads up to and are awarded a Modifier whenever the corresponding hero lands on reels 2-5.
Then, you can unlock the other heroes later by collecting Experience Points (EXP). You need 3 points for each extra hero.
These are their features:
- The wizard awards Explosions, which can remove symbols or blockers to clear 2×2 or 3×3 spaces from the grid.
- The warrior awards Expanding Wilds which fill the reel and give a 1x to 6x Multiplier.
- The archer awards Respins and also fires arrows to remove 6 to 12 symbols or blockers from the grid.
NOTE: to set off a feature, you need an arrow, sword or energy field icon to land when one of the Heroes is active.
Experience Points, Keys and Free Spins
Whenever the treasure chest lands on the reels, you receive Experience Points. You need 3 points to unlock each extra hero. Once you unlock all 3 heroes, you get key symbols on the grid and once you have collected 3 keys, you trigger the Dragon Free Spins round!
Dragon Free Spins
Landing 3 keys triggers Dragon Free Spins where you get 10 Free Spins with dragons added to the reels. Whenever a Hero modifier destroys a dragon, you get another Free Spin and at the end of the round, you get to choose a new character and begin the hunt again.
Mimic Free Spins
The treasure chest can activate Mimic Free Spins. During this round, you get 10 Free Spins with Wild treasure chests on reels 2 to 5 with all modifiers active.
Heroes Hunt Megaways is an extremely atmospheric adventure, complete with heroes, dramatic soundtrack and cartoon symbols. It is also a pretty sophisticated game that cleverly utilises level-ups and symbol collections to produce something much more engaging than your average 3 reeler!
The Dragon Free Spins is the best feature in the game and this can lead to the biggest prizes. If you can trigger all 3 modifiers together with all heroes active, it can create some special payouts and some visually exciting effects. Although collecting symbols to trigger features can be laborious in some slots, here it’s quite simple unlocking the characters and gold keys. Just keep in mind that the high volatility might be off-putting for some, as it can be quite frustrating at times.
Overall though, a big release and a worthy upgrade on the original.
