About This Slot
Alongside NetEnt, Microgaming are the most enduring of slot game developers, having been on the scene for more than two decades now and boasting a back catalogue that includes stone cold classics like Thunderstruck 2 and Jurassic World. In recent years they have spent more time working with third-party studios like Just for the Win which some might argue has led to a drop in game quality, so it’s nice to see them re-visiting one of their most iconic slots and plugging it into their super-charged progressive jackpot network. Make no mistake, this is a big release and one we are really excited for!
The good news is, the guys at MG have chosen not to mess with what works. So what you get is the same standard Immortal Romance game with the romantic vampire storyline, dark and gothic visuals and intense feature rounds.
And as before there are 5 reels, 3 rows and 243 paylines, and the standard features, but with the MM jackpots added on to the side of the game screen – something that looks slightly incongruous bearing in mind the jolly yellows and oranges of the MM game wheels, but we’ll let that slide! Winning spins occur when 3, 4, or 5 identical symbols or wilds are matched on neighboring reels, beginning from the first reel.
RTP, Variance and Top Payout
Let’s start with the RTP and Immortal Romance: Mega Moolah from Microgaming is set at 93.4%. This is lower than the original game, but to be expected as a percentage of all money wagered is put aside for the network jackpot pool. Meanwhile, the win frequency rate is 31.21% and you will receive wins in almost a third of spins.
Just like the original, Immortal Romance MM is a high variance game which means the payouts are pretty uneven, so if you are looking for a comfortable ride on the reels here, forget it! But it could be worth it of course because there is a 12,000x top prize in the main game for a full screen of Wilds (available in the Wild Desire round) and that MM jackpot prize is seeded at £1,000,000. You can find past payouts on this page to put you in the mood.
Symbols and Graphics
So, the game design is the same as in the original from 2011, which makes sense – the artwork is superb and when a game is this iconic, why change it?
Low value symbols are represented by the cards A through to 9. The mid-range and premiums are shown as candles, a haunted house, and the 4 characters of the story: Amber, Michael, Troy, and Sarah. The most valuable symbol of the game is Sarah, paying 16.66 x of the stake when you match 5 on a payline.
And just like in the original, there is an Immortal Romance Logo that is the Wild that subs for all other and also delivers up to 30 x stake for five on a line. Note that it will also double the payout when it forms a part of a winning combination.
And finally, there is the scatter symbol which appears in the form of the door knocker. If you land three of them on one spin, then you will open up the Chamber of Spins with four different rounds in it.

Gameplay and Features
If you’ve played the original Immortal Romance then you’ll know exactly what to expect here – a super-charged mix of free spins and wilds with multipliers. Here is how it all works:
Wild Desire Feature
The Wild Desire feature is activated at random on any spin in the base game. As part of the feature, between 1 and 5 reels will become fully wild – i.e. all symbols are shown as wilds. This enhances your chances of winning and makes it possible to fill the whole screen with wild icons and trigger the highest payout of 12,000x.
The Chamber of Spins Feature
Free spins have always been the most important feature of Immortal Romance. They are triggered by landing 3, 4, or 5 scatter symbols on one spin. At this point, as well as opening up the Chamber you will also score a prize of 2, 20, or 200x.
The four Chambers are named after the characters: Amber, Michael, Troy, and Sarah. The mode starts with the Amber free spins, and others are unlocked by triggering the Chamber more times over.
- Amber Free Spins: 10 free spins enhanced by a 5x multiplier. Additionally, it is possible to retrigger for up to 20 free spins.
- Troy Free Spins: available after the Chamber has been unlocked 5 times. You get 15 free spins with the Vampire Bat icon that doubles and trebles payouts. 2 Vampire Bats deliver a 6x multiplier.
- Michael Free Spins: available when the Chamber has been unlocked 10 times. Here you get 20 free spins with Rolling Reels – this is basically Cascading Wins with a progressive prizes multiplier that increases with each consecutive win from 2x to 3x to 4x, and up to 5x.
- Sarah Free Spins: these are unlocked when you trigger The Chamber of Spins 15 times! Now there are 25 free spins and a Wild Vine feature. When the vine lands on the middle reel, it will convert up to 14 icons on the reels into wilds. And furthermore, if you land 2, 3, 4, or 5 scatters, you get a further 2, 3, 4, or 5 free spins.
Mega Moolah Jackpot
The big one of course is the Mega Moolah jackpot, which appears at random in the game. The wheel will drop down and spin to show a Mini, Minor, Major or Mega win. The top prize is seeded at £1,000,000 so the winnings here can be truly life-changing.
Pairing Mega Moolah with Immortal Romance is an interesting move for Microgaming – the Mega Moolah brand is one that is a mainstream concern and attracts more than just the usual crowd of slots fans thanks to its blockbuster payouts, whilst Immortal Romance is a cult classic slot loved by high variance fanatics the world over. What you get now is a game that should appeal to both sets of gamblers and will surely re-invigorate interest in the original. Not much more needs to be said – the classic Immortal Romance features will always be top class and the chance to win a huge multi-million pound prize at the same time is unmissable. Now, choose from one our listed slot sites and go play!
