Alongside developers like Microgaming and NetEnt, Play n Go are the longest-running of the current active list of slot providers. Their journey started way back in 1997 with offices in their homeland of Sweden. Since then they have grown to be a global concern employing over 400 staff in teams of developers, designers, commercial, legal and business across the world in the UK, Malta, Hungary and the Philippines.
Play n Go’s product list includes table games and bingo but it is their online slots that they are best known for. Whilst other developers may specialise in a particular genre of game or maths model, this studio has created a vast array of games with a broad appeal. And what you can always be sure of is that the production standards in their slots are very high.
Here are some of the highlights of their catalogue.
‘Book of …’ games
Play n Go’s most famous creation is probably Book of Dead featuring explorer Rich Wilde. With its Ancient Egyptian theme and expander symbol bonus round it has been the inspiration for 100s of other similar games including Play n Go’s own Banquet of Dead, as well as kicking off the Rich Wilde franchise that includes slots like Rich Wilde and the Amulet of Dead.
Grid Slots
Another of Play n Go’s specialities is their grid slots, usually with a cluster pays mechanic where wins are triggered for landing connecting symbols adjacent to one another in any direction. Their famous Toonz series of games including Reactoonz 2 and Dr Toonz are all gird slots, as is the fun cartoon game, Charlie Chance and the Curse of Cleopatra.
Rock Slots
Play n Go have an exciting series of rock slots in their catalogue too. They tend to lean towards the heavy (and sometimes) dark side with games featuring bands like Def Leppard, Alice Cooper and Kiss. These slots are packed with features and include some of the best payouts you’ll find in any Play n Go games. Kiss Reels of Rock maxes out at 50,000x for example.
High Maximum Wins
Speaking of high max wins, Play n Go aren’t shy on that front. They might not match up to what you find in the biggest Nolimit City slots but there are a string of games in the 25,000x to 50,000x range that we have listed in this article. They include Clash of Camelot (36,000x), The Last Sundown (35,000x) and Prism of Gems (30,000x).
Variable RTPs
If you decide to spin on Play n Go slots then you should be aware that many of the games have several RTP rates – sometimes as many as five – and it is at the casino operator’s discretion to choose whichever rate they want for their players. That means you may be spinning at less than 90% RTP at some slot sites. Therefore we recommend that you check the RTP on the game info screen wherever you play to be sure you are getting good value for money on your wagering.
Award Winners
It’s not surprising that a slot developer of Play n Go’s quality has picked up a few awards for their games over the years. They continue to be prolific and innovative, and yet rarely do we see a drop in quality.
Recent accolades include Game Studio of the Year 2024 (Casino Beats Malta), Best ‘In Class’ 2023 (iGB Digital Media Awards), Best Casino Supplier of the Year 2019 (iGaming Excellence Awards), Slot Provider of the Year 2019 (International Gaming Awards), Game of the Year for Sweet Alchemy 2018 (SBC Awards), Slot Provider of the Year 2017 (International Gaming Awards).
